Hi,
I grabbed the new Devkit and recompiled my small list of mods. And I hadn’t checked and assumed the TestLive aka Public Beta was updated. After everything went ga ga at me, I checked here.
And earlier post was wondering why TestLive reverted to an earlier version (Looks like build data is 16th Jan 2023).
I don’t really care why. There’s got to be a stack of ways that could be simple error that just hasn’t been worth fixing yet. Or some horrible steam thing with Steam declaring it someone else’s issue. Or intentional for reasons opaque to me.
I’m really just wondering when we can expect it to be updated on Steam to match the updated Devkit version. We’re 10 days out, and while I doubt I have much to do beyond the recompiles I already did. It would be nice to be able to check that with plenty of time.
(Here’s another reason not to use your real name on the Internet)
If we end up on the new version and I need to panic patch stuff I’ll just call in sick. But not everyone has that option.
According to the producer’s letter, there will be no Testlive for this next update. They ‘might’ bring it back at a later date.
I musta missed that bit. Damn. Testing in Devkit is often a bit misleading. But it is what it is.
Yep. Another reason why not having testlive is likely to cause issues. Even if they always pushed to live without responding to bugs found it could at least theoretically give them advance warning of the fixes they are going to need. And now modders also don’t get any chance to test either, so there’s greater chance of problems there too. Someone (Tephra maybe) did suggest a possible explanation for why they’ve decided not to use testlive this time, but that doesn’t change that it seems likely there will be even more problems than usual.
