I agree. Anything to improve the amount of running we have to do would be beautiful. I would be even happy with them adding more “hot spot” locations on the map. If I have to run, then why not see more cool landscapes or hidden secerts.
Do Community Managers look at the steam discussions for feedback and suggestions?
I sure do love the occasional “what are the devs doing!” thread. Love it in Quake Champions day in day out, and I love it even more here. Both being, mind you early access games from smaller teams and budgets (yes, for those that dont know QC is more of a side project rather than a fleshed out Bethesda/id title like Doom Eternal which they are working on).
I would respond, to those that apparently know how long it should take for things to be developed so as to comment to it, that their perception of “press button to make good art” is not correct. Even a stupid little addition at times can take a lot more than one thinks or even intends. Especially sometimes with products that have more working parts to them already finished (that being, making sure said addition does not break anything else when it is deployed).
As for the main points to the thread.

This mention seems more like a hint to me and stated in a way that they do not want to get hopes up and expectations since it depends on other workloads to be done. So anything can be interpreted from this.

I dont think sorcery is as much a thing of “can it/will it be done” as much as should it be done. I have seen some feedback, and within that myself included, that believe sorcery does NOT belong in this game beyond a minimal extent. This isnt WoW with fireball throwing wizards at every second corner. This is Hyboria. And even the few sorceries within this world are that, few in number, and rarities that make them for (even in terms of lore) tools for larger encounters.
If anything it adds so much more that we are normal exiles running around, and we are getting glipmses into this world of sorcery with magical bracelets and ghosts and enemy encounters that are beyond mortal reasoning.
TL:DR for 2) I vote for no sorcery in this game. No thanks. I dont want it. If I want to be hurling fireballs and casting lightnings I can do that in a zillion other mmos and action games. It simply does not fit Conan imo and it was also one of the things that ruined immersion for me in AoC.
- It has been stated several times that mounts as an idea have been dropped due to the way the land loads up into memory or something? Idk. Maybe this was an excuse to leave it on the side for now and work on it later. But on that point, the reason you saw flying carpets in mods is exactly that. They do not need to worry about collisions when in the air and hence a work-around. Which means, the only viable solution is flying mounts? Or something?
This would be even more immersion breaking than sorcery at this point. Going from no ground mounts to areal mounts on the go.
- The map is large enough mate. They stated several times they will not add to the layout of the map. And I am fine with this. It is one of the most robust and unique maps I have ever seen. Further more, it will completely throw the entire story/setup out the window. With the fence holding us in, the Obelisks to travel around, etc. Atm, it feels perfect for the sandbox area that we are in.
This however does not mean they will not be revamping dungeons and adding more locations that are “off” the map. Like the Sunken City for example and the Silver Mines. Did you forget about those 2 additions in your whole “no more planned content” thread???
I kinda would like to see another map. But only if it fits to the way the story is. And that is not easy and if we never get one its understandable. Maybe if the game can support itself for at least 5 more years it can conjure up some expansion to it that will allow players to go to some other place upon getting rid of their bracelets. And in this manner also allow them to come back to the exiled lands as well, same way some of the Relic Hunters and Conan are going back and forth in it without any restraints since the wall cannot effect them anymore.
I wont hold my breath for this, and again, its something I barely expect as it will again ruin certain things on the existing map. Such as giving a new reason why there are boundaries to this land even when our bracelets are off. (They could ofc treat that as a menu that prompts us to fast travel out of the Exiled Lands whenever we reach that fence, so there are ways around it, I simply do not expect it and I am more than happy with what we have. I just want existing content revamped, more dungeons, make existing dungeons actual dungeons and not just a hole with a boss in it, that is a boss area not a dungeon, etc. Things like that. And cosmetics.)
Alright, we’re closing this now as it has derailed into a string of childish banter.
