Now when your ‘Pause Update’ timer has elapsed you will no longer be able to pause the updates.
For a ‘run of the mill’ private PC not a problem. But if your PC is a gaming server then it becomes a big problem. You have no control of when your PC will restart to install the update(s). There is an uncontrollable 6 hour window when the updates will install and the PC will restart (if needed).
You will now need to continuously monitor your server, so you can restart if/when needed.
That is hilarious but what’s more hilarious is the number of people that did not see it coming. I switched to Mac over 10 years ago and I use a PlayStation 5 for gaming. PC gaming is now a digital dystopia.
I have been playing CE a little bit over 2 weeks with Linux Mint. After tweeking runs (even better?) than win 11. I am solo/private player but tested a few minutes on Offical PVE and no problems.
Conan devkit works ok on Heroic Games Launcher. (After I found ge-proton that work on my rig, still bit slower than win, I think?, but editing and cooking works just fine).
There might be better distro to gamers but Mint had some other features what I was looking for.
[edit: the main point]: I migrated everything from win OS (savegame(server), mods, ini -files etc.) to Linux Mint. And there were no problems, didn’t loose anything.
Playing on console, in turn, brings restrictions on mods, private servers and other issues. In the end, all our devices have become data mining / ad selling / “micro”transaction machines. It’s not only Microsoft or Windows that’s the problem, it’s the whole business culture. It’s become money milking, not money making.
