Permanently blocked?

permanently blocked due to wrong building. And you think I’ll ever buy a game from funcom again?

Wdym

Let me suss this out.

You either got a ban or suspension notice for a building violation.

First, if it’s your first violation it’s a time out not a permanent ban.
Unless you have gotten suspensions before.

Second, you violated the ToC, some one reported you for it, and you got punish for the violation, and it’s funcom’s fault?
Riiiiight.

Didnt even know you can get banned for building, anyway i never played official server

So after being told every time you log in to read the ToC, you didn’t?

Most people know building violations are my pet peeve. But I have to wonder why you thought it was unrestricted building?

But yes there are rules to play on the public; I honestly do not like calling them “official”.

@meljcom Good news is if it’s your first it’s a time out, not heard of anyone getting a permaban for a first building infraction.

Who are you replying to?

Is it necessary to be this condescending?

Your buildings can be removed by admins (they will nuke absolutely everything you and your clan own, not just the offending building) or you could end up banned if you build in places where you shouldn’t build.

It isn’t too hard to avoid doing it either. You should never build in such a way that you block access to rare resources or to most AI spawn points. Obviously there are exceptions - if you block a couple small common animal (rabbit, gazelle, etc.) spawn points or a few dozen rock or tree nodes then that isn’t an issue. If you block a spot where something rare spawns, like tiger cubs or silver nodes and an admin finds out then you’re going to have a bad time.

I quoted Nekbeth but the forum deleted the quote.

Yes.

Seems to depend on the admin. Most of the time from what I’ve seen they only delete the offending build then let decay take care of the rest.

I just started a fresh game on live with this update. I picked the server with the least alter icons. I’m working the journeys, sticking in the area from the dregs to the sink hole, pretty much around flesh eater falls. I n just that area I have to deal with 5 ToC violating builds. One has the ironfields around the tower of the bat walled in so you have to go around the area. Have fun trying to mine any iron there.
So around the other side of the tower of bats to get to the sink hole obelisk and some one has build from Hearts blood rise to the cliffs, but it open so you can walk through. Cropped my fps from 80 to 10, felt like I was watching a slide show.
To avoid all that I went straight from the sinkhole to the river and down river home. Some one has turned an entire map square of the river to a sandles resort, only dropped to 30 fps getting throw that.
Next trip i climbed the cliffs to get around that blocked path, came down the other side ran past the scorpion world boss only to find some one has built across the path from ravagers cleft ridge to the dust devil ridge.

Sorry I have no sympathy left for ToC violaters.

Unless the two have somehow merged, Nekbeth isn’t OP.

I did point out I quoted Nekbeth that the forum auto deletes quotes if it’s from the previous post.

I’m of the opinion the OP is a drive by, but I’d still like further details, it was a rather spartan post.

You’ve replied to Nekbeth, as you’ve explained.

They did not get banned. So you went off on a tangent about your presuppositions regarding OP when they have nothing to do with Official servers and don’t need to read the ToC.

meljcom hasn’t even replied or made further comments regarding their ban.

Unless you mean that Nekbeth altered their comment or their comments somehow got deleted?

Just thought I’d point it out because your participation in this thread is uncomfortable to read and would be confusing.

Maybe the official servers I was on had stricter admins. Over the years that I played on official servers I talked to a few players who had structures removed (because they would always complain in the general chat when they logged in and saw what happened) and it was always a full nuke, not just the offending structure(s) or the pieces that were blocking resources, spawns, etc. that got removed.

If you’re talking about official servers, they’re all the same. Essentially what it comes down to is WHO is on your server. If you have someone who is prone to reporting violations, then you’ll have more admin visits as said individual(s) have been reporting frequently. This can also affect multiple bases and clans at one time. I’ve actually reported a few clans at once on a server a while back that was so overrun with land claiming that it was EXTREMELY noticeable (we’re talking walls that spanned massive swaths of land, foundation spamming across most of the mounds, etc.). I felt the need to clean it up if I was gonna happy building on the server. After a few weeks, admin came in and POOFED all of them except one clan that coincidentally moved locations the week before. So yeah, they’ll go in and clean house on any base that gets reported. I should note that this will ONLY affect the builds reported, unless there’s a nearby base/clan that appears to ALSO be in violation. They will NOT go throughout the server and find builds.

Not always admin remove everything.
You can always get new alt or player in clan before server restart ( before suspension ) to avoid decay.

Usually the admin will wipe the reported base. If you have more than one, it’s not a guarantee they’ll wipe the others unless they’ve been reported as well. As you’ve mentioned, the result is usually your other bases decay before your suspension ends. Often times the base as a whole is deleted in one fell swoop and anything not connected to it (ie., decor on the ground or buildings not connected to the main violation) will remain in tact until they decay. This is how others can come in and take your remaining stuff by waiting for the decay.

Possibly, I had a nice little drop base made, had been where it was for months when it “lost stability” and the entire build including foundations just went poof. Seemed to be admined but I never got any notice. It was sort of in the vicinity of a map point, and a almost unique spawn. But in now way blocked either.

Pretty much, rules are equally unenforced.

There are those on here that seem to have this all or nothing approach to things. But for me to go through the effort to report you you real got to motivate the hell out of me. I don’t play with reports, they are detailed. Of the 6 reports of mine funcom has seen fit to investigate 5 got admined; and you know I’ll argue about the oasis one.

If I was actually the admin on that server I would never summarily ban some one for a building violation. I’m going to warn you, give you a week to fix the issue and tell you how you are violating the ToC. Then a 24 hour notice, but no time out till your third offense. 10 day time out.

And I don’t think anyone should be permabanned for a building violation. 10/20/30/90. and no more then a 90 day time out.

Right and that is an issue. I’ve seen builds admined that, yes, were technically violations but didn’t infringe on anyones game play. And seen mammoth builds that drug my fps down to the floor just trying to run by, set there for years on the same server.
