Regarding living settlements being renabled:
So if you lock your doors your workers crowd around the doorways and halls blocking you from getting by.
Also if you place your bar inside then patrons get stuck outside, but it you unlock the door, then your workers wander outside your base and get killed by enemies. I am built right between two 3 skulled world boses, so you can see the issue i am having. And i havent even gotten to the worst part..
If my courtyard doors are unlocked and the 3 skulled boss agros into me, it literally runs around my base to whatever door is unlocked AND WALKS RIGHT IN!!! That is absolutely crazy. I tested this several times with the door locked and unlocked. Each time it was unlocked the boss was able to stroll right in.
So my choices are to remove my tavern so that npcs arent crowded outside my walls, or lock all my thralls in a separate building which defeats the purpose of living settlements. All because the devs cant tell the difference between friendly tavern visitors and world bosses.
Ive lost all my priests to the same boss simce yesterday which was not an issue before. Please scrap living settlements and make worker thralls placeble inside the benches again so they dont wander off or count towards thrall limits.
**Brazen Fate Talks on Living SettlementsĂ—Ă—
I get why the devs want to create living settlements in Conan Exiles—a world where thralls move, interact, and make a city feel alive. It adds immersion, sure. But let’s be real—immersion means nothing if it comes at the cost of player agency. A leader should have control over their people. A warrior should command their troops. And if I want my thralls to stand at their posts like disciplined soldiers, they should obey.
I actually love that we can now place thralls at workbenches, seeing a green shadow figure before setting them down. It’s a great touch—feels intentional, purposeful. That same mechanic should extend to instruments, so musicians can sit and play, or to training dummies, so my warriors can sharpen their skills. Archers should be able to fire at targets.
And let’s take it further—if a thrall is left to fight a training dummy, let them slowly level up to 20 over time. But make it balanced—you have to keep wood in the dummy’s inventory to prevent it from breaking. No free gains, just a system that rewards preparation and maintenance.
And if the goal is movement, then let us control it. I remember playing a game in my youth where you could set an invisible path on the ground, and your pet would follow it. Imagine being able to do that for thralls—designated patrols, formations, strategic movement. That’s real immersion. A fortress where every warrior moves with purpose, every worker knows their station, and every command is obeyed. That’s how you build a kingdom worth ruling.
They should not bundle tavern patrons and work thralls in the same category. Before living setlements tavern patrons was abble to access the tavern without opening the doors, after the open doors and gates. Now if we lock a door to thralls also tavern patrons will cant open it too. A simply thing that community asked for was to has an option to make thralls sand in thier benchs. Like i place it free on world, he wander and do live settlement, if i place it on bench he stayson bench. No sense in putting a warrior thrall on te bench just to have some one working on it.
