There are several pickups, like journales and notes, that can only picked up once.
If you lose them, by dying and not getting your corpse for example, or if they vanish (I still don’t know where my journals from the start have gone) they are lost forever.
On the other hand, note drops by NPCs I can collect by the hundreds.
It would be really nice if those respawned or something.
