@Taemien has made some very valid points in his post and presented some frankly solid ideas to reshape the system within. And he is right that the current system sucks. If anything it should look something more like:
Pet < T1/2 Thralls < T3 Thralls < T4 Thralls~=Greater Pets
This would be a welcomed change and I would applaud it and welcome it with open arms. Heck, I would potentially even consider T4 Thrall < Greater Pets. The simple fact of the matter is that there are camps where there are guaranteed T4 spawns, or ones where the chances are downright up there. For example, Nabatu, Sully, Freya. And just look at the T4 give aways on the Age of Sorcery: Chapters 2-3. And even if you do not consider them to be T4s, the simple fact of the matter is that Relic Hunters and Cimmerian Berserkers are available by the bucket load and also have guaranteed spawns.
Now lets compare that to Greater Pets. The big difference here is the RNG factor. Just look at how much grind is typically needed to obtain a black yetti or a frost giant pet. Then the other Greaters also need Shadebloom, which requires a dungeon run or a blind luck smaller quantity off a corrupted animal. And even then when we craft the shadespiced food, there is another layer of RNG. The time and resource investment needed to procure most Greater Pets surpasses the difficulty of obtaining a T4 thrall.
At the very least, Greater Pets should be equally as viable as T4 thralls.
How to say āI stopped reading at the first paragraphā without actually saying it.
Hereās what you said:
Hereās what I said in full:
That wasnāt a statement of opinion, it was a statement of fact. Right now with a well equipped Thugra, you can have it solo pretty much any boss in the game (with some exceptions).
Is there a greater pet that can do the same? To my knowledge as of Age of Sorcery none could. If that has changed in Age of War, and it can be verified I will happily retract my statement. But in my experience thusfar, many Greater Pets struggle to do 2 digit damage. Whereas T4 thralls can hit for hundreds of damage.
I can agree with this. And if youāve read the entire post you would see a means to make that happen.
But should is not IS. And right now they are no where near equal and until Iām shown otherwise, I consider them vastly inferior. They lack damage, armor, and health to be worth using. Regardless of how rare they are. That just makes them even more worthless.
Well for now pets are just decoratives and RP sadly.
Maybe new age things are gonna be different.
As for today regular version of pets just pointless, greater are better, but not worth investing time to 20 lvl ups (thralls are much better). Pvp\Pve no matter - all pets just for RP thats all.
T3-4 NPCs and bosses hitting them like a trucks.
Better pet system would be smth like this:
-all pets starts with regular version (no greather variants at all), that how you give them value
-regular pets get buffs at stats + some new abilities (passive and active)
-to convert pet into elite version you must reach certain lvl and criteria (rare resources needed)
-to convert pet into epic\mini boss version you must reach certain lvl and criteria (very expensive)
So basically pet follower gonna have not 2 but 3 tiers (like scorpion pet for ex).
Regular, elite, boss. Better tier have better stats + better expanded abilities and buffs.
Each tier with own model and appearance + some unique animations, sounds and effects.
To much work for single update i know, so maybe Age of Beasts then?
You are correct @Taemien, this is what I have done on this occasion. You and a few other members such as CodeMage are kind of notorious for long posts such as these. I have made an erroneous assumption that this was the argument behind your post. But as I have always said (check it in the search enginge too if you like). āI am always humble enough to admit when I am wrongā, and this is one such occasion. My apologies to you for the unwarranted argument.
Having now gone back and read your post in full, I can now say that you have some fine ideas. Furthermore, I agree with you that this is the situation we are currently in; the state of both pets and thralls as it stands now, the disparity between the two, and the need to change the current system for the better.
No need. As the error here was my own I will retract mine instead, and modify the post to reflect one of mutual agreement, as it now turns out is what we have.
