You have to go to your abilities tab - pet’s tab and either click on them there, or drag the pet to a hotbar key.
So far I could not find anything that has pets to choose from OR the points that are available for the pets.
Any help appreciated as its really getting frustrating. Maybe I am missing something veruy easy here.

Sounds like you might be a little confused. I’ll try to sum it up for you below.
Pets
For a pet you must find it in the world as a baby. Once you pick it up off the ground in needs to be placed in an animal pen and fed, you’ll see it move to the crafting cue in the pen. After an allotted amount of time it will be full grown and can be taken out of the pen and placed on the ground via your hot bar. The animal pen is learned in your feats, it’s rather large and I recommend placing it on a foundation platform so it doesn’t decay quickly.
Necromancy
You must learn the witch doctor feat. It’s found in the summing place up the stairs to the right near a campfire.
Once learned you will need the ingredients to summon your undead army. Corrupted bone, head of an undead animal and a fragment of power. All placed on the firebowl cauldron. Once the crafting is complete you can place them the same way as pets. I think they have a short decay timer once crafted so keep a keen eye on them.

Am not sure we are talking about the same thing. As a necromancer I should have minions I can call upon. These are not the same as pets but some people are calling them pets I think. I think you are talking about taming and raising pets to fight. I am looking for the undead minions necromancers can call upon naturally.
OK. I cannot summon any minions. I have to get that book with recipes and make these pets in a cauldron? Thats what I saw in a video and it looked like anyone can learn those recipes. I thought as a necromancer I automatically had minions that I could use. I did not know I had to learn all those recipes just to summon one of my minions.
Is it possible that you are playing Age of Conan (as a Necromancer)?
