Living settlements working out?

Hiya folks, would someone who has played in official and has had to deal with it tell me how is it working out, if you please?

I keep seeing thralls at coordinates 0,0,0 on our server

Every now and then someone mentions that their thrall has disappeared.
but mostly I see new players who have a couple of crafters and they don’t care much if they lose a T1 or T2

veterans are mostly gone ( a lot of bases have already crumbled ) , or just maintaining bases and waiting for LS to shut down , no one I’ve talked to just doesn’t believe it and are afraid to take valuable t4 thralls out of chests

The “live settlement” is making the servers a dead zone at the moment , so no , the new featur doesn’t much work

If there was like “scatter”/“gather” commands, it would make some things much easier. The thralls use the water well, but they don’t unuse on command. That’s the glitch of it. I have had to use the follow/unfollow just to get them to line up on a spot I told them to move-to.

Yeah. It’s not really working out.

They’ve hotfixed to allegedly address some of the problems. But while the hotfix has improved the feature - I don’t believe that it has provided a full correction. Hence the thralls still going missing.

They’ve gone uber quiet on us now. And will not tell us if another hotfix is coming. Or if this is the product for the next six months.

In the absence of information - the only possibility is to assume the worst.

Thanks guys, what an embarrassment of a launch; I hate it that I love this stupid game so much, but my god, these devs are just pushing my favorite game ever over a cliff. Makes me sad, angry, and and leaves me in awe about the magnitude of the mediocrity and total abscence of seriousness on their part, it’s just jaw dropping.

Geez man, why in hell won’t they just turn the damn mess off, jesus, you can’t play like that.

Neat structures, btw.

I can tell you two different things here.
One…

Two…
@Kazalakis wanted to play on official servers the last couple weeks, so far we haven’t lost a crafter on 0,0,0.
So although there are undeniable facts that 0,0,0 Vortex is working, i cannot tell you that he lost something at the same time. However he builds extremely carefully and he makes sure that his crafters will always have clear path to everything.

So i would suggest you @Boulderkin since you are a veteran, not to be afraid to play and loose why not. This Vortex is awful but we can grab a chance and do something useful with it.
We can learn how to build correct for the new system and loose insignificant crafters, since you can place for starters low lvl crafters.
Another good thing now is that you can train your crafters, so even if they end up in Vortex, a high lvl and a decent gear will be good enough to keep your crafter alive. But if you play on pvp, don’t even bother, other players will end up your thrall before you know it.

Nooooooo, I am a single player kind of guy, and that abhorrent piece of code they spewed out is indefensible, under any prism. I guess you can always rescue the hat of a drowning man, but turn on LS: Hell effing no.

P.S. I am a veteran of nothing heh, a perennial apprentice.

I get you, i agree.

This one would say it is still in an unfinished state.
The biggest issues being the vortex, as noted.
As well as the unhappy habit of thralls and tavern guests opening doors to the outside world, allowing in all manner of trouble.

There are other issues with passages being blocked and the occasional thrall jam as too many people attempt to use the same set of stairs or corridor.

This one advocates, in the strongest tones possible, for the feature to be once more disabled on officials until the Vortex issue is addressed and the ability to lock doors established.

Being able to place and dress followers is grand.
The new emotes for structures and tables is very nice. This one saw a thrall in someone’s home (that this one entered because their tavern guests opened the door and this one was curious as to what the inside of their build was) sit on the edge of one of the fountains and read. It was cute.
On the other hand, this one was on a PvE-C server and had just walked right in and had free reign of this person’s belongings.
This one just left a note written in Brythunian noting that their security was compromised. Not that there is anything to be done for it at present.

Overall, this is a feature that needs longer to cook.
Even the hot patch didn’t fix it.

My problem with the feature is simple…
My base is much emptier now, since almost no carfting station is manned.
On top of that, I don’t even man all of them, since one thrall gives benefits to pretty much all other station in the base.

Immersion is hampered by thralls stuck in tables and other things

Feature is still not “ready for release” … not only because it is bugged, but also because the key idea of making your base a lively hub isn’t realized.

Just like Age of War, with the Stygian base pretty much a one time and then forget about it “event”, because frequently and endlessly spawning enemies isn’t “fun”. And the base simply is too large (would actually be a land claim abuse issue, according to their own rules) and causes laggs for many players.

or

The special spawn events not really working, and being too rare. As is the rotation of Sacred Hunt (needlessly rare) and Headhunting (was on for 5 month straight).

and lets not foget all the “features” nobody asked for or even wanted that caused major bugs or discomfort and imbalance.

What I can’t understand is why won’t they turn it off, and there is only one reason that I can fathom: we are their beta-testers, to them we aren’t an ardently loyal fan base… we are simply lab-rats.

the best is if you don’t enclose them behind 3 layers of foundations is that they have a pleasure to open doors to your enemy so they can take what they need inside your base.

live setlement for me = all crafters trapped betwen foundations an no more visibile on any workbench.

well done live seetlement…

The crafters didn’t work the benches much on official. I haven’t lost anyone since the patch.

I recently moved to a private server, and they are extremely lively. They work, drink, sit by the fire, admire displays, and sleep as intended. I suspect server load plays a part.

I am on PS5

Server load has nothing to do with it, I play single player.

You are the first and only person who is not mired in a swamp of embarrassingly mediocre code, you must be blessed by the gods or something.

Yes! Fresh start after the update. In each update both on single player and online i will create fresh characters mostly to check the update.
@speedice is not telling lies, just his observation on his fresh server with a fresh character.
But this “thing” shouldn’t work this way. Each update should be friendly to the old characters, which is not after the age of sorcery landed on our console.
After the age of sorcery single player is more and more problematic, check this post…

That’s my “truth” on single player after the age of sorcery update.

Ps. I just play, observe and report. It’s clearly feedback and worries without negative feelings. I still love and support the game nonetheless, as all of us in here

So you are saying LS works just dandy with a new character?

More like fresh server.

One of the issues with funcom testing is they do not test under server load.
The heavier the server load the worse NPCs and thralls act.

The issue I am having is followers stop attacking. I think it’s a setting, seems they either attack everything or only attack when attacked. Need an attack my target setting. Not sure it will help but wont know with out the option.

When I start crafting in a bench I want that thrall at that bench.
I’d like thralls to be idle at benches rather the wandering around.
I’d like the thralls to function on a scheduled that matches time of day.
Or maybe even set shifts.

No, just better than the thing you see right now. Just not bad!
