PC Game Pass version no longer able to connect to our server/Version too old

We have a server at g-portal where a group of us play on, half of the folks are playing via Steam, and the other half are using the PC Game Pass version. We played a few times since the Sorcery update and all was good, but haven’t played for a few weeks. We decided to play tonight (11.5.22) but all of the PC Game Pass folks are getting a message that their client is out of date (the Steam folks are connecting fine). We (the PC Game Pass players) are all showing the same version:

PC Game Pass Version
– Version: 40811.334.6710.0
– Last Update: 9/6/2022

The Steam people in our group have:
– Version: 428377/35099
– (no last update info)

One of the PC Game Pass folks uninstalled/reinstalled but that didn’t change the version.

Is there an update inbound for the PC Game Pass players?

UPDATE: I uninstalled/reinstalled one more time and this time it pulled down the right version of the game. On first launch of that install it actually found our server but popped that same version error, however after closing the game and relaunching it now joins the server just fine.

When was the last time you restarted/updated your server. It may be the server that needs to be updated. :man_shrugging:

Greetings Exile,

Thank you for getting back to us. Since a fresh reinstall is not forcing the app to pull the missing files please suggest the following steps to your friends:

  • Repair & restore the gaming services app. You can find this option by following:

Windows settings > Apps > Gaming services app > Select advanced options > Select repair and after it > restore.

After these steps, please open the app and give it another try. Let us know if this does the trick or not. We will continue to try to assist you.
