I get it people don’t like the look on water anymore.
I think the base colour is just transparent and was blue before.
But after last visual update with light enhanced the colours got lost (water no longer have this blue filter). The water reflection takes care of the colours.
I think the water look more realistic though, but that said it doesn’t mean it looks better.
Water usually reflect the sky and the surrounding area, if its very shallow it just shows the bottom ground, or dirt/sand like rolee9309 mentioned.
Cloudy day (you see the water reflect the grey clouds, its doesn’t reflect the environment that much since a lot of the sunlight is blocked by the clouds, you need light to reflect)
I doubt the art direction of Conan Exiles is going towards “more realistic”.
all the rest is too “cartoony” for that.
This seems more like a shader bug (one of the forum mods even admitted that in some thread, months and months ago iirc.)
this here is the old look:
you still want “brown water” instead of the old one?
The deeper water is, the bluer it gets. That’s why puddles and glasses of water aren’t neon blue. A deep river versus a shallow stream puddle is going to look different
