Purge Camp spawning too close to base

I dont know if this is a bug, or working as designed but I wanted to find out.

So inside the Purge base camp that gets set up, are 3 1 skull mobs that hit hard as hell. This was only a T2 and T3 purge, so nothing too crazy. But I dont think you are intended to go INTO the base camp. Between the 3 1skull mobs and the archers you cant climb to lol.

Well, 2 out of 5 Purge attemps have spawned the purge base practically on top of my base to the point of as soon as I come out my door I am swarmed by the entier camp AND the first wave. I have now lost 2 T4 berzerkers to this. I believe the intent is for the base to be a bit away from your base and the waves come in. That is how it worked the other 3 times. im set up in H9, there is plenty of wide open, unobstructed space for them to choose from. Not sure why RIGHT on top is their choice lol.

Just as some context, when I mean open and clear, there is PLENTY of room, no reason for it to be within a few feet of my gate.


Has anyone else had this happen?

I believe the camp spawns on the spot it deems to be the best, if there is fairly level ground close to your base, it will spawn there. It also makes it a bit easier to kill the final dude if the boss is close, as the waves just don’t stop coming!

I had all of the purges I triggered last night spawn within 20-50ft of my base (6-8 or so, stopped counting haha), besides one, which spawned 150ft away or so.

I think the key to these purges is to have prepared thralls (or to go the minimalist route and have very very few thralls overall). The amount of NPCs that are thrown at you is quite a lot (I’m at max thrall capacity), and no matter how good your lvl 20 thrall is, they will be swarmed! I used around 15-20 fighters to dispatch of the tier 5 purges. I figured I would start there and ramp up, but the tier 5 was actually far more difficult than I had anticipated. It was definitely more dudes than a full on Berserker purge, and some of the NPCs (mainly Stygians) can hit real hard!

I’m also excited to share that I got 2 different purge thralls in the cages, as well as a few named bearers. The loot seemed real good, and even though the purge itself glitched half the time I did it (no chests or cages spawned), the ease of just clicking and starting it again, made me not really care about the issue. I’m sure it will be fixed soon, but even so, since it only happened half the time, it didn’t ruin my fun :slight_smile:

So this is why the Mounds stopped loading in anything and I had to restart the game to get anything to show? :thinking:

Yea the fob spawned for me as well a few times in the main base, while i had extra made a purge base next to it.
Its on the large ice lake near frost bridge on exiled lands so plenty of space for it to not spawn inside my main base lol.

At one purge they as well broke into the main base instead and stealth killed all my thralls n pets while i was dealing with some other npcs at my purge base.

Yes, i have the same issue.
I prepared a nice little treasure, two doors before it, and plenty of space…

But NO, after first failed attempt, siege camp appear on the OTHER side of my 40x40 base, almost wall by wall to my base. (and of course, after the first wave they decide that treasure is unreachable and retreat.
