Is it on the owner’s hotbar? You can use it.
Is it not? You can’t use it.
Usually the servers I try to play on have as few rules and restrictions as possible. Though it is kind of unfortunate that some of the longer running servers have to add more rules over time as players seem to always rankle against the spirit of the server and the rules are there to cover such loopholes.
When rules are stacked on, its pretty much a dueling server (with some extra steps tacked on) and not really a true PVP server.
Like look at the rules posted just above this comment, only 3v3? Like what the hell is that? When I was in the Army, there was quite a few people in my Platoon and Company that were running around a guild in Age of Conan called Murder Herd. Going to tell us we can’t play together? Yeah ok.
This is definitely a melee server.
No higher end bows, restrictions on Archer builds (how that is enforceable is dubious without extremely active moderation), and no mounted combat.
Further, it seems they heavily like seeing people bleed out. The ban against Cleansing items is extremely telling. They definitely want a Bleed meta there.
Cat pets being forbidden is amusing. This one assumes they mean lions and tigers as opposed to the house cat. The house cat is a magnificent tool of psychological warfare with it’s extremely strange vocalizations.
But tiger bans are understood if they want the game to be specifically people bleeding each other out.
Always 3v3…
Are there only 3 clans on the Server or is the Clan size limited at 3?
Hence my line in the sand because the power of admin is too great to not abuse when you are playing and arbitrary rules based on what they like and dislike while playing is in their power, so is it mine to not participate.
Someone really hates ranged weapons, LOL. And horse combat…
And cleansing weapons… and cats. wtf?
Tomorrow a dog on the street barks at him and this little power-tripping dictator decides he hates dogs too, and all canine pets get deleted next server restart?
Well everyone wants a detailed TOS so by God these guys gave them one…now with by-laws. Ugh.
Yeah no way in hell I would have fun in that type of server.
But I do see a new crafter type of NPC called Esquire. It’s an AI function where you put in your server’s TOS as input and it assured your play complies.
I was under the assumption that Funcom added this feature in preparation for console release.
I very well could be mistaken on this. But yeah lots of shooter games have auto aim built in when playing with controller, and for me, that’s why I hate cross platform shooters.
I’ve seen many servers handle that just fine. I mean you can almost pick out the good ones from the bad by the tone of the rules themselves. If the server is a bit more relaxed then it means the owner isn’t trying to control or dominate. When they get into nitty gritty detail, then it means they are trying to micromanage ideal (for them) situations.
One of the first servers I played on years ago had some of the best rules. Pretty much don’t be racist, have a reason to fight (it was very very VERY light RP, just an excuse to not have people just ambush kill each other, but to have a bit of dialogue for player interaction, which allowed for non-combative PVP such as extortion, capitulation, and bribery), and don’t cheat or hack. Pretty simple stuff.
Had to becareful when PVPing because it would generate attention. Can’t throw bombs and stuff without people hearing about it. And people would get bored and join in on one side or the other and stuff would escalate like its Tarren Mill in early World of Warcraft. But it was definitely fun when it did.
Can’t really get that kind of player driven content when the rules weigh you down. Rules should be there to increase variables, not reduce them. As with the dialogue before fights. It gives a potential victim a chance to maybe forstall getting ganked, or even redirect it. Kind of like the general rules of piracy in Elite Dangerous Open multiplayer. Pirates there will demand you to drop some cargo, and only open fire to disable you if you run or to kill you if you shoot them.
Default chat in Conan Exiles kinda sucks for that. Really need Pippi or similar to facilitate that. FC really needs to add /say, /yell, and such to the game.
Not at all this admin is one that manage 2 pvp servers that are the most popular in europe and can be full, ie exemple their crom server is actually 52 people connected on 60 slots, and they dont play the game but simply admin (and well), and their server see the most famous pvp players clan so they know about what they talk for a balanced pvp game and they admin servers since may be 2018.
Q lock does just fine in close quarters and that is the problem. Rapid attacks of mid tier damage but high AP from a distance outside your melee reach and not missing is an issue.
That’s a joke right? The only 2 reasons i may use target lock are…
Bow. I am in a cave playing a challenge and i have no night vision. I use the target lock just to spot enemies and then their health bar is all i need…
Javelins.
For some freaking annoying reason your point dot isn’t working, so your javelin probably won’t reach target at all. So i have to do the sad choice of using target lock on javelins which i absolutely despite.
Target lock does help but cost movement freedom, is a double blade.
But you are right to the point about “skill”. People who use target lock usually spam buttons, they have no control of fight.
This is the private server that gives Siptah weapons to winners of events.(which isnt mentioned anywhere on their discord)
Sell ingame items for “donations” and when you figure out after playing for 2 weeks that your donation is actually worthless cuz you have to win events to get a fair fight and acces to the OP siptah weapons.
They dont wanna pay you back your donation money and paypal has only a 14 day limit on reclaiming donated money. So gg my 50 euros.Last time i donate to a server ever again.
They also have a literal black jack bot where you can gamble you donation tokens away incase getting wiped on the server by admin and friends isnt fast enough for ya to lose all your money.
As final thing i would like to mention that this server was wiped a week ago, now 1 week into the wipe they simply change the rules and you cant do anything about it.You donated and bought khari steel and a bowmaker to play as archer this wipe?Good luck getting your money back.In case you dont know, they sell a bowmaker for almost 10 euros and every wipe you lose it all.
Its lovely there , go check it out.
So, this shit server is the last you should be taking advice from on balancing the game.Hollow bone bow and arrows need a nerf, the rest is perfectly fine.
They simply change the rules because some big donator/friend got wrekt by a bow player.
Well sure there can be some positives to the aim lock, like you described. It truly does boil down to play style. If you like using it to find enemies or see their health bar that’s ok. Myself, that stuff doesn’t matter. I prefer the ability to aim myself. And to others they don’t like that.
Private servers, as the name suggests, are private. Those who pay for such servers are free to establish whatever rules they prefer.
Is it right? Well, this question is not significant for a simple reason: nobody is compelled to join. However, by joining any private server, you inherently accept their rule set, whether good or bad.
Having played on private servers since the beginning, I have encountered numerous unfamiliar or isolating settings, rules, and mod lists. If there is one lesson I may have learned over the years, it is simply this: if you dislike it, leave promptly before the situation deteriorates.
Despite the existence of terrible private servers, fairness demands a comprehensive evaluation of their entire offering!
Rules
MODs
Settings
And no, the order is not mixed up. Rules serve as the foundation of any private server. To comprehend them, you must first understand the server’s theme, restrictions, level of difficulty, and any other concepts that the community has introduced or may introduce in the future.
I am not defending any private server, as I have had my fair share of negative experiences and memories that I would rather forget. However, it is unjust to cherry-pick without understanding the complete picture.
Oh, now this is juicy.
An Exiled Lands server that uses Siptah gear as prizes.
That very much explains many of the other details.
Forbidding cleansing gear serves to protect the afflictions that are dishes out by some of the Siptah gear.
Further, the “Chakram” with it’s stacking sunder and bleed also impinges upon the desirability of certain Siptah gear. Why covet outer dark gear if these wind and fire wheels can do just as well?
Dragonbone also sunders but the stats are… not so good.
Much like comparing venom weapons to ferroxic weapons.
This one is now starting the fire and looking for the marshmallows.
I have an idea for Funcom
go through your nerf history, take each weapon in its most OP (but not bugged) variant and put it in the game
Practically everything was - supposedly - already OP , so it would sort of even out and we would have proper weapons and not larp dummies.
Exactly!!!
Every serious private server has people that spend their free time for others to enjoy their gaming competition but with the feeling of safety. Safety that no official server will ever provide.
Private servers establish rules after discussion mostly on discord pages. All the members are participants to these conversations. Yet people fail to understand and respect sometimes that the one who pays has the final word.
