Something I have noticed in the many hours I’ve put into the game on PS5 is the water on noob river doesn’t look too good. It’s odd, as elsewhere in the game the water looks fine.
So I did some research and it seems at some point the water for noob river on PlayStation may have been downgraded? I’m new to the community for the game, so maybe this has been brought up in the past, but I couldn’t find anything.
Or could it be a bug? Anyway, I’ve shared a YouTube link to footage from the PS4 Pro version from a few years ago, time stamping the water. I’ve also included some of my own footage, captured directly from my PS5 that shows the water I’m seeing.
In the old footage, the water has a blue tint, similar to what is seen on PC but at a lower quality. Which is understandable. However, in my footage the water looks grey and clear. Very “flat” if that’s the right word?
I’m playing the game on quality mode.

My footage of water on PS5:
Maybe I’m crazy, but to me, the water clearly looks worse in my footage.
Also, an additional thought occurred after making my post. I wonder if my game is for some reason displaying the base PS4 graphics? I can’t find any footage of that version on YouTube, all the footage I’ve seen is captured on PS4 Pro. I do have a base PS4 at home so maybe I could test it myself.
So, did some more digging and it looks like this has been an issue for other players as well, for at least a year now. I also see that the report was received.
But nothing has been done. Is it a bug? Pretty infuriating.
Water effects were changed a few years ago. Water looks pretty on PC and Xbox Series S/X (thanks to the optimization update). PS5 never received that update and PS4 and Xbox One are simply too outdated for it. Hence, crummy water effects
One thing I did notice is the water on Isle of Siptah looks much better to me on PS5 compared to Exiled Lands. Based on the response by @Lucidique though, I imagine the Exiled Lands water is just something we’ll have to deal with on PlayStation.
