Need to know how exactly Base decays work

Hi, Am admin in very chillout PVE server. We think that the decay will help to keep the server clean and healthy but, we dont wanna lose our very big bases. Does decay make damage little by little to the structures, or does has a timer like in Ark and if you havent logged in despaanws the structures?
I need to be really sure cuz cant risk bases that have been there for over a year.

When the timer runs out, the base goes into Abandoned state for 24 hours, during which time it is flagged as “Decayed” and anyone can manually destroy individual pieces or the entire structure all at once.

After the 24 hours of abandonment pass, the next time the base is rendered in, it explodes.

I would love to be able to set a decay of 90 days. That would end my server management and cleanup except for folks who violate the “Don’t be a d*ck” rule.

Every building piece you place has a decay timer. Connected building pieces shared a decay timer. For example, if you place a foundation, then snap another to it, then snap a wall on one side, all 3 pieces will share the same decay timer. Note that the information about official server decay timer cap is outdated, because they changed it from 168 to 240 hours. Everything else is still correct, as far as I know.
