Me and my friend are trying to co-op play but its not working? we just are stuck trying to join game forever. Does anyone know what we could be doing wrong

Welcome to the forum. If it’s not a trouble for you, can you give more information please?
For example start with the console you play, pc(?), Playstation (?), Xbox (?).
Then if you don’t mind answering another silly question, do you try to co op from the same console type ?
