Is there a better way to get crenellations?

Hi! Fairly new to the game (like, days, but I’m now obsessed) but I’m a huge student of castles and wrote my college thesis on the Ring of Iron, so of course I’m trying to build my own on a nice plot of land I’ve found. I’m just wondering if there’s a better way to achieve crenellations on battlements than this?

I don’t mind if there’s a slight mismatch in textures, so long as it sort-of works.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, but the battlements don’t feature crenellations, and I don’t know if I’m missing a particular knowledge gap to be able to do it!

You’ll want to learn the Siege Cauldron knowledge, there’s crenelated walls under that.

Ok I was using my phone. You have to learn crenalations separately from fences. Go back into your building knowledge. @FruitOfTheLum

I think what you are probably looking for is this - Reinforced Stone Crenelated Wall - Official Conan Exiles Wiki

If you want to get more advanced (more like machicolations), I have a memory of someone (many years ago) putting out a video where they created overhangs using hatches - but obviously that’s a pretty hefty overhang and maybe looks a bit out of scale.

If you are in a position to use mods (singleplayer or private server) there are also some mods that add extra pieces that can be more suited for full machicolations - I’d be hard pressed to say for definite which mod I was using back when this shot was taken (probably GCAM) but I might be able to find the information for you if it is relevant.

Thank you so much!

I hope you aren’t planning on using that kind of builds in pvp mode, because they are useless.
Unfortunately, the way this game was conceived when it comes to building will force you to create unspeakable abominations, exploiting the building system as much as possible/legal to create a viable base. Either that or live in hiding.

Noooo, I’ve no interest in PvP, so this is purely decorative/for fun! If it turns out well I’ll leave the gates open for people to pop in and have a look around, even!

It will! It’s blocks and dolls game, so please let the doors open so others can share ideas or get inspiration.
Don’t allow the anticlimb system of fences to ruin your cause. Nemedian fences are very medieval design. Stormglass from the other side can fix the best castle designs i ever seen so far, but far away from history looks, more like fantasy looks.
Using the Turan ceilings and foundations on main halls will give a glamorous looks and the light reflection is outstanding.
Have fun fellow exile :sign_of_the_horns:.
