Introduce an OPTION to: Disable horses, disable followers, disable chosen FEATS

Im kind of person that thinks that having more OPTIONS is always good to have especially on games that relay on private servers population.
Modding is not a good way to do it as it will limit playerbase right from get go (yes many people don’t want to install mods, they wan’t to just join in and play and that’s psychology stuff).

Im veteran, thinking to get back to game again, when 3.0 drops i want to host server with BEST overclocked hardware, with best connection out there so maybe it will be able to handle 80 players.
Most of settings pure vanilla, limited clan size to 2-3?, disabled horses / followers and 2h raid time.

That’s why im asking: Can we have more server OPTIONS to host servers? For example disable horses, disable followers (still possible to take thralls and place em, just not follow), disable chosen feats.

You should really wait for 3.0 before asking for things that will change dramatically with the update. There is already the option to blacklist feats btw.

For example: Grit 20 limits health loss from a single hit to at max 25%. So whats the problem with horses with that perk?

What Darth said.

And you can already disable whatever feats you want to with existing options (no mods). So disable Feats for Horses, and Torture tables so no Thralls can be captured at all.

If you want the ability to have it very customized to your requests, by 3.0, sorry, that is what mods are for.

I know there will be many changes like that and it may change balance around but i think it wouldn’t hurt to have an OPTION. The thing is many people rather just play without horses at all (even if it’s just traveling / running away etc)

Is there really option to blacklist feats? I thought its mod only. Can You provide some more information? Do You think it would be possible to disable horses by blacklisting stables feat for example?

Agree about horses.

Disabling thrall catching would also disable option to catch crafter thralls / base defending thralls unfortunatelly.

Yeah i understand that there’s mods but as i said by using them you lose a lot of population from get go and its hard to keep population for this game…
One option to disable followers wouldn’t hurt, not hard to develop too. Why You guys are so negative about it?

Its in one of the ini files where you can disable feats by ID. I forget where it is but google should turn up the answer for you.

Also one the topic of more options; yes I would love more options officially available, BUT you have to understand that Funcom is spending money on the game experience they want you to have. They give us modding ability to go hog wild but they probably get hives when programming in the ability to turn off a feature they spent 9 months working on.

In my ServerSettings.ini there’s no FeatsBlacklist entry - is it new feature?

Its not “new” but its not that old either (somewhere around 2.5). You can just type it in but I thought it was in the serversetting.ini just left blank but I could have the wrong ini file.

Yes i know about that but i still think its fairly easy to develop and can have huge impact on raising private servers population, less angry pvpers would complain about official servers. So i think more impactful serve OPTIONS would have high profit vs developing cost.

I found few thread on web that claims feature does not work, gonna do some testing and see on my own eyes.

Well privates on pc can already mod that stuff so no gains there. Also I’m not sure about the cost benefit to officials and even then, the idea that they would spread out options on/off and limit player bases for each to make money is specious. The ones who would benefit are console privates really but I dont have the data on how many of those there are vs the time coding. Everything sounds “easy” to code from the outside looking in but consoles are a different animal.

There’s an element of art to it too. Imagine you are a painter and have your best work ever and someone comes to you and said “I really like that print but could you just remove the horse in the background? I dont like horses.”

As i said again, modding is already cutting population in half and conan already struggles with keeping population on vanilla servers.

Im sure about cost benefit, i know some thing about coding / UE so yes its way easier to develop timewise vs developing enemy / dlc stuff or anything like that - few lines of code in few places probably.

The last thing i completelly don’t understand what’s point of it? There’s many games that let you change server settings which have huge impact and also you proposed modding route which is even more impactfull - that does not make sense to me, besides you are not allowed to dislike some features?

You can dislike them but thats why they give us modding ability. If we want to do the work, its our time we need to consider (or many people have already done the work and you can use their mods). Somethings are fairly universal wants like the changes they made to set thrall damage/damage taken. Other things are more niche and Funcom has to make the call based on brand and based on what they perceive to be the ROI of that change.

Third time im telling You that many people don’t want to install mods, it will cut server population even by half. Niche? I don’t think so - what’s your data behind that? I know many people that would actually see that usefull but You just straight up pin it as niche without any data - seems a bias to me.

Well people who dont want to install mods are making a choice. The choice is work for someone else vs work for them. Not gonna speculate on Funcom’s view of that mentality but I can guess what it is.

And it works fine, so long as you type it in right.

Not going to bother to respond to anything else here. I just have issues with people who think their idea is the most important idea ever and should be prioritized over everything else.

That’s purely your words. I just love straight up pessimistic / negative people that can’t even make valid points or have normal conversation.

As others pointed out there is an option to blacklist feats:

FeatsBlacklist=(“123456Feat1”, “123456Feat2”, “123456Feat3”)

Replace the 123456Feat1 with the FeatID of the feat you want to blacklist. If the player has the feat already, they will be able to craft the item still until they respec so it works best on fresh servers which shouldn’t be an issue for you.

Yes I know about it now, testing it as we speak.
I still don’t know if there’s way to disable followers without disabling thrall taking / crafting thralls.

…and i don’t see reason why developing such server option for followers wouldn’t hurt - speculation about developement cost is pointless.

It doesn’t matter that much since they are nerfing them again with 3.0 unless you spec in Authority/Charisma.
