I can't save / create a new project on an external SSD. How can I fix this ? [Conan Exiles Dev Kit]

Problems :
1.
Failed to create mod root directory: D:/ConanExilesDevKit/Games/ConanSandbox/Content/Mods/Codex_GdO_V1

The assets ‘/Game/Mods/TestMod/NewBlueprint’ (NewBlueprint.uasset) failed to save.

========

Currently, I can’t save or create any new projects.

According to my own research / deductions, this is due to the fact that Unreal Engine / Conan Exiles Dev Kit cannot modify the files on my external SSD.

How can I grant them this permission?

Or how could I solve this problem of saving / creating a project?

PS: I’ve already been able to create a mod on Conan Exiles Dev Kit and didn’t have this problem.

I am not a modder but I just did a google serch with these query terms and it seems something that is common.

NewBlueprint’ (NewBlueprint.uasset) failed to save.

This was top of the list with a few reasons as to why and some solutions.

The resolution in this post is that Unreal Engine runs twice. I checked again to be sure, but no, I only have one program running.

Although this was the title of the post there were a few others near the bottom of the thread that were not related to opening the editor twice.

With regards to hdd’s windows can be really finicky at times regaring acls, and sometimes it is better to reformat the hdd than trying to resolve issues as it is quicker, having said that sometimes you can take ownership of the whole drive and all of its folders and files, which may resolve the issue.

You would need to see with the properties, security settings to see what type of access you have to the hdd, and modify accordingly.

A search using google or any other hdd will show you exactly how to go about doing this, use this search term ‘modifying access to win hdd’ this would be far better for you than me explaining and this way you would know how to do this in future should this be the issue you are having.

Regarding the devkit therer is a discord chanel for modding on conan and you may have better help there, here is the link

Hello,

I repost here for people who have the same problem as me. So, I used another hard disk and made a manipulation to copy the Dev Kit files without going through a download. (You can find a tutorial on Youtube for this “Moving an epic games game from one folder to another”)

Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to create and save a mod (although you’ll have to repost a “new” mod on steam).
