Because it limited actual PVP and ended up just being a game of hoarding with occasional refreshing.
granted the PVP game is just….ick with toxicity, cheaters, exploiters, and body vaulting but to add back impossible to raid bases?…..yeah that’s not fun either.
Hard to defend when people can mesh inside your base even you must be a pve player as all the people I know want it back and bare this i know 30+ people who play pvp servers and nothing is unraidable with god bubble thats just skill issue
Ah yes, the old “Your opinion is different then mine is so you must be a filthy PVE PLAYER” come back. Maybe your opinion is just garbage? 
Maybe… GASP DIFFERENT PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS? 
But considering every single day, and every single thing that Funcom does is a new “DEATH FOR PVP”, why should anyone bother to care about god bubbles? After all, it will just “kill pvp” right? 
Bubbles never protected against meshing.
While I would want the utility of religion to be meaningful, insofar as bubbles coming back with tweaks to prevent virtually unraidable hanging bases, what you should really be asking for is attention on stomping out exploits.
In the past there was the exploit hunters and those who tested the mesh for vulnerabilities. Unfortunately, for reasons we don’t know, for every vulnerability patched another came up. Like whack a mole.
Not acceptable but bubbles are not going to address it.
