Reminder: Please, PLEASE Fix The Treasure Coffer Ledger

Basic Info:

Platform: PlayStation 5
Issue Type: Gameplay
Game Mode: Single Player
Server Type: All
Map: Exiled Lands
Server Name: N/A

Bug Description:

This bug has been reported numerous times in the past, but it is still here. Which is very bothersome, as I would say that along with the broken Thrall Pot & Pet Feed Box, this would have to be one of the single most frustating bugs in the game.

So here is the issue every time place either a large or small treasure on the floor within the diameter of the coffer it appears on the coffers ledger (the list of all treasures where we go to proclaim wealth). No big deal. HOWEVER, and this is where the bug and the colossal hassle comes into play. Every time thereafter when we load the game/log onto the server, all of our large and small treasures are still ohysically there where we left them, but they no longer appear on the cofferā€™s ledger. There is a workaround, but I cannot overstate just how much of a pain in the neck it is. We need to manually pick ip then place back down every-single-treasure in the cofferā€™s diameter!! And when people have when people have, I can only guess here, more than 30-50 treasures, it is downright maddening. Having to pick up and set back down some 50+ treasures every single time we log is the anti-thesis of fun. Please, please, PLEASE fix this bug.

Bug Reproduction:

  1. log onto the server
  2. find any small or large treasure
  3. take it back to our treasure coffer and set it down withing the coffers diameter
  4. confirm it is on the cofferā€™s ledger
  5. log off
  6. log into the server the next time you go to play
  7. go back to your treasure room and notice all treasures are still sitting there
  8. check the cofferā€™s ledger and notice they are no longer listed there
  9. pick up and manually set back down everyā€¦singleā€¦treasureā€¦in the treasure room
  10. do it all again the next time you play

Sadly this is a slow loading problemā€¦ your base is too big / your machine is too slow (if itā€™s a PS4 then and you have a ton of treasure in a big base then it probably would be guaranteed)

My point is that this is not something universal and the devs can most certainly not reproduce it on their systems, but at the same time it is quite common, especially on official servers, I believe Tephra also had issues with itā€¦ thou he also hoarded some gigantic collection of treasure :stuck_out_tongue:

Essentially the issue is that some of your placeable treasure do not yet ā€œexistā€ when the coffer checks for them on load, thereā€™s already like a quite generous 4 second wait and then it retries again, but apparently thatā€™s not enough for some systems.

Anyway, theoretically a quicker workaround is to just pick up the coffer and replace that, since it should then re-register all treasure within range.

I confirm your issue brother.
My workaround is to not have any statues or relics in my treasury, as soon as i place them i make them gold coins.
The treasure chest can be filled with 100k gold coins which means purge lvl X.
I would love to have a decorated treasury like i do on official servers, but in single player is ā€œimpossibleā€. So i keep gold coins only.

I thought everyone converted their treasure to bars. Much easier to handle. I have a specifically designed purge base where itā€™s all gold bars. Then I have one in my main base thatā€™s just meant to be a banker for my special items. It holds my overflow of gold and silver. Thatā€™s where I have a few trinkets and treasures for decorā€¦ never for purge. If I want a purge, itā€™s as simple as possible.

Let us clarify a few details and see if we can rule a few things out here shall we.

  • Its a ps5, so machine too slow? :x:

I have a main base and several outposts. I do not evoke purges at my main base. Instead I do it at a designated outpost.

  • The outpost is, 5x6 foundations, two wall pieces high and a single story. In the way of followers, there are currently 5 archers there. So base too big? :x:

Let us now move to current list of treasures at the outpost designated for purges.

  • ancient lemurian statue x5, derketo cat idol x2, bountiful treasure chest x2, golden Argossean brazier x2, embellished amphora x2,gilded urn x2, finely decorated plate x1, jade warhorn x1. Not even enough to get to level 10, so ā€˜gigantic treasure collectionā€™? :x:

I am also an Singleplayer, so server traffic is not an issue for me. It further makes no difference if I play online or offline.

Happy to give that a try, it would not be as loborious.

I appreciate the workarounds offered here my friends, really I do. But who wants to go through the hassle of hauling a statue/large treasure across the map just to turn it into more generic gold coins/bars? In my book the whole reason we have small and large treasures is to decorate our bases with a sense of oppulence, and make it look like we are decadently wealthy. And why even have the placeable radius if we cant (or wont) use it? It just doesnt appeal to my sense of reason. :man_shrugging:

I agreeā€¦ to an extent. The reason I say this is because you canā€™t just pick them up and move them when you wanna adjust the difficulty. With a bunch of bars, I can just put them in and take them out with ease. The purge should be as simple as possible imo. While the building can be intricate, the means of getting it to start shouldnā€™t be too much work. Then again, some prefer the fashion over function. Thatā€™s fine. I build my bases in such a manner. If I wanna show off my ā€œopulence,ā€ I do it at my main base which is meant to make you feel in awe. My purge base is not. Granted, my bases are on official where theyā€™re seen by other players.

All that in mind, it would be nice to have it work. It just doesnā€™t make sense for it not toā€¦ but if itā€™s a memory issue, gold bars are the best way to go for now.

Cannot agree more brother, i just shared to this opinion, nothing elseā€¦

Nothing else. I would love to have a decorated treasury on single player too, have no doubt. I just canā€™t. Or better, we just canā€™t!

That is all good @stelagel. And I just wanted you and also @jmk1999 and @Xevyr to know that I was not trying to be adversarial here. But rather just trying to openly discuss the issue, the pros, the caveats, and also the uncertainty as a whole.

And I think yourself and @jmk1999 may be onto something here as far as my purge outpost goes, and might try it. But I also just really want the system to work. By all rights, my system should not be what we Aussies call under the pump and struggling to load such a small base and treasure hoard.

Maybe the Playstation version needs to be optimized. When we consider the other 2 platforms have had optimizations, I personally do not think it is an unreasonable request.

Likewise, I was merely telling you why this happens, though I did misremember so I double-checked quickly.
On load, itā€™s actually backwards, itā€™s the treasure loading before the coffer thatā€™s the issue, since the treasures try to self-register once they loaded. Thatā€™s what they will attempt a second time after 4 seconds in hopes that the coffer finally loaded

As for the scenarios I described, sure, those are usually situations where this would almost definitely happen, but that does not mean itā€™s exclusive to those situations, especially with more and more stuff being added to the game and not being optimized, weā€™re already noticing a bit of a slowdown on load.
Personally I never had this issue, but I do have a pretty decent computer and a fast drive, which is not the norm, though it might only be a matter of time.

In this case I think the easiest solution that would fix this in most cases and not require extra development would be to just give it a generous 20 seconds or so instead of 4 for that second attemptā€¦ Nobody is going to jump in the game and launch a purge in the first 20 seconds - especially since most of that will be spent on the loading screen - so thereā€™s plenty of extra time and it would only run anyway if the treasure failed registering the first time :man_shrugging:

Replacing the coffer itself should still pick up all treasure in the radius, like I said before.

So true. Gaming is creating a huge market for faster hardware and accessories on pc. A professional may need a couple thousands to fix a proper PC for 10 years and a gamer may spend 5 thousands and last only 5.
But i am happy you own a decent tool to enjoy perfection, itā€™s a privilege of less. I wish i could afford this ā€œpriorityā€, but other priorities are always in front ofā€¦ One day i guess!

Do you think this slow loading phenomenon could also explain the random decay of stacked placables?

Hmm, never thought of it like that, but thatā€™s certainly plausible if the top one loads before the bottom one and stability checks are performed, it might be one of the reasons stacked placeables often lose stability especially on officials where loading things is even slower than usual
