In the first days of playing with Living Settlements addition I’ve experienced few more lost worker thralls, the same as in beta.
For those who are still worried about losing their progres this way, here are few steps which helped me and my clan personally and might help other people as well:
Place worker thrall in the world
DO NOT assign them to the bench of their profession, but place them in the bed (folded in our case)
Watch the thralls maybe sleeping all the time in the same bed you put them in, while still receiving bonuses in your workbenches
At least from my experience, these settings never reset after server restarts, I always find my thralls in the same exact spots I placed them, without any urge or attempts to fulfill their needs via the new mechanism.
It’s partially sad workaround, but if you are looking for practical solution, this might help you, although it certainly won’t please roleplaying people.
I am also now experimenting with assinging the thralls to the workbenches which have nothing to do with their profession, but in this case I am not sure about guaranteed long term success for now.
Well without this they were sleeping or eating two thirds of the playtime at minimum anyway. I said it before in another thread, the lengths of time the thralls are doing this or that are balanced very badly. They will always prefer chilling and workstations often feel abandoned.
It should be looking like the settlement is more lively, meanwhile in reality most of the time my bases were only looking like crowded hostels or cafeterias with empty workbenches. So I have clear conscience this method will not take anything immersive from the actual state of the game as it is now.
Still wondering how they manage to work at virtually every station, despite not actually being present at any of them. They’re either really good at their job, or they somehow got goblins in the workbenches doing it for them.
Let’s see… They are using their T4 expertises for crafting certain materials the most effective way, and if they throw stuff in some proportion into furnace, it can be forming there without them sitting in front of it all the time?
But won’t make much sense in creating reinforcements, this won’t do without hard manual work. Also the same for wood.
Yeah, there is probably nothing that could justify this new system in terms of reality. o.O And I have good imagination, but in this case, I gave up on the immersive sphere. I am just profiting from one thrall managing more stations while trying to not think too much about it, but it’s pity it makes little to no sense.
My first thought when i got informed for the Vortex, was to lvl them up to 10 as fast as i could (viva jungle) dress them with dragonbone armor and give them a decent legendary weapon to protect them self. Unfortunately i didn’t loose anything until the update got freezed so i cannot say how it went…
