Hey! Does anyone from Funcom remember this thread?!?

And if Funcom gave you that answer, would you be satisfied with it? No, your game would still be broken and you’d still be upset.

Like you, I share the feeling that our discussions are getting nowhere, so the last thing I have to say to you about this matter is: if you post on public forums, expect the public to comment and reply to you.

You must have missed one of my previous comments where I said I’ve removed the game from my PC and I’m rather enjoying a new one that I bought. Yes, I’d be satisfied knowing why and what, if anything, they intend to do about it so I can determine down the road if it will be worth reinstalling. The only real factor that comes close to upsetting me, and I use that term loosely, is that they have yet to do that and I find their evasiveness very unprofessional of a business that took my money in good faith. And despite everything, I’d still like those answers. You assume too much.

I do expect that very thing. I don’t expect people to bother replying if the questions weren’t directed to them or if they don’t have the answers I seek…but like you, they do anyway; so I deal with it just as I’ve dealt with your replies.

Be well.

This has been my thought since a long time back. I also believe the concept of sandbox games is quite new to the gaming scene and it has yet to be fully developed. As you pointed out, we’re probably not at a point where our pcs can handle such complex games, graphically, engine wise, programming wise… not sure, but there are so many factors here that again you are right this is like the diapers era of this kind of games. At the beginning I thought it was FC issue not knowing how to handle this game, but the more time passes I’ve come to believe there are still plenty of limitations maybe both hardware and software wise, to have the concept of CE achieve a stable and full potential. It’s like the devs are trying to achieve things that still cannot be done.

I am also letting CE slip down on my leisure time gaming, I used to play almost every day, now I log ocassionaly to keep up some rp in a few servers and rarerly wander or explore out much. I still keep an eye around here to see what performance improvements come along, hoping devs keep looking into it and improving with each patch, sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t, I guess things cannot run perfect everytime.

The thoughts shared by yourself and Agnusthemagi have crossed my mind as well and I’ve had this discussion with a friend of mine whom I’ve been gaming with for well over a decade.

It makes sense. What confounds me is I have two similar games that are open world sandbox style games that have far more content, much, much larger maps, and far superior graphics. They run as smooth as a baby’s bottom on the highest settings, haven’t crashed on me, have minimal bugs, barely warm up my graphics card, and both have been out a few years. My newest game which was just released in May is also quite similar and runs beautifully on full settings. (I won’t mention the name of said games as a matter of good taste and respect to Funcom)

I’m not so sure about the genre being in it’s infancy, the Unreal Engine has been out for some time and isn’t new technology, so it leads me to believe that Conan Exiles was perhaps simply built on the wrong kind of game engine. I can’t say for sure because I don’t develop games, but clearly it seems to me that game engines do exist that can easily handle this sort of build. Did Funcom take 100 pounds of ironstone and stuff it in a 50 pound sack? lol.

Anyway, I’m just whizzin’ in the wind here. I do appreciate all the positive feedback from this post. I suppose we could all speculate till the end of time, but unless Funcom steps up and explains these things, we’ll never know.

As I’ve said, I’ll be checking in here to see what changes have been implemented in future updates, patches, and hotfixes. I really do hope Funcom can get the game optimized to a point where I feel I can reinstall it and it not be as frustrating an experience as it’s been. I’m a lifelong, rabid, hardcore Robert E. Howard’s Conan fanatic and I really do like Conan Exiles and hope very much it can be greatly improved upon.

Have a great day all.
