This is the second time I’ve tried to play this game, but it’s getting frustrating. Game on PC. I just installed it, ran it once, there were login problems, I logged out, and when I went to log in again, the game became unresponsive, nothing worked. The keyboard and mouse don’t work. The game goes through the opening movie, then goes to the initial menu and stays there… there’s no point in clicking, there’s no point in doing anything, it just disconnects from the keyboard and mouse… The game doesn’t freeze, it simply doesn’t respond . Last time, I had to restart the computer to be able to enter the game again, now not even that. Even by restarting the computer, the game comes back.
Has anyone ever experienced this? Does anyone have the solution? This is just weird, I’ve been playing games for many years, and this is the only game that gives me this kind of problem. It’s simply frustrating.
I don’t intend to ask for a refund on the game again, because it’s not possible for this to have no solution.
PS: I opened the task manager, and conansandbox.exe is as NOT RESPONDING", that is, it is working normally (it plays the initial movie, and lands on the login screen, which is working, and does not seem to be frozen), but the program is “Not Responding” in the task manager…
So when the keyboard freezes, does it freeze completely? Does Ctrl-Alt-Del work? If it does, can you start Task manager and see whether some process eats all of your CPU or memory? Does the Windows key open the Windows start menu?
If those don’t work, after a forced restart, do the logs in your Windows Event Viewer report any weird errors just prior to the restart that would give us a clue as to what might be the reason?

In Task Manager, if you click “More details” in the bottom left corner, you can expand he view to show you, well, more details. In that view you can see percentages of your CPU, memory, hard drive and network usage. Is any of those at or near 100 %? If yes, you can rearrange the list by clicking on the particular column header (e.g. Processor) to show which processes take up the most processing power.
It may be that the game conflicts with e.g. your antivirus software (that has been known to happen), and the antivirus gets the computer stuck. In this case, you need to create an exception to your antivirus software so as not to check the Conan Exiles folder while it’s being used. How to do this depends on your antivirus software.
You can also try to close the “Not responding” conansandbox.exe by selecting it on the list and clicking the End Process button in the Task Manager. That way you don’t need to restart the whole computer.
But if no elements in the Task Manager show as overburdened, it may be something is the game installation. Is your game a Steam version? If so, you could check file integrity and see if that comes up with any errors: Right click the game on your Steam games list, select Properties, and in the Pop-up choose the Installed Files tab, and there click Verify integrity of game files. (Please note that this’ll take a lot of time, the game being the mammoth that it is.)
Hey, thanks for you help, but sadly, its not the antivirus… I am put the file in the exceptions, but stay “not responding” …
About more details, all is normal… the cpu is about 5 and 10%, the memory are about 700k, and are using the disk… really, i do not know what’s happening
Have you tried the Verify Files thing on Steam yet?
One rather annoying option would be to uninstall the game (if you haven’t ever got into the game, you wouldn’t lose any progress) and then cleaning up your Windows Registry for any artifacts (you can use free software such as CCleaner or Glary Utilities for this - don’t touch the Windows Registry manually unless you’re absolutely sure you know what you’re doing), then reinstall the game.
Not sure if this helps but:
I once solved some Steam ID login issues with Funcom by shutting down Steam, and making sure nothing Steam related is running in the Task Manager. I then relaunch Steam and tied the game again. Not the same issue, but the game tries to log you in to Funcom the moment you get to the Main Menu, so maybe it’s related.
attached, the image with the problem, back the game running (movie), but the in the front the task manager is “not responding”…, i do not know what I can do…
My board is a i5 with 16GB Ram and the graphic card is a RX550 with 4GB VRAM
PS: I CANT UPLOAD IMAGE BECAUSE I AM A NEW USER… THIS IS RIDICULOUS…
