Need a way to darken my nights

How would a griefer be able to use the server option to make their nights brighter? it would be a server option you need to be an Admin to change server settings and all private servers run by individual players have an Admin Password.

Ahhhh ok. I was thinking of a graphical setting, like gamma and shaders on the client side, not server.

Yes, all my graphics Drivers are up to date. my monitors’ brightness and color levels are set perfectly as I also do Digital Photography on my computer and color and brightness settings on a monitor are VERY important otherwise your photos come out looking overexposed or underexposed when they are printed.

as stated above Conan Exiles is the only game that is giving me this problem and I feel as though I am exploiting every time I kill someone on my server cause I can see them from hundreds of feet away but they cannot see me.

And as I said up above when I turn my Gamma down in the game it does darken the night but it also makes the game look like there is a Perpetual Eclipse of the sun in the game and makes the daytime unrealistically dark and breaks my immersion and I don’t want to be setting the Gamma Settings every time its Night and Day.

No, no no… having that option on just the client side would be a bad idea, Funcom needs a server setting that the Admin that is running their own server can set the optional nighttime darkness for the server, not the individual player.

I’m guessing that is why people replying to this thread have been so hostile to the idea, perhaps they are not understanding what I am asking for…

If Funcom Did anything with the lighting levels of the Nighttime on the Client side it should only allow the individual to make their nights darker then the preset lighting effect levels and not any brighter, as you said a griefer would take advantage of that.

Here’s the problem with making it a server setting. Different people’s graphics cards will interpret light/dark differently. Not even just NVidia vs. ATI, but different models of cards that use different chipsets. Thus, what may be perfect for the server administrator is horrible for others. It’s making an arbitrary visual setting placed at the whim of ONE person. Next would be making it so the admin decided the volume of sound effects, and what animations occur.

Not everyone have the same system. By the sounds of it, you probably have a kickass system with a SOTA graphics card and all the trimmings. Myself, on the other hand, am forced to play on a POS laptop because, frankly, I’m ā€œKenny Poorā€. If I were to play on your server (hypothetically), I’d be blind in the dark now. Making it darker, I’d have no chance of seeing ANYTHING in the dark. And I can assume I’m not the only one. Now, how would that make things fair?

Yes the nights was real and good earlirer in the game when it was total black unless you had a fire closeby. Its a need to bring it back.

Thank you, was starting to think it was only me that noticed that the nights in game where no longer dark

It also depends on the moon.

First off, apologies for any typoes… typing on phobe and it does not like to type right…

You probably wouldnt want to play on my server…
im going a different direction then most of the server admins.

  1. Monsters and NPC do double the damage of the players, 3 hits by a Monster or NPC will kill a player unless they have high tier armor.

  2. Resource gathering is lowered to 0.7, resorces take longer to respawn, and exp is set to 0.5

  3. Crafting time is set to max so crafting things takes a while but crafting is set to 4x and thrall bonus is set to 5.

  4. days last for one hour and night also lasts one hour with a 20 minute dawn/dusk.

In other words im running my server on pro level of difficulty that makes it more realistic.

So having a realistic night that is dark and not like you are in a lit up city is what im wanting server settings to adjust my servers darkness levels at night, everyone I play with wants the same.

Too many easy mode servers that have no since if accomplishment.

Again, that was a hypothetical. I rent my own private server for my streaming group.

But again, that realistic to your settings, not to others. While it may be perfect for your PC set up, it may be horrifically off for others. Again, not all computers or displays are created equal.

I read on another thread you have your gamma at 1.7. I personally can’t raise my gamma above 1.0 without the screen looking horribly washed out at either day or night settings. The game’s default for that is at 1.0 as well. Out of curiousity, go through a night cycle with your gamma scaled back to 1.0, and see how dark night is. I’m stating this because that is the setting 90% of the playerbase is going to be at.

if I lower my gamma it does darken the night how I like it, but it also makes my day look too dark like there is a perpetual eclipse all the time.
