That is proprietary information that they do not wish for their contemporaries to have. It is also infomation players wouldn’t know how to use properly. Even if they may think they do. (They don’t)
As like console vs PC stats, what would releasing this information do and would it be a net positive or negative? Every scenario I run as a thought experiment keeps coming out negative.
Agreed. Players would use such information to supplement their own bias and ignore the context. Like hours played for PVP are going to vastly differ in one way or another depending on the context. If you’re trying to build up your resources, you’re gonna have more time than PVE. But when you’re more established, you’re going to be doing the minimum as to not burn out during those times you need to be on that are high intensity. That’s just the nature of PVP in general in any game.
Like a great example of misusing stats is what players did with Server FPS. You had some that mistook that for video framerate. And then you had some that thought it was something that could tell them if they overbuilt. Where a single player would need to build something in the range of 250,000-500,000 building pieces to really see a dent in that value, assuming they are on a generally populated server (empty servers would need to double or triple that amount). And anyone who thinks they saw something here, you’re seeing a placebo effect in conjunction with a hiccup. That information is only useful to server admins/owners who are making setting changes or using mods that have some extra load per character logged in.
then there should be no issue offering up the data.
of course, i’d drop any player session from the stats that was under a certain minimum amount of time or idle for too long… that’s just proper data cleansing.
You know what is better? When players don’t worry about what others are doing and simply do what they like to do.
Seeing what others do, and adjusting your play around that is the worst thing an individual can do to themselves. This right here is the exact reason they should never release the numbers. Players are their own worst enemies.
the funcom conan exile’s contact page points to a help page and the forums.
of course, according to you, users do not communicate with the company thru their forums. which i guess leaves me with the general mailing address and a phone number… unless you’re saying i should choose some other social media mechanism to communicate instead of their own forums.
