Games is Crashing from .pak file corruption or tampering

Hi,
I dont think this will help as to why you are getting the .pak files corrupted message but it may show possibly which ones are getting corrupted.
I used this program Fastsum which is free to download and try at FastSum Download Page and had it calculate the checksum for the .pak files and displayed the results.
Touch wood I have not had this error so I am guessing that my .pak files are ok, I have copied the results into a text file for you to compare with yours at least then you may be able to see, if I am not mistaken which ones are getting corrupted as the checksum should be the same for each file.
There are two folders that contain .pak files

Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\Engine\Content\Paks

Conan Exiles_Engine_Content_Paks.txt (2.1 KB)

Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Content\Paks

Conan Exiles_ConanSandbox_Content_Paks.txt (20.1 KB)

Maybe others could also do the same to be able to compare at least this way it is not such an unknown and may help narrow down which .pak files are causing the error.

From all intents and purposes this seems to be a random event and the only common link is Conan Exiles, yet this does not happen to all, is there another common link that can be found, some have mentioned graphics card and network drivers others have mentioned ssd drives, it led me to wonder if those players that are having this issue have another common link as in hardware or its associated drivers which are causing the problem.

Whilst you wait for Funcom to come up with a solution to this problem it may help for all players that are having this issue to compare the following to see if their are similarities

Graphics Card: Make, Model, Driver version, (Manufactures own Driver or Windows WHQL Driver)

SSD: Make, Model, Driver version, (Manufactures own Driver or Windows WHQL Driver)

Motherboard: Make,Model,Cpu,Network Adapter, Chipset, Latest Chipsets, Bios version and date

Are you playing other games that are using the unreal 4 engine if so what type of game and does it come up with the same message.

Are there any programs that are interferring with the running of the game either in the back ground such as an antivirus or as an overlay, like Steam overlay or Nvidia Experience, or streaming.

If there is a common thread through all of this other than the game itself this may be the problem causing the corrupt pak files and at least then a solution may be found.

Had the same issue and reinstalled the game onto drive C, this seemed to resolve it for me. Hope you get it sorted

Done this multiple times. get the same error.

Definitely do not think it is a mod issue, as I stated earlier. I removed the mods, uninstalled the game, blew away all the files folders from the old install, installed it on another hard drive, etc., etc.

I have uninstalled and installed on both SSD drives I have. Thank you for the well wishes though.

I haven’t reinstalled or checked the ones in the Engine directory. I will do that before playing again. Thanks for the info.

oh my God, thanks for cut and pasting that response. This pak file error has only been reported 100’s of times and been going on for YEARS. It’s intermittent as well. There will be zero change on my PC, and I’ll have weeks where this happens dozens of times. Then with no change, no new software, no patches, nothing on my PC it will stop for a few weeks. And then return. You sure are doing a great job! You should be so proud!

We need a fix,

On geforce now, it force us to repare files on EVERY LAUNCH,
we’re talking about EVERY geforce now players,

please help

I will admit this was a problem on my end not Funcoms, but I will say they should have known the answer or given some answers for this. Despite the DIMMS passing the memory test from windows, it appears it was a physical memory problem causing the .pak file error. New DIMMS, and I have not had any errors since. If you are having a .pak file error, I would encourage you to look at your hardware. It may save you some frustration and a little time.

But if this is come from memory why only this game crashing and not the others 20 i play with, neither windows?

but anyways happy that you are now out of this plague bug

Hi,
Yes memory can cause allsorts of issues even when seems ok , this program I have been using for years and seems to be the best way to test for memory as it does not rely on an operating system to test as it is tested before any operating system is loaded.
