I started a new game as I have been away from it for a while. I haven’t played the new content and am curious to do so. Started the new game, got to a good start location to build my first base… and no build options for buildings. Looked at the keybindings, tried that…, nothing. Can’t build anything…

As you’ve been away for a while: the building system has been given an overhaul and pieces are no longer crafted via the inventory.
A new tool was implemented; the Construction Hammer, equipping/wielding it will allow you to build now, it’s crafted from the inventory.
While wielding the hammer you can press the “F” key to pick which building piece to place.
