FUNCOM: Please thoroughly test placeable stability before pushing new update live

Platform: PC
Issue Type: Gameplay
Game Mode: All
Server Type: Official All
Map: Exiled Lands

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Have placeables such as chests stacked on valid areas of enormous benches like Garrison Armorer’s Bench for years
  2. Wait for Funcom update
  3. Log into Official Funcom Server after update
  4. Server log filled with “Large Chest owned by Player has lost stability…” entries, with all items disappearing into the void

With the release of the latest patch, there have been changes made to some of the benches (most notably the Garrison Armorer’s Bench that is in every endgame player’s base) that caused placeables placed on top of those benches to lose stability and disappear. This bug has not even been formally addressed.

This is not an isolated case but happened to everyone who had chests placed on the affected benches. Logging in immediately after the patch the player would see “Large Chest owned by Player has lost stability”, “Zingaran Mercenery Chest owned by Player has lost stability” with no opportunity to loot. Since it was a very common practice to stack chests of related items and materials on the flat spots of the enormous Tier 3 benches, many players lost valuable and perhaps even irreplaceable items.

Given Funcom’s long history of updates that break stability, making undocumented changes and pushing updates that have not been thoroughly tested onto live servers, I am asking you to PLEASE thoroughly test any potential placeable item stability loss problems resulting from the upcoming hotfix, including:

  • chests stacked on other chests
  • chests stacked on benches
  • placeables stacked on other placeables
  • placeables stacked on foundations
  • placeables stacked on the ground

Since this upcoming hotfix specifically addresses “Stationary characters sinking into terrain (This should address many cases of the overarching problem but may not be a 100% airtight solution, but it’s progress)” I am dreading that players are going to log in to a long list of “…owned by Player has lost stability” item deletions.

I understand that you are under tremendous pressure to fix the current bugs, however I am sure that most players would rather not lose valuable - and sometimes irreplaceable - items again due to a rushed update. I’m sure you’d also rather not have another flood of players complaining in the forums about lost items either. Remember the Nemedian foundation bug? We do.
