Please bring back the Age of DLC's

Sorry but I really hate the Bazaar. I play for a while. Then I go and play other games. Like 90% of the gaming population. Meanwhile I’ve been waiting on a few Building Set expansions to buy. But yet. They are never around. You want to keep it- Use it to put stuff on sale. But give back the option of being able to find and purchase sets/items in a more convenient way. Maybe you guys like not earning money for your hard work. Really not sure. But trying to bank on FOMO generation isn’t working in your favor with this customer. Also, your pricing for things is a bit ridiculous considering I’ve paid around $10 USD for full DLCs. You want me to pay $20 for 4 items? Maybe you think everyone is rich and can afford spending $100/month on video game items. However, in the real world we have bills to pay and food to buy.

So do game companies. That means they cannot keep producing stuff if it isn’t profitable to them.

The DLCs were generally great value for money, but apparently it was also not a model that was financially sustainable for the company in the long run. Especially since the Tencent overlords require their dividends.

FTFY

FOMO does not affect me either.

I don’t just have time to hang in bazaar. Also I hate the fact that I don’t own bazaar items offline. (and most of them are just cosmetics…)

:point_up_2:

under the age of soc they said they did not getting enough out of DLC thats why they stopped it

I’ve thought for a while now, since the battle pass is dead. Offer up a “best of” DLC for each age. Not have all the items from the pass in it, but the best examples of the theme of the age.

Well they may not be getting enough out of DLC’s but they are losing money cause I’m not going to hang around and wait for building sets to come back around. I’m sure I’m not the only one. I play for a few months and then I move along to another game. My base decays, I come back, and I do it all over again.
Instead of me spending money to buy the set items i’m looking for another company is getting my money versus funcom. I get tired of waiting.

The reality is. If the bazaar items were capped at like $5 for a few items. I’d have no problem buying more. But $20 for 4 items. Sorry but that’s not worth it. I allow myself around $30/month for gaming stuff. Most of the time it’s a new game, expansion pack or cosmetic crap in whatever I want to play at that given time.

Deacon has the right idea. Hell it doesn’t even have to be full dlcs. Just something so that if you aren’t around when the pretty stuff happens you still have the ability to buy it. The building sets should always be available. Leave the bazaar to single items/tools/weapons/pets.

Like for example. I bought the pyramid set when it first came out. Now I see they offer the pyramid set but added in the pretty workbench/banners/trebuchet. I’m not going to pay another $10 for stuff I already own (core building set). Offer things like the workbench for $1 in the bazaar. Would I like to own it yes. Will I buy the set all over again. NO.

as they said they took the battle pass people and put them into the team their making content becuse they could not make their content intime, if we still ahde the team making battle pass then you have seing the age have maybe being 3 years to end and maybe more months to each chapter now we have 6 months maybe its more if we still have the batle pass so im happy over they removed the battle pass and focus alot more on the content rather than battle pass ypu pay for 1 time and dont need to pay for it all agian, yearh its a sad thing but if you relly seing on the battles they not really earning any money becuse if you have brought it 1 time you could get them all if you dont spend does CC on other things. dlc see will be better but they are not earning anything to it as they said in SoC chapter 1 unless if people really wanna new map

it can be a dream but not when tencent have contract with funcom

I’m sure you’re not the only one, either, but that doesn’t mean they’re “losing money”. Whether they’re losing money or not depends on whether people like you are the majority.

As long as the revenue from the Bazaar is good enough for their goals, there’s no way in hell they’ll switch back to DLCs. And even if the revenue stops meeting their goals, it’s unlikely they’ll go back to the old business model.

Even if they bring back DLCs, they probably won’t be priced the way we would like them to be. There’s a reason they saw fit to hire a “monetization expert” and no amount of wishful thinking will change that.

All you can do is vote with your wallet. Don’t buy the crom coin until the shop is using a method you agree with it. Then hope enough people who are buying get bored enough to stop.

This is pretty much how it goes.

There could be a hundred posts on this a day, but those posts will be ignored as long as they meet or even exceed their financial goals. The Bazaar has been disliked by the vocal part of this community for 2 years now. The result is the expansion of the bazaar in Age of Heroes.

This is due to the silent people who pay for things have a much much louder voice.

2600 croms just setting there gathering dust. My vote has made 0 difference.

We can’t be heard over the whale breaching.

Well said @Nikki. I wholeheartedly agree with you, and you hit the nail on the head on both points.

Right, let me rephrase: the DLCs were great value for money for the consumer, not for the company.

Given the choice of producing more value for their customers, or more value for their shareholders, most companies tend towards the latter.

But I doubt the battle pass was any profit. I’m of the opinion they lost money in the man hours in making content of that quality. The only way funcom is going to make a profit on that battle pass content is to offer it for sale some other way.

But I expect it to be more reskins in the bazaar then DLCs of the battle pass content.

if they companig not getting money they cannot realese more dlc

i will love to just have seing the building set as a DLC instead of in a bazaar but the sad thing they said they did not getting enough money on making dlc´s they lost more money then they get from it, around the bazaar i think tencent have a hand in it becuse of the price of the many things, its the same with the other games compagnies tencent contract with their prices are allso high up

But the thing is. Everything is already done. They’d just have to package it up and put it up for sale on the steam page. All assets and artwork is already in the game as is. So its not like they are technically losing anything more.

The buisness side I understand that part. However, You would think that dropping the prices a bit and getting more smaller transactions more frequently would be better in the long run. Penny saved is a penny earned. It adds up.
As is, I’m not buying anything till I see the stuff I want come up. I will probably never get it. Life goes on. A new game will come out that peaks my interest. It’s not like it effects my real life in one way or another except my husband getting a big steak for dinner.

The problem was largely that they went from ‘producing’ the DLCs every quarter to producing between 0 to 1 DLC a year:

  • 2018
    • The Imperial East
    • Jewel of the West
    • The Savage Frontier
    • Seekers of the Dawn
  • 2019
    • Treasures of Turan
    • The Riddle of Steel
    • Blood and Sand
    • Debaucheries of Derketo
    • Riders of Hyboria
  • 2020
    • Architects of Argos
    • Isle of Siptah
  • 2021
    • People of the Dragon
  • 2022
    • “Why we not have no money now?"

If they want generate revenue they need to ‘produce’ the DLCs to sell in the first place.
