Funcom greedy or trying to kill this game?

So i think most of us already seen new stuff in bazaar …
Nemedian watchtower set ( one set of armor, reskin bow and few placeables for a 19.99 eu

While there is new similar games for almost same price as this “set”.
PalWorld - 28.99 eu
Enshrouded - 26.99 eu

And i think its a bit ugly move to try to sell me Nemedian stuff while i already have paid for People of dragon DLC … its like trying to milk dead cow !

The way most people are looking at this, is if its too expensive, then they don’t buy it. Getting bent up about it doesn’t make a ton of sense. For example, imagine if the items for sale just didn’t exist and couldn’t be purchased at all. Does the game change significantly for better or worse? Well the answer is obvious, nothing changes.

Buy what you think is a value, don’t buy what you don’t see as a value. Prices will come down if not enough are purchasing it. The opinion of the prices being too expensive are to be honest, a financial minority given that fact.

Hard for Funcom to be greedy when there are many watchers. :innocent:

These discussions of other worlds (from other companies) seem to continue here. Eventually, that will kill this game… the overhead plus the lore. Pure fiction, low-fantasy, no sci fi… just included in and increased immersion.

Exactly.

I miss old DLC’s days … for same price they were giving way more.

I want to support this game ,but its getting very hard to do so with those prices especially when new open world survival games come out.

If funcom would wrap all season pass, brazaar and twitch reward items into one big DLC … i would buy it for 60 eu. ( i bet most of us would and in this way funcom would get way more than now)

Hmm,

I have to say – peeps have forgotten a lot.
Let us take a journey back in time…
What was the reason for a given DLC?
It was pushed and supported by a patch and its specific content!

Just to refresh your memories:

___I.___
The Savage Frontier Pack
PETS have been introduced as bestial thralls.

___II.___
Seekers of the Dawn Pack
KATANA has been included, right because Katanas are cool and Kill Bill in CE just rocks.

___III.___
Riders of Hyboria Pack
As obvious as possible – MOUNTS were finally implemented.
Seriously wtf mounts are existential and all in all the community cried for.
Sooo…

Please correct me if I’m wrong – it must have been between:
SIPTAH___ & ___AGE of SORCERY
(Yeah ONE whole year or less a bit, there was nothing… – I was very astonished, that nobody considered CE dead, just dead, beyond resurrection.)
Then AoS I-III came + the BAZAAR… to be honest I can’t complain, sure the assortment could be better like this:

  1. Main page: brand new stuff
  2. Bundles (may or may not change… but guess dynamic changing stuff could be just the best)
  3. Catalogue of EVERY single item ever offered for sale

If it comes to me…
The stuff is expensive too expensive – nevertheless, if something is anyhow part of my chaotic preferences cluster, I’ll get it anyway… but I’ll ignore everything else.
Essentially to me, the shop/bazaar is simply just this:
HALF-BAKED!
(1-3 is not included and that’s what everyone, me included would prefer).

its exacly why i bought every dlc at their release to support company, but bazaar i never bought anything and would never buy

The pricing in the bazaar is not what is killing this game.

It’s people who buy it?

Which is it because these are two totally separate complaints?

The first is a complaint that you are being charged for something that you believe should be just included with another purchase. To which that argument could also apply to the DLC’s in that you paid for the base game and therefore the DLC’s should just come to you as part of the update. It is also already in the coding of the update and is applied to the game that is stored in your local drive and therefore you should have access to these things since you are holding onto the program with your own resources. Right? That logic would mean active development halts because there is no new revenue for the work the teams put into it outside of a few folks buying an older game.

The second is about the value differences between DLC and bazaar micro transactions. This is where feedback is probably reviewed the most because the deal is done and the change is cemented as far as DLC vs microtransaction. Yes these are pricey when compared to the old ways but in the business model sense, they are about midrange pricing when comparing all of the other microtransaction video games out there.

I look at it as far as fun factor. Am I enjoying the product as much as I did for the comparable DLC price? Most of the time I would say yes. There was only one regret purchase I did and that was the Headhunter set but that was me buying the entire set to get access to just the gibbet. Dumb on my part but all the other purchases, I am mostly happy with and at a comparable $/enjoyment level. There are some things I will never buy…ever (the feast bundle, the market the bath. …these don’t interest me). I’m glad I can pick and choose more than not and not have to deal with spending 5 minutes scrolling through all of the artisan stuff just to get what ever decorative I need like I have to with all the DLC stuff that I will never make and place.

I thought the Nemedian Watchtower Set would be one of the few exceptions I’d buy but 2114… no, just no.

Once again the cost is too high for what it offers and so, i will not buy this set sadly like many others items.
I want to support the game, but i can’t most of the time.

Well, i shouldn’t be surprise: They target the whales rather than the average people.

This is pretty much were I’m at… I want to give Funcom Money… but instead of fair price… its… just WTF.

At same time… Funcom has gone out of its way to break its own game…

/TinFoilHatOn

They want out of Tecent Deal and now try to kill off there game to hopfully be sold. XD

/TinFoilHatOff

Its company looking to make money… so I’m not mad. Its coming off greedy.

Hello Games… I’ve repeatably Asked for them to make DLC for No Man’s Sky, as has chunks of Community.
“Take Are Money!”
But Nope… they are happy to just Put out Free Updates… which sell more games… and keep there lights on, they make more content… and even have new game planned.

Just an FYI, tencent has a stable of zombie games they keep on life support. I fully expect Conan exiles to be added to it eventually. The ages will be done with and it will be just a constant recycle of 2 or 3 years worth of battle passes. As long as the game makes enough to keep a server open there will be one, the game just wont be in a development cycle, 0 updates.

Well… yeah? No game gets updates forever.

Meaning bugs are there to stay. One of the issues with new maps on RoE is they had to go out when the event{age} started, and no one had time to fix them. So to this day there are breaks in the maps you can fall through or hide in.

If you think that follows, you need a logic lesson.

Well… forever has to happen 1st

LotrO will keep chugging along till World Ends. XD

Well I’d pay $130 for a CE bundle.

While this one agrees that many items in the Bazaar are priced in the somewhat absurd range, this one doesn’t think it is an effort to kill the game.

The price point is not far off from what other games lambasted for their absurd costs sit at. Perhaps the overlords at Tencent expect the Conan crew to be as effluent spenders as the Fortnite crowd, or those persons in CoD or such.
Not saying that they are correct on setting those prices, just that whoever their “monetization expert” is, that seems to be what they think will work.

That said, they are probably making more money than when they pushed out a cultural pack every few months if even.

Now, this one does lament the end of the Cultural Packs. Not just because of their excellent price point, but also because there were so many cultures left that deserved exploring and not in the slapdash and piecemeal way the Bazaar encourages.
Some cultures, however, are a better fit for the Bazaar 's ala carte system. Yurt or Tent peoples being an excellent example. Some peoples of the Hyborian Age this one struggles to conceive of what a full build set would look like or have trouble imagining three full outfits.
For example, this one would very much like to see Hyrkanian support. But they really aren’t much for architecture, often on the move and more likely to be in a Khitan or Turani building. But they would have yurts/tents, and more variety in armour and saddle would be grand. Then this one saw the Hyrkanian Plainsrider set and realized that what this thinks is interesting about the Hyrkanian culture completely dovetails from what Funcom is selling. But the idea that a limited set would work was there.
It is at times difficult to separate specific distaste from generalized appraisal.

TLDR; Yes, the prices are absurd. No this one does not think it is deliberate, merely what triple A studios have decided to price fix at, and Funcent thinks they can command triple A rates.

The whales are financing funcom to do updates and further develop the game. How is that killing the game?

Of coarse funcom could take the free croms out of the battle pass, put bazaar items in the battle pass one at a time, and turn Conan in to a sub service.
Don’t have the battle pass? No access to funcom servers. P2P.

I knew when funcom hadn’t dropped the bazaar prices the first 90 days they were never going to. I assume they made enough sales to support the pricing and have continued to have sufficient sales to see no reason to drop prices.

I’m a frugal shopper with croms to spare. BUT I WILL NOT SHOP ANY PLACE WITH A BUYER BEWARE SALES POLICY. No matter how low the prices.
