It’s annoying to have your thralls lose their thrown weapons in every combat and potentially end up fighting bare fisted. I want to see thralls not consume throwing weapons when they throw them, but make it so the player can’t pick them up to avoid exploitation.
This could be solved by updating thrall behaviour. Them fetching their thrown weapon instead would serve this purpose well since wielding is automated.
Actually there are games now where throwing weapons are not used up.
A number of the Warriors games have things like Throwing Knives or the like.
The solution is generally to just lower the DPS of the weapons. And a short cooldown to prevent spamming it constantly.
Ideally in Conan, something like this would be the ability to throw a number of them in quick succession, to simulate the combo strings of a melee weapon. Then a cooldown after that.
So like hurl four daggers, 3-5 second cooldown, then four more.
Some weapons are also coded to return to the wielder’s hand. Some weapons have stacks, like throwing knives or kunai to add practical value. Then there’s the cooldown you mentioned. I’m not sure what you meant by DPS reduction, but you may mean a gradual reduction or just flat reduction or gradual cooldown increase or a limited appliance quantity within a timeframe. These are usually used to differentiate spells and skills on top of behaviour design to express some sort of a finite power source.
I like the idea of a cooldown, I just don’t want to constantly restock my thralls every few fights because they go through a stack of 10 or less weapons really fast. Maybe even make a range requirement, so they charge after the first or second throw.
Imo they should tie it to durability so each throw drains about a 10th of the bar so one axe gives 10 throws then breaks there’s probably a reason its not this way but i think it could work.
Throwing a weapon does drain its durability. With the T1 javelin, its takes about 5 shots to get under half durability.
