Currently, craftable items will remain in the hotbar (greyed out) after being exhausted (e.g. building pieces), while others will disappear. This proposal is to make all items remain in the hotbar until manually removed/replaced even if consumed/dropped (e.g. on death). When trying to use such an item, the game would attempt to find it first in the inventory (e.g. a weapon that was dropped and then picked up), and if not then just do nothing.
Many people (myself included) generally keep the same hotbar, so this would save time.
This could be offered as a toggle (e.g. “lock hotbar”) in settings.
