It would be cool to have the crossbow.
The explanation for the removal of the Crossbow IIRC was the combat update just before release.
Something about the crossbow not being able to be fit into the new combat system.
I personally was of two minds about the update, it basically devastated ranged combat.
But made daggers more fun, I was a bow and dagger player. However the restrictions placed on the bow…
…even though some YT personality’s touted it’s virtues. The change caused me to go on hiatus from the game.
Several patches later the bow was restored more or less, and I returned.
So if the bow can be coded to some semblance of it’s former glory, I see no reason the same couldn’t happen for the crossbow. NPC thralls with a crossbow were close to good base protection.
The game needs better base protection, so I’m all for the return of the crossbow.

That is pretty simple. At least in my mind.
Crossbow is big ouch from afar with less rate of fire
Bow is ouch from afar with higher rate of fire
Throwing weapons is ouchies from afar with highest fire rate (due to no strings needing to be pulled)
