Hotfix (16.06.2017)

Summary

We’re rolling out another hotfix to take care of some exploits and bugs. Make sure you restart your clients and make sure you have the latest update.

Changelog

  • EXPLOIT FIX: Disabled a console command which could let you push foundations into rocks
  • EXPLOIT FIX: Field of view maximum value is now capped
  • DECAY SYSTEM: Fixed a bug where placing a placeable on a foundation would not update its decay info before a server restart
  • DECAY SYSTEM: Fixed a bug that made the decay info you see when holding a repair hammer not properly update on parts of a building
  • Avatar of Yog should no longer get stuck on collision when performing the dive attack
  • Client ping for connections that pass the ping limit is now logged
  • Reduced the MaxAllowedPing value on official servers. Please give us feedback on how this is working

Known Issues

  • DECAY SYSTEM: Building score and decay time not propagated to all placeables (chests and crafting stations are unaffected by this bug)
  • DECAY SYSTEM: Decayed structures can sometimes reset their status on a server restart. We are working on a fix.

  • Corrected tucking displays for certain armor sets and NPCs.

Summary

Patch Notes

  • Avatars should no longer be possible to summon inside the dome

Update 27 (01.06.2017): Now you can destroy avatars!

Summary

A new update has been released! This one comes with traps, new placeables and several bug and exploit fixes. Please restart your games and update your servers to make sure you’re on the latest version.

TLDR

  • Avatars can now be damaged. Each attack against an avatar will remove some time from the summoning timer until the avatar finally disappears. The amount of time removed depends on the amount of damage done.
  • NEW CONTENT: Added a new weapon type: Orbs. There are four orb types: fire, poison, oil, water. Orbs can be crafted in the firebowl cauldron, by an alchemist thrall. Orbs create combo fields with a variety of effects. Different orb types interact with combo fields in different ways. I.e.: Demon-fire Orbs leave a patch of fire on the floor. Grease Orbs leave a slippery patch. Grease Orbs thrown into Demon-fire create a larger patch of fire. Orbs are designed to be T1-level demolition tools, but can also be used in combat for damage and area control.
  • NEW CONTENT: Added avatar defense. Tier 3 altars with an archpriest can perform a ritual that creates a large protective area around the altar. Any Avatar entering the area is blasted with divine fury. Projectiles are blocked by a small shield dome around the altar itself. The ritual lasts for 36 hours.
  • NEW CONTENT: Added drawbridge

  • Added a max ping filter (MaxAllowedPing). It is enabled on official servers by default. Private server admins can turn this on in the server settings with the MaxAllowedPing by setting the value to something other than 0. Value is max ping (ms) allowed.
  • The map will now show players carrying an avatar token as well as active rituals of protection.
  • It should now be possible to shoot through window frames
  • Small campfires now require only 5 branches.
  • Weight of leather is now more consistent with other resources
  • Hitpoints on building pieces have been drastically increased. The new Orbs fill the function of T1 explosives. Explosive Jars are now T2 explosives.
  • Combat update: Basic attacks do less damage and won’t consume stamina. Heavy attacks do relatively more damage, but requires more stamina. We are working on a fix that will allow us to add a higher stamina cost to heavy attacks.
  • Combat update: Poise values have been updated. Weapons now have knockback power according to the weapon type. I.e. all maces have the same knockback power, regardless of level. 2-handed hammer attacks do the same amount of damage for both basic and heavy attacks. Additionally, heavy attacks knock you down unless you’re wearing a full heavy armor set. Expect more changes to weapon functions and poise values as we keep working on this.
  • Combat update: Crossbows now have more knockback power than bows. Existing ammo types no longer affect knockdown power.
  • Armor should no longer protect you from fall damage

Performance and Tech Fixes

  • Teleporting should now work correctly in local play
  • Optimized physics objects to improve server performance

  • All machine placeables that have an on/off system have looping sounds for ‘on’ states. However the sound of someone working the machine does not turn off when the machine is turned off
  • Text on Signposts should no longer require logging off/on to appear in single-player
  • Server password should now persist when continuing a single-player game
  • All perishables with perish-rate should now decay completely, and not leave the last item of the stack alive.
  • Removed “Invite Friend” button from main menu as it wasn’t working correctly
  • Undead Kappa, Undead Skeletal Lizardman, Kappa King, and Baby Kappas should all have proper hitboxes now
  • Destroyed trebuchet should now drop loot no matter how it’s destroyed
  • Increased hitpoints on various placeables

  • Firebowl cauldron has been changed from an automatic combination machine to a recipe-based crafting station. They have become an alchemy station and cannot be used for cooking anymore. Alchemy items can be learned from the Firebowl cauldron feat, or crafted by certain thralls.

  • It should now be possible to shoot through window frames
  • Small campfires now require only 5 branches.

  • Vapor Traps now trigger after a 0.1 second delay, down from 1 second
  • Flawless and Exceptional Hyrkanian bows should now do more damage and have more durability than the base bow, as is intended

Server Settings

  • Added a max ping filter (MaxAllowedPing). It is enabled on official servers by default. Private server admins can turn this on in the server settings with the MaxAllowedPing by setting the value to something other than 0. Value is max ping (ms) allowed.
  • Servers should no longer appear grayed out when changing filters

Audiovisual Improvements

  • Updated range at which low res models are being displayed
  • Updated textures on Large water well
  • Updates textures on Stygian/Large carpet
  • Updated physics to crocodiles and dragons
  • Added a system for tucking clothes when they overlap
  • Improved shield hitting and shield breaking audio
  • Doors opening and closing should no longer be heard from miles away
  • Corrected visibility/tucking bug when equipping heavy armor pieces
  • EXPLOIT FIX: Updated player and texture collision to prevent players from building inside certain cliff walls.
  • Our audio lead will no longer speak to you when you’re taking damage

Text and Localization

  • Added missing text to the new items

Known Issues

  • Siege cauldron boiling tar visual effects are still work in progress
  • Repair hammer shows damaged buildings up to 5 meters away instead of 15 meters due to performance degredation. We are working on a fix.
  • Spamming basic attacks will sometimes trigger an instant heavy attack. This is a recurring issue that was made more apparent with the change to stamina costs. We are working on a fix.
  • Alt-tabbing out of the game then placing items won’t show them as visible

Special announcement
Some of the PvP Blitz servers are getting updated with PvP raid timers, only allowing players to raid each other between 5pm (17.00) to 11.59pm (23.59) on weekdays, and 10am (10.00) to 11.59pm (23.59) on weekends. These servers used to have avatars switched off, but with the new avatar defense features now being implemented we wanted to re-purpose them to be servers with limited times for player versus player combat.

The following servers will be named thusly:

Mods

  • Modders can now make their very own item tables. These will supplement our item table instead of replacing them. As well as any other data table they wish to modify.
  • Modders can register components to be added to an actor when it is spawned. Which enables them to add new replicated events without having to touch any of the core blueprints.

Cinematics

  • Added more spoopy ghosts to the game

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • It can be more difficult to get out of the water in the Dregs dungeon due to our desync fix. We are looking into this issue.
  • A couple of NPCs in certain camps will not react to attacks. This will be fixed in a future update.

Hotfix (28.04.2017)

Summary

We’ve released a hotfix for some issues players have been having since our last patch. In this hotfix are also some new exploit fixes.

Patch notes:

  • Old foundations will no longer remain when upgrading to a higher tier
  • Chat should now scroll automatically
  • EXPLOIT FIX: You can no longer dodge through certain building pieces on logout/login
  • EXPLOIT FIX: Disabled player input while logging out
  • Players on PvE servers can now die of hunger/thirst/suicide/fall damage (for realz this time)
  • Fixed a problem which prevented you from harvesting bushes multiple times

Known issues:

  • We are aware of problems related to the new emotes (locking characters, inability to swim, etc) and will be putting out a fix in our next patch
  • Resources nodes don’t crumble and disappear like normal. This will also be addressed in our next patch

Update 25 (25.04.2017): Dance the night away with new emotes

Summary

A new update has been released! This one comes with over 50 emotes and several bug and exploit fixes. Please restart your games and update your servers to make sure you’re on the latest version.

Summary

We’ve put out a new hotfix. Please update restart your clients to make sure they have the latest version.

Changelog:

  • Hunger and thirst notifications are no longer broadcast to nearby players
  • Added Oceania to the list of regions in the server browser
  • Avatar summoning tokens (true name of X) have durability and a decay rate of 48 hours

UPDATE 24 (06.04.2017): You can now explore the dark and mysterious Dregs

Throughout Early Access we would like to reward our community for bringing big exploits to our attention. One of the most important things we can do to make sure Conan Exiles provides a fair and balanced playing field is making sure we eliminate exploits as early as possible.

By working together we can more easily discover exploits which ruin the fun of playing Conan Exiles. So please tell us if you discover such major exploits, and you may receive a nice reward for your efforts and for helping the entire community.

What we are looking for:

  • Serious exploits which can be used in online play and on multiplayer servers. (This would for example be exploits which gave certain players big advantages in the game, like duplicating items or being able to build inside mountains/rocks.)

How to proceed if you find such a serious exploit:

  • Go to conanexiles.com/exploithunters and write a detailed test case for the exploit. You must describe each step needed to reproduce what you have found. Please include your PayPal email so we can reward you for your help. Also, please include your name or Steam user name if you wish it to be included in our list of rewarded Exploit Hunters.
  • We will evaluate all the submissions sent to us but only respond to and reward those which have revealed a serious exploit which we were not aware of.

If we deem your submission valuable you may receive a reward of between $100 and $500 sent to you via PayPal. The size of the reward will depend on how valuable we deem your submission. Every rewarded Exploit Hunter which has included their name or Steam name will be listed in the Tech Support and Bug Reports forum on Steam.

Please note, you will not be rewarded if:

  • We were already aware of the serious exploit you discovered.
  • Someone else had already submitted a report on the serious exploit you had found.
  • We do not deem the exploit you found to be severe enough.

Announcing the Exploit Hunters!

We’re still in the early days of our Early Access adventure and there is a lot work left to be done before final release of Conan Exiles in Q1 2018. The feedback we receive from you, the community, is invaluable to us in making sure we improve gameplay, squish bugs, and solve issues ahead of that final release.

One of the most important things we can do to make sure Conan Exiles provides a fair and balanced playing field is making sure we eliminate exploits as early as possible.

To help us with that we will soon be introducing the Exploit Hunters program. Here we will be rewarding players who provide us with information about the most serious exploits. With your help, we will be better equipped to handle potential future exploits which can destabilize servers and avoid the need for server wipes after serious cheating by catching them early.

We will be providing more information and details on the Exploit Hunters program next week.

Server Wipes

  • We are wiping all buildings on official non-blitz servers due to recent exploits (private servers are unaffected by this)
  • We are wiping all inventories (player backpack, containers etc) due to recent exploits (private servers unaffected by this)
  • We are keeping player character levels (but you get a free re-spec) due to feat changes discussed in TLDR below. Please give us feedback on these changes.
  • Server admins on private servers may perform a building and inventory wipe which keeps character levels by using the ServerCleanup.bat file in the gamedb folder to clean the current game database

  • Known Issue: Yellow Lotus Potions sometimes have no effect. This will be fixed as quickly as possible, and in the meantime we recommend not using them.
  • EXPLOIT FIX: Players can no longer use building previews to move themselves around
  • This specifically addresses issues with Explosive Jar and Well placement previews
  • EXPLOIT FIX: Players can no longer use chairs to travel great distances
  • EXPLOIT FIX: The crouch/jump “boost” should now be fixed

  • Made more monsters able to damage structures. Some can even damage T3 buildings!

Asian region servers are being brought up right now. These servers will have 2x XP and 2x Harvesting for 1 week [excluding Blitz PvP servers]. These servers are physically located outside of Asia. We are still waiting for new server hardware to arrive in Asia. Once the hardware has arrived we will move the game databases onto the servers located in Asia.

General Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • Spider projectiles have the correct size again
  • Voice chat now uses Steam peer-to-peer. This should fix cases where voice chat did not work in addition to improving server performance
  • Voice chat should have less latency and clicks. Please give us feedback about how the new voice chat works and suggest improvements.

Middle-Eastern countries have been moved out of the game`s Asian region.


HOTFIX 18.2.2017

We once again recommend that server owners change the admin password once their servers are updated. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you and your respective communities.

Bugs and Fixes

  • Fixed a vulnerability with server administrator passwords

After this patch we will start the process of re-enabling BattlEye on official servers. It was always our intention to eventually do this after removing it from the official servers shortly after Early Access launch. When the official servers have been patched they will be restarted with BattlEye implemented.

Since Early Access launch we’ve been regularly updating and patching the game and found no correlation between server performance and BattlEye.

Re-implementing BattlEye will also help combat cheating and hacking on official servers.

Balance and Gameplay Fixes

  • Some skill requirements have been simplified or removed. For example, it is now possible to learn Journeyman Craftsman as soon as you hit level 10. Due to the impact of this change all players have gotten a free skill respec.
  • Ansel now respects collision, preventing people from moving through walls and other structures
  • Non Admins are restricted to 2 meters of movement when using Ansel
  • Balance pass on Bows:
  • Simple Bow range has been increased
  • Hyrkanian Bow range has been dramatically increased
  • Crossbow range has been reduced but they now shoot much faster
  • We have done an overhaul on what monsters can damage which tier of buildings. If you haven’t upgraded from sandstone you might want to think about doing that.
  • Increased crafting XP across the board with greater increases for crafting more complex (higher tier) items
  • Inverted Wooden Roof Wedge and Stonebrick Frame now require Journeyman Craftsman instead of Master Craftsman
  • Black rocks in the starting desert are now harvestable

  • Players with high strength should now be able to knock out NPCs with the truncheon instead of killing them.

  • Fixed steam://connect/ip handling - Steam connect works now so that sites such as www.topconanservers.com should work properly now.
  • Fixed an issue in the Land Claim system that could allow players to build too close to other players. This may result in some lost building pieces if they overlap into land that had already been claimed by another player.
  • We have had some issues with the game state getting corrupt on servers in certain cases. We have made the interactions with the game database more robust, and added regular checks for its integrity during runtime. We have also fixed some cases where this would happen, but are still investigating if there are other potential occurrences.

As counter measures to the system, and since already corrupted databases will not be automatically recoverable we have implemented a recovery system:

On server startup, if the game encounters a corrupted Database it will attempt to recover to the last database backup that is not corrupted. This will make the status of the game be reverted to a previous working world state, which may result in loss of progression. To help with this, the game will now creating database backups much more often.

These are temporary measures while we keep working to eliminate the database corruption altogether.

Thanks for your patience while we work through this, and a special thanks to all of you who have been actively helping us diagnose and debug these issues.

  • Weapons found in chests will not be able to hurt Sandstone buildings.
  • Projectiles (Arrows) will no longer do damage to buildings of any type.
  • We have added a “Player List” GUI to the admin panel. Admins will be able to use this to get a list of all the players currently connected to their server. From this list they will be able to ban unwelcome players from their server.

Patch (31.01.2017): Early Access launch hotfix

  • Fixed an issue that was causing disconnects when joining servers in certain cases
