PC Hotfix (15.11.2018)

Summary

Hey everyone!

We’re rolling out a quick hotfix for the PC to take care of some issues that popped up after the post-Halloween patch. Please not that this patch contains no updates to the Purge system. That is planned to come out in a future patch.

The dev kit will release at the same time as this patch so mod creators can update their mods right away.

Changelog

  • Fixed an issue with thrall recipes not being visible when the user reenters any crafting station
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the user from scrolling up and down within any crafting station when using a controller
  • Fixed a Quick Loot functionality issue for loot bags, where loot bags weren’t quick loot-able, even by their owner

PC Post-Halloween Patch (07.11.2018)

Summary

Dear exiles,

We have released a new patch for the PC version of Conan Exiles and removed the Halloween content from the game. We know the Night of Lost Souls event hasn’t been everyone’s cup of tea and we’re taking several lessons away from the feedback we’ve gotten this past week.

Thank you to everyone for voicing your opinions and for offering tips on future events. We take it all to heart.

The dev kit will not be available at the release of this patch, but we’re working on getting it released. Shouldn’t take more than a day or two and mods shouldn’t be super incompatible without it.


This patch contains a number of updates to the Event Log so it will log more information related to pets, thralls and items. We’ve also fixed several bugs related to player corpses and we believe we’ve also managed to fix the well bug.

Highlights:

  • Event Log changes (see below for more details)
  • Halloween event has ended. The Potion of Lost Souls and any resources harvested during the event will remain in player inventory until consumed or decayed.
  • Wells should now be re-filling as intended
  • Fixed an issue where having several of buff/debuff icons on screen would cause a lot of lag

Exploit Fixes

  • Fixed an exploit where players could manipulate and duplicate thrall inventories

Event Log changes

  • Dismantled placeables will now show up as intended in the Event Log
  • Items dropping from destroyed placeables will now be listed in the Event Log when they’ve decayed
  • Update to the “Days Passed” slider in the Event Log to be more consistent
  • Event log entries can now stack and be displayed in one row instead of multiple.
  • Database maintenance: Remove Event Log entries older than 3 weeks
  • Companion names should now be displayed properly in the Event Log when they are hungry, starving or returning home
  • Made companion cause of death more consistent in the Event Log (Please note: The Event Log does not support custom companion names):
    – Player and Clan name will be displayed when a follower is killed by another player
    – NPC name will be displayed when a follower is killed by an NPC
    – Starvation/fall damage/noxious damage will be displayed when a follower dies by these
  • The Event Log should now display item names as intended
  • Dragging an item from a Crafting Station and dropping it on a stack of said items in the inventory should now create an entry in the Event Log

Bug Fixes

  • Wells should now be re-filling as intended
  • Fixed a bug where traps could be returned to player inventory after exploding
  • Fixed a bug where corpses would disappear if a player died underwater.
  • Fixed an issue where an Avatar’s timer wouldn’t update correct on Dedicated Servers
  • Fixed a bug where accessing a vault would cause lag and hitching
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to loot XX_Unarmed items from Thralls
  • Fixed a bug where unconscious NPCs would disappear if they fall or slide away from a space where they were released from their bindings (like a cliff)
  • Fixed an issue where having several of buff/debuff icons on screen would cause a lot of lag
  • The Degenerate should no longer spawn two corpses when killed
  • Removed guards on letting following companions teleport to you. Pets should now follow you more reliably into your compounds
  • Fixed a bug where attempting to move a pet or thrall would have them turn invisible if the player moved too far away from their original placement.
  • Fix a visual bug causing the blood spatter background of certain Feat filter icons to disappear
  • Fixed a possible leak in SQLite DB handling due to missing ‘virtual’ keyword on ~QueryResultBase
  • Explosive Arrows should no longer do damage to buildings on PvE servers.

Environment Changes

  • Removed the ability to reach a unplayable area in the Black Keep
  • Fixed a collision issues with the barriers in the Midnight Grove
  • Fixed an issue where the curse wall spline had many points that had inverted rotation, causing issues with not being able to build in random places. Also removed a duplicate of the curse wall spline that existed right on top of the original one.
  • Removed the ability to reach a unplayable area in Bin-Yakin’s Seal cave ceiling

Quality of Life Changes

  • Added a “Clear” button to the Server Browser, to more easily remove entries in Server Name and Maximum Ping filters
  • The Crafting Station UI will now display the name of the crafting station instead of “Crafting Station”
  • Loot bags from demolishes buildings will now have ownership and can’t be looted, similar to loot bags from thralls and player corpses

Localization Changes

  • Various localization fixes on DLC items

PC Halloween Hotfix (1.11.2018)

Summary

Hey everyone,

Today, we’re rolling out a hotfix to take care of the most reported issues with the Halloween update released yesterday. We want to thank our community for reporting these issues to us and for staying patient and positive as we fixed them.

In this hotfix we’re tweaking the game so it will be easier for players to see in the eternal twilight, while also balancing the loot drops from the Halloween meteors. The T2 doors are also getting fixed.

If it’s still too dark for you you can also tweak the following server settings (in game or in an .ini file) to the following values. This will make it less dark:

  • DayCycleSpeedScale=9.000000
  • DayTimeSpeedScale=0.10000
  • NightTimeSpeedScale=10.000000
  • DawnDuskSpeedScale=5.000000

If you do not wish to participate in the Halloween event, there will be a build available on our Testlive branch without the Halloween content, but otherwise identical to the current live version.

If you switch branches and play single-player, you might want to take a backup copy of your game.db file to avoid potentially losing your save data.

Server admins might also want to back up their server’s game.db file for people to be able to continue with their characters on your server, just in case.

How to find and copy your game.db
  • Open Steam and go to your library
  • Right click on Conan Exiles and choose Properties
  • Find and select the tab marked “Local Files” and click the “Browse Local Files” button. A Windows Explorer folder should now pop up
  • Go to ConanSandbox --> Saved to find your game.db file
  • Make a copy of it in an easily accessible place on your computer
  • Once you’ve patched to the Testlive branch, simply drop the game.db file you copied before into the Saved folder, replacing what’s already there, and you can continue playing as you normally would

Changelog

  • Fixed T2 doors so you cannot walk through them
  • Removed Star Metal Picks, Dragonpowder and Skeleton Keys from meteors for balancing purposes
  • Meteor fragments that have been harvested or disappeared won’t leave a particle trail behind
  • Changed speed of day on official servers so it will not get as dark during the Halloween event
  • Added auto exposure to compensate for the darkness and make things a bit brighter

An equivalent patch is also being made for consoles, but we’re looking into fixing the spammy meteors first.


PC Halloween Update (31.10.2018)

Summary

Today we are kicking off our Halloween event, which will run throughout the game during the next week. Welcome, exiles, to the Night of Lost Souls!

The sky will darken as perpetual dusk falls upon the landscape, casting it in black shadows and blue light, tearing at the boundaries which separate the world of the living from the realms of the dead. The clouds will part. A new face will appear upon the moon’s surface. It is the face of death, keeping watch over whatever might stir on the ground below.

During the Night of Lost Souls, stones will fall from the sky in multitudes, striking the earth in a flurry of colored smoke and debris. Adventurous exiles can break open these stones with whatever tool they have available. Inside, they will find a plethora of crafting ingredients, both rare and common, doled out at random by the spirits lingering inside the stones, anything from Plant Fiber and Meat to Explosive Glands, Arrows and Steelfire. It all depends on the spirit’s goodwill.

Inside the fallen stones you will also discover the Potion of Lost Souls, a special brew only available on this hallowed night. Imbibing the Potion will grant you certain benefits at random. Drink one and see what happens, but don’t drink too many or your body will suffer the consequences. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

After a week, the Night of Lost Souls will pass and the sun will once again rise on the Exiled Lands. The restless spirits will be calm, yet their gifts will remain with those who received them.

Halloween Event Server Settings

You can use the following console commands to control meteor spawns and decay where X is the multiplier for time.

  • SetServerSetting HalloweenMeteorDecayTimer=X
    – The higher number, the rarer meteors are. Set this to a low number for more or less constant meteors.
  • SetServerSetting HalloweenMeteorSpawnTimer=X

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the message “Pet/Thrall is no longer following you” would pop up randomly, even if you didn’t have pets following you
  • Companion hunger should no longer reset to maximum value in a single-player game after restarting the game
  • Fixed a bug that let you equip armor on pets
  • Fixed a bug where an Animal Pen would not be able to craft Pets after clearing the queue while a Pet was being tamed.
  • Fixed a bug where a new character’s gender could not be selected

QoL updates

  • Event Log will now log damage, death and destruction events made by pets, thralls and non-persistent NPCs
  • Added GUI/filter options for event logging
  • Toned down the damage caused by explosive arrows as they were a bit too powerful
  • Disabled file handling caching in FGenericAsyncReadFileHandle for editor builds. This is needed by the mod devkit as it mounts pak files while still being an editor build

Known Issues

  • Sometimes the Halloween meteors will disappear after hitting the ground. This is fairly uncommon, but might affect some of you.

PC Hotfix (18.10.2018)

Summary

Hey everyone! It’s time for another PC hotfix!

This update will take care of some pets and thrall issues that needed addressing. These changes will make it to PS4 and Xbox at a later date.

  • Fixed an issue with pets decaying in animal pens
  • Fixed an issue with food disappearing from Pet and Thrall inventories upon first server restart
  • Fixed an issue with Thralls and Pets reacting to players receiving environmental damage

PC Hotfix (12.10.2018)

Summary

Hey everyone,

We’re rolling out a hotfix patch for the PC version to take care of a couple of exploits and a bunch of different bugs that were caught after the Pets Update went live.

  • Fixed an exploit involving pet names
  • Fixed an exploit where players could glitch themselves through the map
  • Fixed an issue with the Avatar of Jhebbal Sag remaining active longer than set Avatar lifetime
  • Fixed an issue with Werewolves not attacking anymore after howling

  • Fixed an issue where the Flawless Khitan Shield could not be crafted
  • Fixed an issue with Crocodile Hatchlings turning into Tamed Spotted Hyenas

Update 34 (Part 2: Electric Boogaloo) – Pet System (09.10.2018)

Summary

The latest free update to Conan Exiles lets you raise and tame the wild beasts of the Exiled Lands. Pets will fight for you, defend your settlements and produce valuable resources while confined to their pet pens.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT MOD COMPATIBILITY

This update includes several code changes from the previously deployed version. Depending on these changes, some mods built with the previous dev kit may or may not work as intended. Mods are less likely to break as they did in the last patch as this is a smaller update, and a new dev kit was released when this patch went live.

Pet system and taming

You asked for it and we are happy to deliver:
From today on forward you will be able to tame and raise your very own pet(s). Explore the Exiled Lands with your trusty companion by your side or build a farm to have them produce materials for you.

You will want to start your career as a Beastmaster by building an animal pen for your new future friends. These shelters come in three different tiers and have 5 available pens to hold your animals.

Following this, you will need to obtain a baby or an egg. These can be found in the world, and on certain (rare) vendors so keep your eyes open while you travel! You’ll be able to place your baby pet version into the pen and have them grow into an adult and trusty companion over time.

However, don’t forget to feed and treat them well or you might just end up with a carcass!

While you have a baby animal in your pen, the type of food you offer it will influence your chances to have your baby grow into a greater pet version: A rarer, more powerful and special looking variation.

The new pet system will also introduce the mechanic of thrall feeding. Special Feed boxes and Thrall Pots are available for easier, automatic food distribution to several pets or thralls for those of you who are planning for bigger armies of two and four legged friends.

While keeping your pets happy and fed they will eat any type of food that they can digest. However, feeding them their favorite snacks will grant them temporary buffs.

Very conveniently, live animals will also produce dung, which is used to create compost for your planters.

Even in the sad and unfortunate event of your pet’s untimely death, you can still make use of them. Placing dead pets inside a Liquid Separator will grind them down into blood, bone and hide resources.

Update 34 (04.10.2018) - The Midnight Grove and Jhebbal Sag religion

Summary

Gather 'round everyone, for on this day, October 4th, we’re releasing the next update for Conan Exiles! Well, sort of.

We’re releasing half of the Pets Update, meaning you’re getting the Midnight Grove, the Jhebbal Sag religion and thrall hunger system. The pets system will be released at a later date and we’re currently aiming for next week.

The Midnight Grove & Jhebbal Sag Religion

The Midnight Grove is where you learn the Jhebbal sag religion path, the sixth and final religion in Conan Exiles. You have to traverse a labyrinthian maze, facing down many dangers along your path before you make it to the end and discover the final challenge: Jhebbal Sag’s champion.

Defeating the werewolf and consuming its flesh will give you the knowledge of Jhebbal Sag’s altars and religious items. Followers of Jhebbel Sag are all about controlling and hunting beasts. Special bloodletter knives allows them to extract blood from their victims and sacrifice it to their bloodthirsty master.

They are also able to craft special lures that attract animals and other beasts to wherever they’re thrown, making them deadly and implacable foes out in the wild. The magical Mark of Jhebbal Sag will offer any creature caught within it up as tribute to the Lord of Beasts. In return he may send one of his champions to see if you are still worthy.

Reaching the highest level of worship with Jhebbal Sag will grant you access to the deadly Claws of Jhebbal Sag. This devastating weapon allows you to truly tap into your inner beast and unleash furious swipes with razor sharp claws, much like like Jhebbal Sag’s champion.

Thrall Hunger

As part of this update we’re rolling out thrall hunger, which requires you to feed your thralls in order to keep them alive. The objective of this is to add nuance and flavor, not grinding, and we’ve gotten a lot of valuable feedback from our Testlive audience when tweaking the numbers. We feel we’ve arrived at a reasonable balance for this mechanic, but we always welcome more feedback.

  • You only need to feed thralls that have been placed out in the world (fighters and archers). Thralls at your workstations and altars have no inventory and won’t require feeding
  • The amount of time a companion can go on without eating, from fully fed to hungry, will be 7 days
  • Companions will be able to eat pretty much anything that’s even remotely edible
  • If you match thrall’s preferred diet, they will gain a bonus buff. This way, if you do care about the specifics of each companion type, you can get a temporary short-term advantage. You can still feed them whatever you want to prevent them from decaying. This also means you can buff your companions right before battle. A server setting (disabled by default) will allow you to make diet matching mandatory if that’s what you prefer
  • Food dispensers (Thrall Pot for thralls and Feedbox for pets) will push smaller amounts of food to each companion before moving onto the next companion. The net result of this is that all your companions will be more equally fed and you’ll need smaller amounts of food to reach them all
  • The Thrall Pot is unlocked when you make a Wheel of Pain. You craft it at the Carpenter’s Bench.
  • Food will decay very slowly when placed in food dispensers
  • There will be server options to enable/disable the feeding system separately for thralls and pets. There will also be server config parameters to adjust other aspects of the system, including if your companions should die when they are hungry or only be reduced in health. This means your server can adjust the system to a level of commitment/consequence that you want, including disabling it entirely

Known issues

  • We have been getting reports that some players with mods installed are experiencing crashes when placing thralls. Disabling nameplates will fix this.
  • Even if you disable thrall hunger, the hunger timer will still tick down. Your thralls won’t die once the timer runs out, but we know it can cause confusion
  • Character hitbox can sometimes bug out when you log out on top of a foundation. A server restart will take care of this

Server settings

Private server admins should be aware of the following:

  • StarvationDamagePenaltyCap=n where n is the percentage of maximum damage that a thrall can take if going hungry for 7 ingame days
  • StarvationDamagePenaltyCap=0.0000 would mean taking max 0% damage over time
  • StarvationDamagePenaltyCap=1.0000 would mean taking max 100% damage over time and potentially killing the thralls

  • Optimized database cleaning to remove inactive clans
  • Better randomization for Purge spawn options
  • Distracted Purgers will no longer get sidetracked by random Points of Interest.
  • Set initial purge countdown to 15 minutes

NEW CONTENT

ANIMATION UPDATES

  • Added new combat animations
    – The Sword/Axe/Mace and Shield heavy chain will now incorporate shield bashes
    – Throwing axes are now a part of your heavy chain combos when wielded with Swords, Axes and Maces
  • Added new attack to the Spider Tarantula Boss
  • Added new attack to the Crocodile Boss
  • New knockback setup and animations for monsters
  • New Rocknose animations
  • Added new idle and threat animations
  • Updated surface swimming to work with a glowstick

GAMEPLAY CHANGES

  • We have added the ability to use bait to force a specific result in fish traps. For example, if you want Unappetizing Fish, you can force that outcome with insects. Grubs will catch Exotic Fish. No bait means you get a random fish, which is the way they work in the Live servers.
  • Preservation box’s inventory space is increased. Food will not decay in them if there’s ice in the box
  • Beehives behave differently: They still collect honey over time, but Worker Bees and Queen Bees will produce a lot more honey than an empty beehive

UI CHANGES

  • Moved Sunder debuff to the right side of the nameplate, where it belongs
  • Darkened the opacity on the background panel for container inventories
  • Added button to the server list where players can report downed servers
  • Added coordinate grid to the in game Map
  • In-game Map can now be zoomed out further
  • The menu can now be accessed during Character Creation
  • Implemented a confirmation prompt upon exiting game from Dedicated server
  • The map navigation is no longer inverted when inverting the Y axis on a controller
  • The “Cycle Filter” button no longer becomes unresponsive when cycling through all filters
  • Solved an issue with password protected servers not being displayed properly
  • Fixed an issue where resetting Video settings to default wouldn’t apply changes to Windowed mode and resolution
  • Fixed an issue where the in game map would be cut off in 4:3 and 16:10 aspect ratio

BALANCING

High Priority Fixes [13.08.2018]

Summary

We’ll be patching Live now to address some high priority bugs and issues that were deployed to TestLive last week.

Again, a special shoutout to those in the community who helped us hunt down some of the tougher bugs and thanks to everyone else for the continued reports, feedback and for being part of our Exiles community! :slight_smile:

As we mentioned in the Hotfix thread on the 7th of July, the decay timers are being decreased back to their original value again today on all platforms.

Here we go:

NPC/THRALL FIXES

  • Fixed some issues where Thralls health would reset after restarting the game
  • Fixed an issue where NPCs wouldn’t properly aggro the player
  • Fixed an issue with Rotbranch’s attacks not dealing any damage
  • Fixed an issue where under certain circumstances it wasn’t possible to equip a weapon on a Thrall
  • Fixed some issues where Thralls would stay in the air when the building they were standing on was removed

GENERAL BUG FIXES

  • Fixed an issue where older Fish Traps, Shellfish Traps, Wells and Beehives to properly fill up again
  • Fixed thermal protection and stats on Aquilonian DLC Armor
  • Fixed some server crashes

Hotfix (02.08.2018) - Quick fixes and The Jewel of the West Pack

Hey everyone!

We’ve rolled out a new update for the PC version of Conan Exiles. This patch contains some quick fixes and the new DLC: The Jewel of the West Pack.

Changelog:

  • The Jewel of the West Pack is now available for purchase
  • Fixed a bug where tents would make players and NPCs immortal
  • Fixed an issue where the Potion of Endowment buff effect wouldn’t get removed after timing out, leading to potentially world-destroying amounts of dong
  • Fixed an issue where meteor shells were automatically destroyed after landing, making it difficult to harvest Star Metal

It includes the following items:

  • 39 new Aquilonian building pieces.
    • A full set of building pieces with the same stats as existing tier three.
  • 15 new armor pieces in three sets, such as the Black Dragon armor.
    • Light, medium and heavy sets with an epic end-game version of each.
  • 9 new weapons in one Aquilonian weapon set.
    • Same power as iron weapons with an epic end-game version of each weapon.
  • 5 new Aquilonian warpaints.
    • Decorative warpaints symbolizing for example rule and bravery.
  • 25 new placeables, such as the harp and councilor chair.
    • Craft them at the new Aquilonian Artisan table.

All the new content from Aquilonia is exclusive to this DLC and adds a host of new visual options but does not give any in-game advantage in power. All the new items have comparable stats to existing items.


Hotfix (10/07/2018)

Good day everyone! A new hotfix has been released and coming to a PC near you. Thank you so much for the continued feedback and details in your reports and suggestions!

Max Decay Time on Official Servers

As we mentioned in the previous Hotfix thread on the 7th, we have increased the max decay time from 6 days to 18 days for all official servers on all platforms. This will be in effect from now until Monday, August 13th. As mentioned previously, we’ll be monitoring this change and the impact it has on the servers.

Patch Notes

  • Khitan bow can now be repaired
  • Fixed a case where the weather would not change or show when hosting the game/server.
  • Clan recruits can now properly access other clan’s vaults if they are unlocked.
  • Your character’s avatar in your inventory should appear correctly again.
  • You can take dropped loot by other players on PvE servers again.
  • Damage dealt from explosive jars should now be more consistent.

Thank you for your patience and feedback.

We know you’ve been waiting and waiting is no fun so let’s get right down to business:
Here are the bugfixes for today’s Hotfix

Decay

We have received feedback from EU and US players that it will be tricky to maintain your bases on official servers during the common vacation period in July and early August due to the decay time being 6 days. We are therefore temporarily increasing this to 18 days for EU and US Officials starting this coming week. So assuming your building is large enough it will take up to 18 days to decay [the repair hammer is your best friend and allows you to check this easily!]. We will keep an eye on things and record any significant impact on server performance. Depending on this, we may have to reduce the limit again but we will in that case make sure to announce it first. Otherwise this change will stay in effect until Monday 13th August.

Private server admins who run with the decay system activate can also easily do this by changing the following value in serversettings.ini:

from MaxDecayTimeToAutoDemolish=604800.000000 (this is 6 days counted in seconds)
to MaxDecayTimeToAutoDemolish=1814400.000000 (this is 18 days counted in seconds)

We also have a poll going on for additional server areas to get a feeling for demand.

AI/THRALLS

  • The Pirate Captain will once again make an appearance in his quarters.
  • Fixed the down pour of T4 named thralls at the Black Galleon and other places. Back to business as normal!
  • Thralls can now be properly placed inside Avatar Domes
  • Thrall ownership was not always saved correctly when joining or leaving a guild which could cause thralls to attack the player.
  • Fixed a case where thralls would fall through foundations.

GENERAL BUGFIXES

  • Players who logged out on top of building pieces should no longer log in inside them
  • Item Decay Timer is back to normal. No need to buy those fridges after all. This should also fix the issue with Yellow Lotus potions vanishing into thin air.
  • Some conflicting access rules with containers and quick loot have been resolved.
  • Map Markers will once again persist through logouts.
  • Your hard earned journey steps are once more tracked and displayed properly
  • Small wells can be placed again.
  • Blood stains will be properly removed over time.
  • Ymir set can now be repaired
  • Right and Left-sloping walls can now be placed under ceilings
  • Fixed a Bug with Avatars not doing proper damage to structures. We are still looking into an additional balance pass especially involving Set.
  • Level up Audio should now be better synced with on screen notification
  • Fixed a bug which could allow you to extend the number of storage slots in containers
  • Fix for modders not being able to use the UI Modules table or the ActivateGuiModule command anymore.
  • Fixed a small bug where objects appeared to be floating on trees with snow.
  • Fixed a problem preventing modders from cooking mods that had a mod RconCommand in it.

QoL FIXES

  • Moved “Encumbered” notification to a more convenient location on the screen.

KNOWN ISSUE

Placeables that emit heat emit heat even when turned off. This should not pose a huge problem unless you have built anti-cold buildings in the desert with a lot of torches and furnaces, but it is an issue nonetheless.

A good way around this is to not use more torches than is required, or use torches that actively combat heat (Witchfire) or torches that don’t emit heat at all (Radium), build using the correct heat/cold resistant materials, not create huge farms of furnaces to smelt (note that the bricks cook much faster after the patch) and wear appropriate clothing for the biome you are in.

HIGHLIGHTS

Clan Hierarchy Options
We’ve added more control for clans in the form of hierarchy options:

  • As a first step, we added a new “recruit” clan level, which is the default level after joining a clan.
  • Vaults will after the patch only be accessible by clan “members”, “officers” and “guild leaders”.
  • Recruits have to be promoted manually to a higher level in order to access vaults.

Threat Animations
Added threat animations for several animals to improve immersion. These will activate when you get close to the monster. This is still being worked on though, and will be updated in a hotfix soon.

Detrimental Status Effect Icons above Health Bars
Added Detrimental Status effect icons above enemy target health-bars which indicates the current status effects applied by your weapon finishers like Cripple, Sunder, Bleed

General Highlights

  • Light Armor Journey bug is fixed! No, really, it is. Can we get a \o/
  • The Clan Menu has been redesigned.
  • Fixed a case where corpses weren’t appearing upon launching the game.
  • Fixed an issue where your dead body would sometimes be invisible, even when standing right on the death marker.
  • Dying while offline will no longer respawn you in the desert with wrong hunger/thirst values.
  • The background image on the main menu has been changed to motion graphics.
  • Durability bars are now color coded depending on the item type.

  • Fixed a crash issue with the Purge.
  • Messages have been altered to be more comprehensive about building restrictions during the Purge.

  • Some of the purge areas have been tweaked.
  • Nordheimers now spawn more reliably during a purge.

Balance Fixes

  • All Star Metal weapons should now equal Khitai weapons in durability, armor penetration and damage.
  • Fixed repair-cost issue with Khitan armors
  • Fixed a balance issue for DLC building pieces
  • Insulated Wood recipe now consists of 2 Resin, 1 Oil instead of just 1 Resin to bring the cost of Tier3 Black Ice buildings more on par with Tier3 stone buildings.
  • Obsidian weapon crafting has been revamped. Obsidian now requires Composite Obsidian to be crafted. This resource can only be crafted in the Volcanic Forge, and the recipe can be (re)learned from the end of the Volcano dungeon. Obsidian weapons can be crafted in any blacksmith bench as long as you have Composite Obsidian.
  • The climbing bonus from armor flexibility has been rebalanced.
  • Planter structures previously only took 2 HP per damage from trebuchets.
  • The “Thatched Awning” building piece’s stability now correctly decreases.
  • 2 Handed Epic Spears now all require he spear handle as part of the recipe.
  • Weathered Skull previously had 0 HP.
  • Updated the 1st Hyrkanian bow feat and modified text.
  • Fixed incorrectly set up damage multipliers on the Kinscourge that caused him to deal less damage than intended.
  • Fixed light attacks with Warspear of the Black Circle, which used more stamina than Heavy attacks.
  • Hot temperature debuffs adjusted slightly - removed max health penalty from them.
  • Silent Legion armor now requires epic (perfected) paddings.
  • Fixed an issue where hatch doors had the same HP as walls instead of doors.
  • Damage increase from Accuracy perk 10 now correctly increases damage by 10%.
  • Changed Yellow Lotus Potion expiration time which is now consistent with other potions.
  • Chests are harder to break. They broke too easily before if accidentally hit during a fight.
  • The chest behind the snake boss in The Unnamed City now gives legendary loot.
  • Armor penetration kit bonus was lowered from 15% bonus armor penetration to 5%.

  • Changed some ingredients required to craft certain Religion Tools.

Hotfix (22.06.2018): DLC and Exploit Fixes

Dear exiles,

We are deploying a quick hotfix for the PC version of Conan Exiles at 5pm CEST. This adds some crash, freeze and bug fixes.

Changelog

The Imperial East Pack is now available for purchase. It includes the following items:

  • 3 new armor sets – Khitan Mercenary Armor (Light), Khitan Officer Armor (Medium) and Khitan Imperial Armor (Heavy). These armor sets are available from level 10, with an epic version at level 60 (requires epic tier materials to craft)
  • 9 new weapons with Khitai themed visuals. These will be available as iron tier and star metal tier visuals and will have appropriate stats for those levels (and require level appropriate materials to craft)
  • 25 new placeables in Khitan style. These include new carpets, tables, braziers, lanterns, chairs, screens, drums etc
  • 5 new decorative warpaints in Khitan style
  • A new set of Tier 3 building pieces in the Khitan style

Fixes and changes

  • Fixed a server freeze issue
  • Thralls on religious altars should no longer disappear when upgrading the altar

Hotfix (19.06.2018)

Summary

This is a quick PC Live Hotfix to address some issues/leftovers from the big Friday Patch.
ETA for this patch is around 3pm Oslo time which is around 2 hours from posting these notes.

  • Upgraded to new version of BattlEye with improved hack detection
  • For modders: Refactored placement validation for some building modules to improve compatibility between building mods. This means, for the future, it should be easier for different mods to work together without interfering which each other.
  • Fixed crafting progression being lost/reset on server restart (this includes Thrall progress resetting inside the wheel of pain).

Balancing Pass and Exploit Fixes (15.06.2018)

Summary

UPDATE: A small hotfix for dedicated servers has been released. This fixed a frequently occurring crash related to corpse map markers. Please be sure you update your game. Again, this just affects dedicates servers. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience!

Hello Exiles!

We have a pretty juicy patch for you for PC today! This patch will also go live asap for Consoles, barring issues with certification process at Sony and Microsoft.

We really want to thank you for your feedback, patience and ongoing support while we address issues and improve the game. Please keep posting bugs, feedback and issues you encounter, especially after patches, here on our forums.

We are also working with Gportal for IG server messages to get you a heads-up for servers going down for patches and maintenance. This should hopefully be available sometime next week for official servers and then shortly after also be implemented for private servers.

Also a quick note on the infamous “Light Armor Journey” Bug. The fix for this will go to testlive with the over 500 additional changes that is scheduled for next week. We know that you have been waiting for this for a while and we apologize for the delay!

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • We added several adjustments that should help with Land Harassment
  • Combat Lock on should now priorize enemies over clan members
  • It’s now possible to whitelist players by their SteamID
  • Several Exploits have been addressed
  • Fixed some issues with Thralls not attacking properly
  • Fixed some issues with Thralls falling through the floor. There are several different issues linked to this bug and we keep working on addressing all of them.
  • Fixed an issue with a corpse sometimes not being visible to the player
  • Weapon and Shield display racks should now work as intended
  • We are forcing a feat and attribute to remove any unfair advantages gained from exploits fixed in this patch

EXPLOIT FIXES

  • No longer possible to bring all attributes to 50.
    (Player attributes will be reset to the correct amount of points available for the characters level).
  • Added ability to override decay score for small buildings to help combat landclaim harassment (please see additional information at the end of this post)
  • Fixed a health regen issue which could max your health after taking damage under certain conditions
  • Fixed a bug that would remove the loading screen prematurely while the closest buildings were still loading in. Sorry thieves, you will no longer be able to loot through walls, doors and foundations that haven’t properly loaded.
  • Fixed a bug where the player would get infinite stamina while going up stairs and slopes.
  • Fixed a problem with stack merging logic which could allow for item duplication for certain equipped items. Certain duplicated items (orbs primarily) will be removed from inventories as part of this fix.

UI ADJUSTMENTS

  • Message of the Day is now saved after closing the window.
  • Removed the second Edit Text icon on the Chat Log screen.
  • Fixed the chat visibility settings not working in other languages than English.

QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS

  • Fix auto-target to downprioritize clan mates selection when enemies are present
  • Player name tags now show up further away on PC
  • Admins can now explicitly whitelist players by SteamID
  • You can now add and remove servers from your favourite list
  • PVE Conflict servers joined the ranks of properly filtered servers in the browser
  • Adjustments to corpse physics.
  • Split “Show Help When Building” settings into “Show Help When Building” and “Show Contextual Controls”. So admins can choose to have the hud tooltips for controls on building only while disabling for the rest of the game.
  • ingame feats which require a DLC will be clearly visualized
  • The Altar of Set should no longer vanish after upgrading.

AI

  • Fixed a problem with follower thrall sometimes walking backwards when following
  • Fixed a problem with thrall no longer able to attack after unequipping a weapon
  • Fixed a problem with human NPCs falling under structures if performing a melee attack near a doorway
  • Fixed an issue where thralls wouldn’t follow you after logging out with said thrall in Follow mode.
  • Exile NPCs learned to properly put away their weapons and shields when out of combat.

DECAY SYSTEM ADJUSTMENTS

  • Turning DisableBuildingAbandonment on after having it disabled for a while should not demolish buildings built in the past, and can no longer be toggled while the server is running.
  • Your buildings and placeables will now go into the Abandoned state if you recreate your character. Other players can then demolish them freely.

GENERAL OPTIMIZATION

  • General Server Performance improvements
  • Various crash fixes.
  • Various server optimizations.

NEW SERVER SETTINGS

OverrideDecayMaxBuildingPieces = X, where X is number of pieces (default 6)
OverrideDecayTime = N, default value 3600. The amount of seconds it will take this building to decay into abandoned state, and it will then stay in abandoned state for 10% of this time

  • When using a controller, fixed an issue where you were unable to place an item into the radial menu if your highlight went from the recipes to the inventory items directly.
  • Fixed an issue that would make your placeable item be consumed upon placing, without actually being placed.
  • Fixed an issue with following thralls giving a “Too many thralls following you” error after a relog.
  • When inspecting a thrall, the “Equip” button will now correctly equip items from either the players or the thralls backpack on the thrall.

ADDITIONAL DECAY SYSTEM EXPLANATION FOR ADMINS

We’ve added a couple of new server settings that allow server admins to configure the decay system so that it considers buildings of a certain size to be insignificant and should therefore decay a lot faster than regular buildings. As long as there is no placeable involved.

The server settings are:

  • OverrideDecayMaxBuildingPieces, default value 6. This means a building with 6 or less pieces will get its normal decay time overriden by the time specified in the following server setting
  • OverrideDecayTime, default value 3600. The amount of seconds it will take this building to decay into abandoned state, and it will then stay in abandoned state for 10% of this time.

What the example of the default values, any building with 6 or less pieces will go into abandoned state after 1 hour. And then completely decay and be destroyed after 10 minutes in abandoned.
(Anyone can demolish an Abandoned building by interacting with it)

It will not get this overriden decay time if there is a placeable, like a bedroll or a campfire, near the building. And it will instead work like before.
This is a quick thing we added to combat the “mine-fields” of pillars/foundations placed around the world to claim land. But we’re looking into better approaches.

This is because the branch on TestLive requires a little more testing due to the changes and fixes made. However, we did want to roll out the AFK system and crash fixes before the weekend. Server admins can use the following server settings for the AFK kicker:

[]KickAFKPercentage = 80 (integer value, between 0 and 100). The percentage controls how many players need to be logged on before the system starts to kick people. So if set to 80 then you need 32/40 players logged in before it will start to kick anybody.
If set to 0, the system should be off.

IMPORTANT:

This is a message for everyone who has had issues with their servers having really long loading times and respawns taking several minutes. This is especially an issue for servers running on machines without an SSD.

We have discovered an issue with the unconscious bodies that are loaded on a server restart. It is causing heavy load on the game database.

If you are having these issues, we suggest you turn off the unconscious bodies by adding the following to your servers ServerSettings.ini
LogoutCharactersRemainInTheWorld=False

We will be turning this off for all our official servers until a patch with a fix is ready. At which point we will remind you to turn it back on.

Launch Day Patch (08.05.2018)

Summary

Conan Exiles has finally launched! We started early access with a world map of just 15 squared kilometers. Now at full launch we’ve expanded to a full 40! This includes the vast dry desert, lush swamp to the east, the neutral city of Sepermeru and the gaseous Salt Lake to the west, and the molten volcano and frozen, snowy lands to the north. Whether you’re a returning player or a new one, you’re going to have a lot to discover in the new biomes. This includes deep and dark dungeons with treasures, forgotten ruins, monstrous creatures, and more we don’t want to spoil.

Important: Remember to remove mods if you’re unable to play/open the game!

Derketo

Now that launch day is here an entirely new religion will be made available to players. Derketo is the goddess of fertility and death, whose followers engage in sexualized and sometimes lethal rituals. Her dual nature makes her avatar a sight to behold: one half appearing as a beautiful woman, her body in the prime of life, while the other half is a rotting corpse and degenerated corpse.

Followers of Derketo will be able to craft a special knife, Derketo’s Kiss, that extracts unfulfilled desires from fallen enemies. These Slivers of the Unfulfilled can be used to turn deadly poisons into sweet honey, or when combined with insects, made into potions that will heal wounds and enhance the endurance of whoever drinks it. As their religious devotion grows, followers of Derketo can learn how to transmute vines into bread or oil into blood, before finally learning how to make the powerful Lusttaker, a sword touched by Derketo herself.

Volcano

Towering over the Frozen North lies the mighty volcano, with molten fury pouring across jet-black slopes. Those who dare challenge the crag can harness the power of Obsidian and discover a mysterious cult worshiping an unknown, ancient power. Within the volcano itself, explore the ominous light emanating from the Well of Skelos - those who brave its depths will be rewarded handsomely. Just beware the searing hot temperatures - who knows what ancient secrets lurk within! The volcano and its encounters are balanced for the most powerful of warriors to explore.

Swamp(o)

Follow the big river east and you will find the swamp. This huge new area offers deep jungles, wet marshes and a sunny coastline filled with pirates. You can build well-protected castles or even entire cities up in the massive trees of the swamp.

There are many new monsters to fight in the swamp and lots of places to explore, from the Pagoda of Boundless Lusts to Jamilia’s Liberty, a massive beached ship which the Black Hand pirates have made their home. There is also the Forgotten City of Xel-ha, the ruins of an ancient Lemurian city being devoured by the encroaching jungle and the Palace of the Witch Queen dungeon. The swamp has been made for characters between level 20 and 40.

Patch Notes

TL;DR

The Purge

Healing Rebalance

  • Reduced the effect of the Receptive perk (Vitality 40) from +100% healing to +25% healing

  • Regeneration from healing potions now breaks on taking damage
  • Bandage healing does not break on damage and removes bleeds and cripples at the end of the effect
  • Bandage healing now breaks on movement

General Balance and QoL Adjustments

  • Rebalanced the Mitra spear and Acheronian sickle
  • Slightly increased blocked rebound time for 2h spear heavy attacks
  • Slightly reduced blocker confirm time for 2h spear heavy attacks
  • Cripple effects for melee weapons have been reduced in efficiency
  • Lowered the damage of the sickles
  • Fixed issue where poison stacks could increase as it was ticking (caused by the weapon being listed as the “damage causer”, which could still be poisoned)
  • Also fixes issue where poison was affected by armor penetration of the weapon that caused it
  • Fixed a problem with target lock which would sometimes move the camera behind the player character, making it difficult to see the target
  • Max elevation at which you can place buildings is now 600 meters across the map. This fixes some building exploits in the volcano area (and should not impact players unless they are reenacting “Jack and the Beanstalk” story)

Known Issues

  • If you are experiencing a “D3D device error” when launching the game then please try to clock down your gfx card by 100 or 200 MHz, especially if you have a factory overclocked gfx card.

Hotfix (24.04.2018)

Summary

Ceiling Tiles
With the help of the Testlive community we found out that there was a problem with certain types of ceiling pieces: Whenever you upgrade from a sandstone ceiling it will get a different collision box which will cause any placeable on top to lose its connection and be considered a floating placeable.

This is now fixed so that they have a unified collision on all tiers. With this fix going live now, anything placed on top of sandstone ceiling tier 1 tiles will have been lost. If you have lowered your placeable far enough into the ceiling, it should be fine. To add, all ceilings and wedge/triangle ceilings have this unified collision as well. We apologize for any inconvenience, but this fix ensures floating placeables will no longer be an issue.

The Purge

This patch contains a sizable update to the Purge, changing around which activities grant Purge points, how fast you accumulate these points, and how dangerous the Purge is. We’ve also fixed Purge NPCs spawning beneath and inside buildings.

The purge is currently set to activate between 18:00 and 22:00 on your server’s clock.

Purge creators now do a lot more damage to buildings. As an example, a Frost Giant does 67 points of damage to a player, but will do 30x to 40x that against a building. Up against a 100k T3 structure, a single Frost Giant will need some time to destroy everything, but a 10k T1 structure will be knocked down in around 10 seconds.

The Purge now has 6 difficulty settings:

  • 1,2 are used around the southern river (can be resisted with T1 buildings)
  • 3,4 are used in the center of the map and the swamp (can be resisted with T2 buildings)
  • 5,6 are used in highlands, frozen areas and volcano (you should have T3 buildings to resist them)

There’s also a new server commands for controlling the Purge:

  • “PurgeNPCBuildingDamageMultiplier” is a Purge damage modifier per difficulty level. The default setting for this will be 5x on levels 1 and 2, 20x on levels 3 and 4, and 30x on level 5 and 6. Currently you can not override these values from ini file due to an engine limitation on arrays in ini files but we are looking into a fix.

Secondly, we’ve created a damage modifier for player weapons. This is to prevent regular weapons like swords, spears and arrows from doing too much damage against a building when wielded by players. From now on you’ll have a hard time breaking into someone’s base with a normal sword. The consequence of this is that orbs, explosive jars and trebuchets will be more important for sieging and raiding again.

  • The new server setting “PlayerBuildingDamageMultiplier” modifies in % the amount of damage a player does against a building. The default setting will be 0.01%.

Friendly Tip: Server admins should add the following to their ini files to avoid unconscious players dying from thirst or hunger after being offline for extended periods of time:

Purge iteration 2

  • Changed which activities grant purge points
  • Changed the rate at which you accumulate purge points from 60 minutes to 15 minutes

Update #33 (17.04.2018): Combat Revamp, Fast Travel, Farming and Purge

Summary

The next big update has arrived, fresh from the oven. There’s a lot to unpack and learn in this update, and we’re excited to show you what it’s all about. Besides the brutal combat revamp, you’ll experience the purge, journey across the map with fast travel, learn the ways of farming, and discover the many changes and adjustments made to better your experience in the harsh world.

Some players had an issue with the ESC key not working. A workaround for this was resetting keybindings, which we have forced with this update. If you’ve been using custom keybindings previously they will have been reset.

Combat

Yes! It’s here! Welcome to the new combat in Conan Exiles. Many of you already know what this is all about from playing on the TestLive servers, but we’re finally able to push these live. Here are some basics and things you may want/need to know:

  • Each weapon type has their own specific attacks and properties.
  • You will have light and heavy attacks. Heavy attacks, for example, use more stamina than light and are slower, but deal more damage.
  • Chain attacks of 4 can be made using any variation of heavy and light attacks but watch your stamina!
  • Dodging can be done in any direction now as well as be done in the middle of your attack to cancel it. This will still take stamina to do.
  • Once your stamina completely drains, you won’t be able to attack or dodge until full again.
  • Certain weapons, like the dual daggers, allow you flip backwards when pushing the block button (CTRL button by default). Throwing weapons, like the javelin, will let you hurl it towards them.
  • Kicks have also been implemented and work when you’re equipped with a two-handed weapon or one-handed weapon with no shield. Use these to your advantage, as they can interrupt enemies! This is done with the default CTRL button as well.
  • You can sprint with weapons/shields/tools again! Depending on your weapon, they will have different sprint animations.
  • Enemies have their health displayed to allow you to adapt and think about your attacks.
  • Target lock has been added! It can be toggled using the Q keybinding by default. When using this, you will face your opponent and can be switched between different enemies. This works at 20 meters max range. We have also added server settings to turn off target lock on the server so server admins can decide the type of experience they want to offer.
  • Weapons can deal status effects that can stack up to five times. A yellow trail, for example, will inflict a cripple debuff. We have also added a GUI option to turn off weapon trails completely.

The Purge

If you thought you were prepared before, you better check again! You’ll notice in your inventory under your character a purge meter. The more you and/or your clan builds, kill other players/NPCs, and plays the more this meter will fill. You won’t automatically get a purge when you go over the threshold, but as long as your purge activity score is above it, you have a chance for it to happen. For example, if you are on a dedicated server or local game, and you are the only one playing, the purge will only pick you. But on a server with, for example, 10 clans, 4 of which are above the threshold, you have a 25% chance to get it if you are among the 4. During the purge monsters, animals, humans, and others depending on the area, will appear and attack your home. Make sure your walls are well protected from the waves of enemies. On official servers purges will only trigger during “Purge Time” which is a subset of prime time, “Purge Time” is between 6 PM and 10 PM local time, all days. Admins of private servers will be able to adjust this time either through server setting GUI or modifying the serversettings.ini files.

In general purges become more difficult the further north your base is on the map. Higher difficulty purges will contain special bosses with unique loot, or special crafter NPCs that have unique recipes on them. You will need a combination of smart base design, thrall defenders, higher tier buildings and good teamplay to withstand the most difficult purges.

With this update we are launching purge version 1. This version is missing a balancing pass and also a couple of key features. With iteration 2 we will make the purges more difficult, and we may also add new purge types with other combinations of NPCs. We’re doing this in order to get as much feedback and testing on the Purge as possible.

If you find the purge to be too easy or difficult, you can change the difficulty as well as many other parameters in the options-menu. Later on private server admins will be able to modify the purges and customize them to be easier or harder as well as add new purge types.

Farming

By obtaining seeds from plants and making compost through the compost heap, it is now possible to plant and harvest your own crops. In order to craft fertilizer in the compost heap, you will need plant-fiber, rotten meat and bonemeal, which can be obtained by grinding (amongst other things) bone, claws, fangs or ivory in the grinder. For certain plants, you may need potent fertilizer, for which you will need to add ash and blood to the mix. By planting seeds and fertilizer in the planters, your crops will grow over time. In addition to this, should you want to decorate your land, a selection of potted plants have been added to the game, which are much less costly than the planters.

Updated HUD

The first thing you may notice when first logging in is the display. Health and stamina are now shown as bars as they’re essential to manage especially in combat. Stamina will replenish over time when not attacking or dodging, but you’ll see that health does not! This is where your kicks and dodges will come in handy to avoid incoming attacks. There are multiple ways to gain back health which include eating cooked food, using bandages, using potions, or unlocking certain perks.

You will see the newly added perks in your attribute window. Spending enough points in certain attributes will unlock advantages that will benefit you in the brutal lands; for example, the first perk unlocked in the Vitality doubles your breath timer when underwater.

Your feats window is also newly updated! Objects are now sorted and organized for easier navigation.

A new tab called “Stats” has been added. Here, you can get down to the numbers and see how effective you are against the environment both offensively and defensively. It will also display any buffs/debuffs your character has.

The Journey GUI has been extended from 4 to 10 chapters and can be disabled from showing on your screen through settings. This goes as well for gameplay hints, that shows various keys or gamepad inputs for climbing, fighting, building, etc.

Fast Travel

You’ll notice a nifty new placeable called the Maproom. Place this in a safe spot within your base and you can travel around the map! You will first have to discover the monoliths scattered across the lands and attune your bracelet to them before you can travel there. Don’t stay too long by one though, or you’ll gain corruption and end your journey there. It’s important to note that this is a one way ticket. You can travel from the maproom to an obelisk, but not the other way around.

Build Abandonment System Update

We’ve done several big changes to how the building abandonment system works. Firstly, anything placed on or near a building will become a part of said building’s decay score and decay at the same rate. This means you can now build smaller buildings in close proximity as well as standalone placeables like wheel of pain, altar etc and these will all be treated as big structure for purposes of decay. Secondly, the system will now check for and remove floating placeables left behind in the world after the buildings they were standing on got removed. Thirdly placeables stacked on top of placeables are now checked and correctly removed. Lasty, the updated decay system fixes a problem with players joining a clan and sometimes not being able to continue building on their existing buildings.

Additionally on all official servers we are changing the decay settings such that max decay value is 6 days after which the structure will be abandoned (any player can interact with and remove the structure), and after 1 day of being abandoned, the structure gets removed automatically by the system.

Patch Notes

We want to highlight that we’ve completely redone population of the world as well as added world bosses that grant access to legendary weapons. These world bosses drop keys that be used on chests you find and can open at level 60. The chests aren’t always near where a key is found, so keep an eye out! These chests will provide some legendary items with custom effects on them.

TL;DR

  • Quick Loot allows you hover your pointer over a body, a loot bag or a machine and quickly loot individual or all items.
  • The keybinding for opening the admin panel is now SHIFT + INSERT.
  • You no longer sheath your weapon when sprinting. You can run with weapons again!
  • Buildings and placeables now take damage from any tier of weapon.
  • Warpaints are now available!
  • You now automatically bind to beds and bedrolls when placing them.
  • You can now adjust the tethering range in cooperative play to let players move further away from the host. Depending on settings you may need more memory or a more powerful CPU
  • Arrows should no longer get stuck in your hand!
  • The game will now default you to 3rd person when first logging in.
  • Epic armorsmithing stations for epic armors have been implemented.
  • A number of new weapons and armors and placeables have been added to the game
  • Merchants can be found in the neutral city of Sepermeru, where you can now buy a selection of consumables (booze and food) and some hides
  • New (rare) resources - Gold / Gold Coins / Silver / Silver Coins
  • Respawning at a bed or bedroll will cut your health down to 50%. This is intended, not a bug. Respawning at the desert will give you 100% health. This is to prevent players from just letting themselves die rather than healing up.

Avatars

  • Changed movement speed of avatars. All move the same speed except for Set.
  • We’ve made other changes to avatars so they no longer instantly kill everything. They will no longer have their movements blocked by buildings and resources/foliage.
  • Yog’s attack has been reimplemented. It will do damage over time and will be blocked by avatar domes.
  • Ymir’s axe slam now respects damage settings and increased additional interaction radius, so that foliage far away can take damage on the axe slam attack.
  • Avatar of Set’s strafing is smoother and feels better.

Quality of Life and Gameplay Adjustments

  • The Silent Legion armor no longer requires the heart from the Kinscourge to be crafted (although the weapons still do).
  • A number of new weapons and armors and placeables have been added to the game.
  • Creature heads can now be used in the tannery and the grinder to obtain resources from them
  • New (rare) resources - Gold / Gold Coins / Silver / Silver Coins
  • Hunting prey animals is now more rewarding - all the good meats come from prey animals. In addition, hitting a prey animal in the HEAD will do much more damage now, encouraging actual hunting
  • You no longer sheath your weapon when sprinting. You can run with weapons again!
  • New Tool: Skinning Knife. Use this to gather hide from animals.
  • Clan GUI has been improved. It’s easier to leave a clan using a controller now.
  • Realigned some UI elements that were not centered.
  • You now need to be well protected against certain fumes like gas. Make sure to equip something like a sandstorm mask before entering dangerous areas!
  • Hyper armor has been implemented which allows both players and NPCs to complete their attacks if they take damage
  • The game will now default you to 3rd person when first logging in.
  • While in combat, you are forced into 3rd person. You can disable this in settings though.

  • Respawning at a bed or bedroll will cut your health down to 50%. This is intended, not a bug. Respawning at the desert will give you 100% health.

Optimizations and balancing

  • Water wells now require a minimum distance between them.
  • Reduced fall damage.
  • Adjusted AI so NPCs won’t pick other random targets while attacking.
  • Reduced the amount of XP received from civilized difficulty.
  • Weapons and tools have been rebalanced.
  • Fixed sliding and shaking NPCs.
  • Cleansing brews no longer raise stamina and health beyond natural maximum.
  • The repair cost for the Pickaxe should no longer defy the laws of conversation of energy and require more materials to repair than to build.
  • Slowed down archers backing away when shooting/reloading.

Server settings & Admin panel

  • Server settings panel has been redesigned and now has vertical tabs (including one for the Purge!)
  • You can now adjust the tethering range in cooperative play to let players move further away from the host. Depending on settings you may need more memory or a more powerful CPU
  • A new server setting has been added that allows admins to choose how long before a player can regenerate stamina again.
  • Updated the graphics in the admin panel.
  • Moved the admin panel keybind from CTRL+SHIFT+C to SHIFT+INSERT.

Known Issues

  • Some two-handed weapons on dedicated servers might not do the correct damage. We’re investigating further.
  • Religious items won’t harvest corpses.
  • Doors, gates and other placeables might get randomly removed
  • PvE servers are working correctly as PvE servers, but won’t show up when you use the PvE filter.

PC Hotfix (17.01.2018)

Summary

Patch Notes

  • NPC bodies will despawn faster.
  • Fixed an issue where using the torch would make the area around you too bright to other players.
  • Fall damage has been reduced.
  • Removed winter loading screen and changed it back to the default
  • Temperature system improvement: Fixed a bug where character temperature changes would be permanently modified when weather changes occur in game. This could lead to heatstroke in cold areas or frostbite in warm areas when trying to counteract the temperature system
  • Fixed a bug where changing the filter on a loot bag/container, and removing items would freeze the game at the last item.

Hotfix (20.12.2018)

Summary

We’ve patched a hotfix to take care of some lingering issues that remained after Update 32 last week. This will be the last patch we release before Christmas.

Please restart your Steam client to make sure you have the latest version of the game.

Patch notes

  • Fixed a bug where players could create floating buildings by stacking Wall Palisades and dismantling the bottom piece
  • Sitting in a chair should no longer remove the UI. Happy chatting, roleplayers!
  • It should no longer be possible to place hatch doors in mid air
  • Upgraded items should no longer disappear when you try to apply a second upgrade kit
  • Item upgrades should no longer disappear after logging out
  • Fixed a visual bug where weapons on weapon racks would disappear
  • Dropping a repair kit onto a weapon in your hotbar should now repair the item
  • Tools repaired with a kit should now be able to harvest resources again
  • Our blacksmiths have reforged all swords so swinging them should now sound like normal

Known issues

  • When interacting with a loot bag, and changing the item filter in said loot bag, the game will freeze when removing the final item if you’re removing items one at a time. This also happens when using “Take All”. We’re working on a hotfix for this.

New Content!

Weapon, tool, and armor modifications

Introducing the modification system! You can now improve your weapons, tools, and armor with a host of modifications using kits. They can be used to improve certain aspects such as increasing damage on a sword, or improve harvesting on a tool!

Weather System

Only available in the north so far. The system allows for more dynamic changes in rain, snow, wind, and fog! Rain now puddles on the ground, but beware: if the weather grows severe enough, a thunderstorm might come.

New Armor Sets

This includes Aquilonian (medium) and Zamorian (cloth). Both include very good stats for their tier and will give attribute boosts once the new perk system is implemented.

Improved Thrall Capture Tools

This patch adds iron and steel truncheons for knocking out thralls, and higher tier bindings (rawhide, leather, and chain) for dragging thralls for longer distances.

New Weapons

New weapons include Acheronian weapons, two new axes, a new studded mace, and a corseque (pole weapon).

New Building Pieces

Ladders can now be built! Other pieces include inverted sloping walls, hatch frames, and hatches.

New Tools

Sickles have been added for harvesting fiber, and cleavers for harvesting meat.

New Placeables

New items include weapons racks, folded screens, papyrus scrolls, and more!

Thralls

  • Thralls will remain in combat and can keep attacking after teleporting to the player while in combat
  • It’s no longer possible to equip a thrall with a two-handed weapon with an offhand item
  • The Thrall character sheet will now update correctly when items are placed in equipment slots
  • Placeable thralls that are converted no longer come out with a different skin color than they originally began with
  • Taking armor off thralls will no longer result in a glitch where they retain armor stats after a server restart.

  • Weapon and shield racks have a visual bug where something attached to them might disappear. The item is still there, it’s just not being rendered in.
  • Shields on shield racks may disappear, leaving the player unable to interact with the shield rack. You can still dismantle the shield rack and get your shield back

Hotfix (23.11.2017)

Summary

We’ve put out a hotfix for some of the issues that popped up after the most recent patch. Remember to restart your clients to make sure you have the latest version of the game.

  • Crystals can once again be harvested inside caves
  • Crystals drop from rocknoses again
  • Foundations will no longer disappear after relogging.
  • Fence foundations will now snap to triangle foundations.

Known issues

  • Thralls placed in the world will end up being naked after patching
  • Thralls that are in storage or player inventory when game is patched will visually have their original armor after being placed in the world, but will have no armor equipped. This is just a visual bug. Adding armor pieces to thrall will clear the bug for the slot being equipped. Restarting singleplayer game or dedicated server after thralls are placed will also remove visual glitch (which will make placed thralls naked)
  • An animation glitch might occurr if you move weapons from thrall to thrall.
  • Restarting the multiplayer server/local game should clear this
  • Taking a weapon from a thrall placed in the world prior to patching may result in a visual glitch similar to “Arrow in my wrist”, where a visual representation of their weapon will remain in their hands despite no weapon being equipped. The issue is cleared after restarting your server or local game
  • Harvesting crystals in single-player is broken

  • Light from light-sources has been slightly reduced. This should alleviate some of the FPS drops players were having in their bases.

Known issues:

  • Some players using older machines will get an error message about running out of memory. This is being investigated and will be fixed

Update 30 (20.09.2017)- Temperature system update and quality of life improvements

Summary

Hey! It’s time to update. We’ve released a new patch for the PC version. Make sure you restart Steam to get the latest version of the game.

This patch contains three weeks of changes and gameplay updates, chief among them a quick revamp of the temperature system.

TL;DR

  • Added option for locking containers (Containers owned by clan are lockable/unlockable for all members of that clan)
  • A map marker will now point to where you died
  • PvP death notifications should now appear when a player logs back in after being killed offline
  • Arrows can now be picked up by players unless they break on impact (If you’ve used an arrow to kill something you won’t be able to pick it back up)
  • When multiple players help kill a monster the XP is now distributed among everyone that contributed damage.
  • Thrall specialty recipes should now be in the recipe slots, not the Thrall slot
  • Fur can now be made into leather in a tannery
  • The screen edge effect for temperature (de)buffs have been modified to be less intrusive
  • Doors and gates will now close automatically after about 30 seconds
  • The Cry-for-Help radius of humanoid NPCs have been reduced significantly. This will make it a bit easier to break camps and not have to face hordes of enemies all the time (although it will still happen if the player is not careful).
  • Crafting times have been tweaked for most recipes in the game to about half. This change will be most notable for weapons and ammunition such as bolts and arrows. Some food items are also significantly affected
  • Dragonpowder and Explosive Jars no longer have decay timers
  • Added pop-up hint to Star Metal meteors when players try to harvest the outer shell with tools. Star Metal core can now be harvested with all tools, but black ice tools give the most resources

Temperature system changes

  • The temperature system will now change more slowly - meaning that moving from one area to another will still apply the same temperatures but it takes longer to reach the target temperature
  • Changed temperature system popups. Temperature system now progresses (from coldest to hottest); “Frostbite, Extremely Cold, Very Cold, Cold, Normal, Hot, Very Hot, Extremely Hot, Overheating”
  • Drinking from the waterskin and the water-filled flasks will now give a cooling effect.
  • Swimming reduces temperature by a small amount.
  • It should now be possible to eat ice and get a cold buff
  • Fixed damage on “Very Hot” buff, “Very Cold” buff and “Extremely Hot” and “Extremely Cold” buffs. The damage has been removed from the “Very” versions and slightly lowered for the “Extremely” versions
  • The screen edge effect for temperature (de)buffs have been modified to be less intrusive
  • Frost bite damage has been increased

    • Normal: +5
    • Exceptional: +8
    • Flawless: +13
  • Reptile armor now decreases temperature by a total of -15

General Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • Added option for locking containers (Containers owned by clan are lockable/unlockable for all members of that clan)
  • Removed the mighty invisible wall around an NPC camp tent so it would stop blocking arrows
  • Fixed an issue where doors in The Dregs dungeon wouldn’t open
  • Fixed an issue where the client would crash if an item disappeared from your hotbar and another item was placed on top of it

Balance and Gameplay Fixes

  • You can only repair an item if you have the recipe for it.

  • Directional movement now rotates entire character instead of blending different rotated animations when using gamepad and playing in third person
  • Undead creatures should now do damage properly
  • Fixed some wrong spawn entries which spammed the logs

Hotfix (30.08.2017)

Summary

We have released a new patch, which introduces the first new changes to the sprinting and wielding system. There are also fixes for several big issues players have reported to us recently (like keyboard bindings).

Here are the full patch notes for this update:

Sprinting and wielding improvements:
Starting to sprint will automatically sheathe your weapons. We refactored this system to make it depend on the character state instead of the sprint keyboard/gamepad input. The benefits are subtle but this change allowed us to improve the handling of sprint when combined with other states like jumping and climbing.

Your weapons will autowield when you stop sprinting. You can override this behavior by sheathing your weapons manually with the wield/sheathe buttong (defaults to X on keyboards and Y on gamepads).

If you are in the air when you stop sprinting, you will autowield when you land.
You can continue sprinting after a jump by simply keeping down the sprint button. This works after landing from climbing and sliding as well. If you hold sprint down, you won’t try to autowield when you land.

Attacking while sprinting autowields now.

Pressing the wield/sheathe button while sprinting stops sprinting (and wields).
Increased the leniency of the turning clamps during sprinting. The player character will only get kicked out of sprint when attempting very drastic turns. Also, it is now possible to run diagonally (i.e. hold sprint, W and A) while sprinting without breaking out of sprint.

Characters now properly get out of the sprinting state if they run out of stamina or stop moving completely.

PS: It is still our intention to add an option where players can disable the automatic wield/sheathe behavior entirely. With that option, your character won’t be able to sprint unless you’ve unwield your weapons by using the wield/sheathe button.

PPS: It is also still our intention to treat certain tools differently than weapons so they don’t get put away when you sprint.

PPPS: We are looking into ways to show which weapons you have sheathed.

Character handling improvements:

Holding down the attack or block buttons during wield/dodge/knockback and other special character states will now attempt to execute the action when the special state ends. This change improves the smoothness and responsiveness of combat, specially when switching weapons, getting hit, blocking and dodging.

Some examples of what this change does:

  • You can now hold block during a dodge and the character will actually go straight into block when the dodge is over. You can do the same with an attack.
  • You can hold down block to keep blocking after you recover from a knockback/hit confirm.
  • No more having to press the block button again after getting hit.
  • This change applies to the wield action as well; you can press and hold attack while sprinting to execute an attack when the wield animation is over.
  • If you were harvesting with, say, a hatchet, you can press and hold attack while sprinting to autowield your hatchet and swing as soon as the wield animation is finished.

Dodge is now allowed during wield animations.
Equipping two items at the same time (which can happen during autowield and when you press the wield/sheathe button) will prioritize the animation of the weapon in the main hand instead of the offhand (i.e. your sword instead of your shield). This will improve the visual feedback in situations where it felt like your weapon wasn’t working during the wield action because you couldn’t see it playing a wield anim (your shield was playing it instead of your sword).

Other fixes:

  • Glass Flasks can now be filled at all water sources
  • Fixed a problem where you cannot rebind mouse buttons in the Keybinding section
  • Text input for message of the day is now easier to use both on PC and Xbox
  • Removed log spam for creatures failing to spawn
  • Fixed a client crash related to blueprint dependencies
  • Explosive jars are now gone from all loot tables, both chests and NPCs
  • Black Ice Crenelated walls now correctly deal damage to climbing players
  • Clan owner can now promote another member to Leader
  • Fixed a problem with loss of recipes/recipes going invisible. “Lost” recipes are returned to recipes window.
  • Exploding Imps now drop Explosive Glands again
  • Explosive Jars now perish after 24 hours. This is a temporary change (see below)
  • Dragonpowder now perishes after 30 minutes
  • You will now only get Tar when dismantling Explosive Jars
  • Added missing crafting station images
  • The Crude Wooden Bowl can now be interacted with properly.
  • We now show Attributes description when one of the buttons is selected with a controller.
  • Highland wine can now be crafted correctly
  • Fixed an instance where you would incorrectly equip previously equipped weapons.
  • Fixed inventory latency/freeze
  • Switching weapons in midair should now work again

Known issues:

  • The beehive, the fish trap, and the shellfish trap still use the old camp sidebar GUI.
  • Some types of undead deal incorrect damage. This will be fixed soon
  • Explosive jars have dropped frequently from chests and NPCs which have made them abundant. The 24h perish timer on explosive jars will get rid of excessive inventories. In the next patch the 24h perish timer will be reverted
  • We are adding support for locking chests an upcoming patch. Machines and crafting stations will stay unlocked
  • Selecting dye with the mouse doesn’t appear to work. Using hotkeys (G then Enter) after selecting a piece of clothing will make the dye menu appear
  • Crafting Glass Flasks makes the crafting machine stop after each completed flask, requiring you to turn it back on. A workaround is putting two moulds in the machine

Update 29 (16.08.2017): The Frozen North is now available!

Summary

Shake the sand from your boots and grab your fur coat: you can now travel north! With this update, we are introducing an entire new region for you to discover and enjoy, making the game bigger and better than before.

This frosty biome comes with new types of weather such as rain and snow if you want to escape the scorching sun and sandstorms. Beware, however, that with our newly implemented temperature system, you will need to be prepared for both! Be sure you have ample heavy clothing to warm yourself in the mountains, and light clothing in the desert. We have over 20 new dye colors as well, so you can travel in stlye or sport your clan’s colors.

Along with armor, you will also need to be well armed. Be on the lookout for new types of weapons and weapon materials like star metal. A new region means new monsters and wildlife including wolves, bears, frost giants, mammoths, and many more!

Further protect yourself from the elements and dangers by building your shelter with new resources such as black ice. Take note that the type of matieral you use is important for which environment you’re building in! Building has been made easier by learning building pieces in tiers, rather than individually. After completing your structure, you can select new furniture and items to decorate your home with such as ice boxes, stoves, and other machines to help you survive. Outdoors, you can place beehives and fishing traps to gain honey and oil.

If you’re in need of more supplies or looking for more action, you can enter the newest dungeons like the Abandoned Keep; make sure you are prepared for what awaits you at the end. This update also includes the new avatar, Ymir: Lord of Storm and War. Take control and decimate villiages and forts with his mighty battle-axe! We don’t want to spoil everything there is to see in this update, so bundle up and head on out!

In addition to these patch notes, we have over 2,000 changes made to the game, many to do with the new expansion. We aren’t able to list each and every one of them out, but these should make for a better playing experience.

Known Issues

  • While building the building piece brush can snap to a building at an inverted rotation from what is intended. Snapping to another location will fix this for now. This will be fixed in the next patch
  • Investigating issues with being able to remove the crude wooden bowls when placed.
  • Some thralls have crafting station bonuses that are too small to be interesting. This will be changed and updated during the upcoming thrall revamp.
  • When you log in to the game, there are cases where you may have missing body pieces or hair, reequipping your armor pieces should fix this
  • While building, the building piece brush can stay at the location you just placed a building piece.
  • If you pick Ymir as your god in character creation, the Ymir T1 feat is not unlocked. This will be fixed in the first patch
  • Thralls will attack any knocked NPCs who you are dragging back to base. This will be fixed in the first patch. Workaround: Put your thralls into containers or far away when capturing new NPCs
  • The new machines (Fluid Press etc) display the old diagram for camp fire. We are working on a fix
  • Inside of new T2 buildings (Insulated wooden wall) has a flickering texture problem. We are currently investigating a fix.
  • Inside of new T3 building (black ice-reinforced wall) has a flickering texture problem. We are currently investigating a fix.
  • If you climb or sprint after fighting using the new weapons (star metal, black ice, cimmerian hardened steel), you may stop dealing damage. Workaround is to unequip and reequip the weapons after climbing/sprinting to deal damage again. We are working on a fix.
  • Some types of undead in the new biome may deal incorrect damage. We are working on a fix.

  • Added new climbing mechanic- You can climb any surface as long as you have enough stamina available. If the player gets hit while climbing he will fall. You can build items that improve you climbing abilities.

Known Issues

  • If you experience graphical artifacts or crashes when running the game at non-standard resolutions then change your resolution from the main menu when starting the game
  • If running the game in borderless fullscreen mode on a multi-monitor setup, the game client may default to the same screen always. Switch to fullscreen or windowed mode instead
  • The mountaineer NPC who teaches you to craft climbing gear has no audio or voice. This is part of his backstory -he is a mute!

TLDR

  • Avatars can now be damaged. Each attack against an avatar will remove some time from the summoning timer until the avatar finally disappears. The amount of time removed depends on the amount of damage done.
  • NEW CONTENT: Added a new weapon type: Orbs. There are four orb types: fire, poison, oil, water. Orbs can be crafted in the firebowl cauldron, by an alchemist thrall. Orbs create combo fields with a variety of effects. Different orb types interact with combo fields in different ways. I.e.: Demon-fire Orbs leave a patch of fire on the floor. Grease Orbs leave a slippery patch. Grease Orbs thrown into Demon-fire create a larger patch of fire. Orbs are designed to be T1-level demolition tools, but can also be used in combat for damage and area control.
  • NEW CONTENT: Added avatar defense. Tier 3 altars with an archpriest can perform a ritual that creates a large protective area around the altar. Any Avatar entering the area is blasted with divine fury. Projectiles are blocked by a small shield dome around the altar itself. The ritual lasts for 36 hours.

  • Alt-tabbing out of the game then placing items won’t show them as visible

Special announcement
Some of the PvP Blitz servers are getting updated with PvP raid timers, only allowing players to raid each other between 5pm (17.00) to 11.59pm (23.59) on weekdays, and 10am (10.00) to 11.59pm (23.59) on weekends. These servers used to have avatars switched off, but with the new avatar defense features now being implemented we wanted to re-purpose them to be servers with limited times for player versus player combat.

Summary

We’ve released a hotfix for some issues players have been having since our last patch. In this hotfix are also some new exploit fixes.

Patch notes:

  • Old foundations will no longer remain when upgrading to a higher tier
  • Chat should now scroll automatically
  • EXPLOIT FIX: You can no longer dodge through certain building pieces on logout/login
  • EXPLOIT FIX: Disabled player input while logging out
  • Players on PvE servers can now die of hunger/thirst/suicide/fall damage (for realz this time)
  • Fixed a problem which prevented you from harvesting bushes multiple times

Known issues:

  • We are aware of problems related to the new emotes (locking characters, inability to swim, etc) and will be putting out a fix in our next patch
  • Resources nodes don’t crumble and disappear like normal. This will also be addressed in our next patch

Summary

A new update has been released! This one comes with over 50 emotes and several bug and exploit fixes. Please restart your games and update your servers to make sure you’re on the latest version.

UPDATE 23 (30.03.2017): The destructive power of trebuchets is now available

Join the Exploit Hunters!
Throughout Early Access we would like to reward our community for bringing big exploits to our attention. One of the most important things we can do to make sure Conan Exiles provides a fair and balanced playing field is making sure we eliminate exploits as early as possible.

By working together we can more easily discover exploits which ruin the fun of playing Conan Exiles. So please tell us if you discover such major exploits, and you may receive a nice reward for your efforts and for helping the entire community.

What we are looking for:

  • Serious exploits which can be used in online play and on multiplayer servers. (This would for example be exploits which gave certain players big advantages in the game, like duplicating items or being able to build inside mountains/rocks.)

How to proceed if you find such a serious exploit:

  • Go to conanexiles.com/exploithunters and write a detailed test case for the exploit. You must describe each step needed to reproduce what you have found. Please include your PayPal email so we can reward you for your help. Also, please include your name or Steam user name if you wish it to be included in our list of rewarded Exploit Hunters.
  • We will evaluate all the submissions sent to us but only respond to and reward those which have revealed a serious exploit which we were not aware of.

If we deem your submission valuable you may receive a reward of between $100 and $500 sent to you via PayPal. The size of the reward will depend on how valuable we deem your submission. Every rewarded Exploit Hunter which has included their name or Steam name will be listed in the Tech Support and Bug Reports forum on Steam.

Please note, you will not be rewarded if:

  • We were already aware of the serious exploit you discovered.
  • Someone else had already submitted a report on the serious exploit you had found.
  • We do not deem the exploit you found to be severe enough.

Announcing the Exploit Hunters!

We’re still in the early days of our Early Access adventure and there is a lot work left to be done before final release of Conan Exiles in Q1 2018. The feedback we receive from you, the community, is invaluable to us in making sure we improve gameplay, squish bugs, and solve issues ahead of that final release.

One of the most important things we can do to make sure Conan Exiles provides a fair and balanced playing field is making sure we eliminate exploits as early as possible.

To help us with that we will soon be introducing the Exploit Hunters program. Here we will be rewarding players who provide us with information about the most serious exploits. With your help, we will be better equipped to handle potential future exploits which can destabilize servers and avoid the need for server wipes after serious cheating by catching them early.

We will be providing more information and details on the Exploit Hunters program next week.

Server Wipes

  • We are wiping all buildings on official non-blitz servers due to recent exploits (private servers are unaffected by this)
  • We are wiping all inventories (player backpack, containers etc) due to recent exploits (private servers unaffected by this)
  • We are keeping player character levels (but you get a free re-spec) due to feat changes discussed in TLDR below. Please give us feedback on these changes.
  • Server admins on private servers may perform a building and inventory wipe which keeps character levels by using the ServerCleanup.bat file in the gamedb folder to clean the current game database

TL;DR (Patch Highlights)

  • Known Issue: Yellow Lotus Potions sometimes have no effect. This will be fixed as quickly as possible, and in the meantime we recommend not using them.
  • EXPLOIT FIX: Players can no longer use building previews to move themselves around
  • This specifically addresses issues with Explosive Jar and Well placement previews
  • EXPLOIT FIX: Players can no longer use chairs to travel great distances
  • EXPLOIT FIX: The crouch/jump “boost” should now be fixed
  • Please get in touch with us if you discover additional instances where jump “boosting” is possible. We understand the impact these issues had on raiding and general basebuilding on PvP servers, and want to make sure this issue is completely eliminated.

Asian region servers are being brought up right now. These servers will have 2x XP and 2x Harvesting for 1 week [excluding Blitz PvP servers]. These servers are physically located outside of Asia. We are still waiting for new server hardware to arrive in Asia. Once the hardware has arrived we will move the game databases onto the servers located in Asia.

General Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • Spider projectiles have the correct size again
  • Voice chat now uses Steam peer-to-peer. This should fix cases where voice chat did not work in addition to improving server performance
  • Voice chat should have less latency and clicks. Please give us feedback about how the new voice chat works and suggest improvements.

Middle-Eastern countries have been moved out of the game`s Asian region.


HOTFIX 18.2.2017

Summary

We once again recommend that server owners change the admin password once their servers are updated. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you and your respective communities.

Bugs and Fixes

  • Fixed a vulnerability with server administrator passwords

After this patch we will start the process of re-enabling BattlEye on official servers. It was always our intention to eventually do this after removing it from the official servers shortly after Early Access launch. When the official servers have been patched they will be restarted with BattlEye implemented.

Since Early Access launch we’ve been regularly updating and patching the game and found no correlation between server performance and BattlEye.

Re-implementing BattlEye will also help combat cheating and hacking on official servers.

  • Some skill requirements have been simplified or removed. For example, it is now possible to learn Journeyman Craftsman as soon as you hit level 10. Due to the impact of this change all players have gotten a free skill respec.
  • Ansel now respects collision, preventing people from moving through walls and other structures
  • Non Admins are restricted to 2 meters of movement when using Ansel
  • Balance pass on Bows:
  • Simple Bow range has been increased
  • Hyrkanian Bow range has been dramatically increased
  • Crossbow range has been reduced but they now shoot much faster
  • We have done an overhaul on what monsters can damage which tier of buildings. If you haven’t upgraded from sandstone you might want to think about doing that.

  • Fixed steam://connect/ip handling - Steam connect works now so that sites such as www.topconanservers.com should work properly now.
  • Fixed an issue in the Land Claim system that could allow players to build too close to other players. This may result in some lost building pieces if they overlap into land that had already been claimed by another player.
  • We have had some issues with the game state getting corrupt on servers in certain cases. We have made the interactions with the game database more robust, and added regular checks for its integrity during runtime. We have also fixed some cases where this would happen, but are still investigating if there are other potential occurrences.

As counter measures to the system, and since already corrupted databases will not be automatically recoverable we have implemented a recovery system:

On server startup, if the game encounters a corrupted Database it will attempt to recover to the last database backup that is not corrupted. This will make the status of the game be reverted to a previous working world state, which may result in loss of progression. To help with this, the game will now creating database backups much more often.

These are temporary measures while we keep working to eliminate the database corruption altogether.

Thanks for your patience while we work through this, and a special thanks to all of you who have been actively helping us diagnose and debug these issues.
