Get ready to grumble

With the new age hitting the beta servers tomorrow, are you ready?

I’m not, started from scratch a couple weeks ago and haven’t been real busy with it. Fully leveled character but just explorer gear. Seems a few people have been playing regular so there are a few amenities; maprooms close to obelisks.

All the official servers are down right now, be nice if they are migrating them to better servers.

i truly hope that this time when people report a bug they actually at least try to do something about it and not release it on live without any changes.

i do fear that we will find plenty of bugs specially with thrall pathing.
and i think it will make the game worse.

that is honestly my biggest scepticism.

i truly, truly hope that i am wrong on this one.

Well i am going to try and look for vids on youtube (maybe) about the new patch once the beta hits, i doubt i would be invited anyways to see how it works for myself.
That’s ok though, vids on YT will work just as well should i decide to get a better idea of what they have in mind.

I Still don’t know if there is even a console beta client.

I’m not as ready to slap it around as I’d like to be. The smithy is sort of ready, I have bunks and afire pit. When the serever is back up I need to put down a thrall pot.

What invite? Just download the beta server client. I’d give you a link but it is proving to be illusive. :flushed:

Sorry to say, but no.

Oh right, public beta, don’t need a code.

Yea, i play on console and all my packs are there.

I would consider playing on pc if we had cross platform pack play with sony.
Thanks though, guess us console peons will just have to wait and cross our fingers for the live rollout lol.

GETTTTT READY TO GRUHHHMMMMBALLLLLLL!!!

You should be starting from scratch if you want to test it.

Beta isn’t a place to live dude.

Exactly.

We do a fresh playthrough each time there is a new version of Beta.

It’s the best way to understand what has changed.

I’d argue that it’s useful to have people do both (especially in the past when Beta’s only lasted a week or two). Starting from scratch generally suited me and let me test the stuff I wanted to, but having some testers already at high levels seems to me it allows a different focus for their testing, which might catch some issues I would miss because I didn’t get round to them.
(Hypothetical example - within one or two weeks of starting a new character I’m unlikely to encounter a new bug with Thag, or level 10 purges etc - because I’m unlikley to get to the point of trying those things out…)

To test the Age of Heroes features, specifically the crafter thrall features, you need a set of crafters and an appropriate base. Starting from scratch won’t cut it unless you spend a week or two getting to that point. I’m not sure if a low level character can get a companion hero and progress with their quests, but I’m assuming the heroes are more of an end game feature.

That’s a good point.

Since I use the stand alone server app, I am not beholden to the official servers being available and, for me and my play style, starting fresh is a better choice.

But folks who have a different dynamic are just as valid.

It’s preference, not prejudice.

Servers have been down since lunch yesterday. Still down this morning.
Pessimist that I am I’m sure they wiped so all my effort for the past couple of weeks was wasted and everyone is going to have to spend a week rebuilding to test the lively villages.

Thing is the reason live got no warning about the nemedin{sp} foundation “fix”, was because they wiped the servers before that update. If the test servers get wiped you might aught to work setting some storage on the ground.

i hope not they are allso wiping solo games on the beta client but im so ready for the update if they not wiping that

@DeaconElie will report your bridge in the beta take care:smile::smile::smile:

That is bannable on live, glad you are on single player.

1: ornamental village.
2: Spam land claims.
3: Building on not 1, not 2, but 3POIs

And that is why we need more no build zones. Peopel seem to think if the game lets them build there it must be Ok, but it isn’t in many cases.

Funny thing that looks very much like a build close to my blackbird transtone base that I ignore. It’s a couple of violations but, it’s out of the way, blocks nothing, is well done, and not set to lag. Actually it’s a pretty clean build.

I wont report a bridge that is just a bridge, I just wish people would build them up off the water. I use the water ways as autoswim paths.

i know that is banable iknow but funcom need expand the map so we have more cool places to build on their is not banable plus its very close to where frey is

I can show you dozens of slick places that seem set up to build at, but rarely does any one build there. There are quite a few hidden places, single paths in that are hidden and open to wide open cliff plateau.

i know alot of places but its not fun sometimes when i have played the for 7 years  they really need to expand the map with more doungons

i save my real fresh playthrough for when the actual game goes live, and just admin cheat in testlive to check shit out.
but i eagerly await the game going live to stable branch so i can once again experience that sweet sweet early game grind.

It would be nice if there was a periodic test for consoles as they tend to get unique bugs, especially on PlayStation. Sadly, that’s a rarity on most games, particularly for updates. It’s usually only beta tests for new games.

This is also good for recognizing bugs that might cause serious issues with existing builds and characters. Sure, it saves time and lets you jump right into high tier content, but it also can help players to see if there’s anything like changes to items that might delete stuff (foundation bug from a while back?). Starting from scratch won’t catch these types of issues since there’s nothing to show that they exist. I know that the foundation issue with nemedian was added AFTER the test server (I think?), so it likely wasn’t seen at all, but you never know with Funcom. :face_exhaling:
