Keep getting this error. Today I have reverified at least 8 times. I have no mods, I have reinstalled twice, I only have the newly reinstalled latest version of my drivers and the MS VB C++ Redistribution. I have unmarked my DLC’s and played without them. I have deleted all the .pak files and reverified/reinstalled them. Each time I get this message I check the date on them. They are all the same. There has to be a fix for this.

They did mention that they reverified at least 8 times before this response.
I’m doing that again literally right now as the game crashed again with the same error. I have done this every time it crashes with this error.
I’m guessing that nobody knows why this is happening and that there is not a fix for it.
Happened again this morning. Played yesterday with no problem but was unable to get through the startup today without that error. Reverifying files and trying again.
Happened again just now. Another reverify because of the .pak files. This time, I was just trying to login to the standalone.
Have you previously installed mods and have since removed them?
i confirm this problem i have too, with no mod and playing only on official. pc, nvidia. for more record the pack file corruption is not something new, but for the last 7-12 months it had disapeared but appeared back recently since may be 2-4 weeks (without of course any change to hardware configuration or modification) and problem only happening with conan and no others unity games or games. re install of game do not solve issue.
the crash corrupt pack file can happens with any action, any situation and everywhere, it just a random crash of game, with corrupt pak file, and happens also on the actual beta version, even if it seems to happen less than on live actual version.
very hard to understand to what it’s linked, but my guess is that there is may a link with nvidia update drivers or direct x. as my pc only update nvidia and windows OS stuffs
I had a couple of stand alone game mods, deleted them. Uninstalled the game and reinstalled. Game completely unmodded at this point.
I actually had the windows nvidia drivers and went to nvidia and got their drivers. does not seem to make a difference.
and it has just happened again. Actually, this is the eighth time it has happened since the last time i posted this.
I find it difficult to recommend this game to anyone when this is happening. I also can’t get too excited about the new update coming out when bugs from 2+ years ago are still happening and not getting fixed.
If you’re still having the problem, you’ll have to dig into your files and search for any leftover files from those mods. They are the most likely culprits. It’s going to be tedious, but necessary.
If they’re not manually removed before uninstalling and reinstalling the game, all it’s going to do is redownload the same “leftovers” which will unfortunately corrupt your game as you have already discovered.
Sorry, it’s the only way until mod authors put their heads together to come up with a game restoration “code” (a tool) to restore a previously modded game back to it’s original state as if mods were never used. (Heads up to Developers).
I’ve been harping about this situation since 2001 when I played my first modded multiplayer game. It’s the very same problem that has been around for more than 20 years caused by people who claim to know how to mod games.
To drive this point across, Windows has a “tool” to run a “restore”. (you might have used it at some time). Mod authors should have done this a very long time ago.
When I uninstalled the game, I went back through and completely torpedoed the directories that the game left behind. I thought the same thing so I double checked it all before I reinstalled. I may do it again just for good measure. This game seems to get about as much attention as Anarchy Online did back in the day. I really have come not to expect too much help from Funcom.
When it comes to mods, unfortunately that’s out of FunCom’s hands.
Unless they can come up with the tool that would do exactly what I described and do what’s needed.
I wish you the best of luck getting it sorted out.
I agree. If I thought this was anyway mod related I would not be logging the problem. After uninstalling the mods, uninstalling the game, deleting any existing gaming directors after the uninstall that I could detect, reinstalling the game on a different drive, reinstalling all the c++ redistribution software, making adjustments to the paging file, and doing some of the other things people have posted all over the internet, I can only come to the conclusion that it is a funcom problem with battleeye they are not willing to address. Makes me look forward to the next update and the upcoming dune game. yes, I know I am being sarcastic, but when you pay good money for a product, you tend to want it to work and get a little more response from the company than “here is a forum. Let the other players try to provide you with a solution. We are too busy.” I do appreciate the responses from the other players though. I just wanted more from funcom. I guess I should have known better after playing anarchy online when it came out.
Yes this has been a persistent error. I have verified the local files many times. I have looked at them and they have not been changed (according to their date) since the last install. The only thing I do to make the error occur us play the game. Then, it crashes with a .pak file message. I either reverify the files again, or I restart and reverify and try again. Nothing seems to be helping and nobody has an answer to this.
I would upload a picture of the reverification, but pictures are not allowed apparently.
Manually delete all of the files in your pak folder:
...\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Content\Paks
Then verify to replace them.
yah mods dont touch conansandbox pak files. worst case scenario removing mods can leave leftover ‘junk data’ in your game.db (save game database) but not the pak files. feel free to keep blaming mods, tho.
They don’t touch pak files?
You’re either joking or just plain full of crap.
are you a modder? cuz i am.
mods are unpaked into memory of the game at launch. they dont touch the actual game’s pak data. they can’t because those PAK files are encrypted.
so im neither joking or full of crap.
