One thing that makes this game stand out is dying your armor. You can color it the way you want to and that includes DLC cosmetics as well. But what if you could color your weapons? This would take the fashion aspect of the game to the next level.
I know this topic has been mentioned in the past before but it should really be included in the game. What do you all think?
I don’t really see the point in dyeing a weapon.
Not to mention the work involved adding it to the game, every single weapon would need dye channels and it would have to work with the transmog system… which isn’t a 100% there yet with armours.
On the other hand, PvP would basically end up a rave battle with all those neon-coloured spears twirling about.
I think it would have very limiting and lackluster results.
Weapons have a very small surface area compared to armor, so unless you’re staring at it, you wouldn’t likely see the difference. The only exception would be if you could change the glow colors on Star Metal. As most of the textures are metal and wood, you’d only be able to tint them and it wouldn’t show on most.
Getting the textures ready would be a bit of work that would have very little gain.
Now some shield being dyable as well as Saddles (those of us running mods already dye our saddles and they DO work well) would be worth it. On the subject of saddles, they are actually already dyeable. Our mods can allow them to be dyed, including DLC. So very little was needed in altering the textures and such (you cannot even touch or see DLC saddles in the Dev kit).
I’m not exactly sure what those mods had to do to get Saddles dyable. But I assume Funcom can simple replicate or emulate it.
