Okay, The old Method of the Dye system was Better. This new one requires too much clicks and inventory clicking back and forth just to see the results
Old System could stick all of the dyes in your inventory and use that for when you dye armors on thralls.
You don’t need to take off each piece of armor and stick it in the dye bench one piece at a time to dye it
Also Before the change you could have all your mats in the dye bench and then pull out the dyes from a chest nearby. it was way easier.
Suggestion. Increase the Inventory space on the current dye bench so we can have like 100 spaces so we can have all the dyes ON the Bench + mats
Also another suggestion, increase the “dye” slots to 5 so we can place a full armor set on the dye bench.
Finding myself constantly taking dyes off the bench, sticking them in a chest, just to pull out the colors i need to put back into the bench for the dye i need.
This new Dye System is bad, terrible, and the old method was better, Don’t try to fix that wasn’t broken.
Now if there was a dye inventory system set up, where when we dye armor it detected the dyes we have in a “special storage chest” So we didn’t need to constantly swap slots out i think that would be good. Again, no idea why Funcom thought the previous set up needed changing, IT DIDNT! You create the dyes at the bench, You put them in YOUR Inventory, and then you simply select “dye armor” What was so bad about that?
These are all terrific suggestions. But this one is key:
Nothing ticks me off more about the dye system than the fact that the giagantic dyes aircraft carrier does not have the proper inventory capacity to store ALL of the dyes.
I should be able to MAKE every dye… and then store EVERY DYE in the dying bench. Otherwise… what am I paying for with all of that bench real estate? Seriously.
Further, for the Dye Bench, if armour is brought to the bench to be dyed, it should use a colour picker system like the one used for clan banners, rather than dye flasks.
Dye flasks for field jobs, the dye bench gets a full colour picker for at home work.
But alas this one doubts this unfortunate change will be rolled back or improved upon.
I agree for the 5 armor piece slots.
it’s common sense
As well as being able to visualize the result on the entire armor …
On the other hand, being able to store the incredible number of dyes… no
performance requires
on this subject
for ps4 users or others
for the slowdown problem of the workshops
place the workshop inventory on a dlc tab while you do your manipulations
To help you store the dyes you can use the RGB sorting
1 red dye chest
1 green dye chest
1 blue dye chest
Another for grays
Or other system to your taste
you keep a good creative visual on all the dyes
100% agree on the inventory. It’s frustratingly low capacity. right now if i want to store all the dyes i find, not craft, but find i need the whole bench+a large storage crate. The tier 2 metal storage box next to the bench isn’t even enough and i am sure i don’t have every dye yet.
I have been arguing about this horrid shyte system since it was still in testlive. The fact that you can be level 5 and find a bottle of dye on a corpse and now suddenly you CANNOT USE IT alone is idiotic, but to compound the matter you now need to bring said bottle of dye BACK TO YOUR BASE, STICK IT INTO AN ENORMOUS BENCH, STRIP NAKED AND SHOVE YOUR CLOTHING INTO THE BENCH just so that the devs… “can justify the size of the bench”. How idiotic are these people who cannot figure out that all of this bullshittery was 1000% unnecessary when if that was their excuse all they needed to do was…MAKE THE BLOODY BENCH SMALLER!!! FFS if one second of thought can come to that conclusion how could an entire development team not figure this out and waste so much time and effort to make such a god awful, idiotic, frustrating system that NO ONE WANTED, LIKES OR EVER ASKED FOR? All of that time could have been allocated towards literally anything else and it would have been a major improvement to that most horrid of chapters. But no, they chose to sink their time and effort into this. Oh and removing exact stack splitting, and removing the ability to custom sort your inventory. You know, IMPORTANT THINGS.
Dyes should be replaced with reagents. Reduce the number of items from ~80 to 1. Instead of making dyes of specific colors, there is a color wheel or color picker that you choose. This way when dying pieces that are slightly of different textures you can always match colors.
Then allow us to save sets of colors. Allowing us to dye dozens of armor in quick succession. Some of us want our thralls in matching colors, this would let us do that efficiently and quickly, getting back to what we want to do, playing the game.
Finally show the example armor on both male and female models. This way we always know what we are getting when we place armor on a thrall that is of a different gender and don’t need to play a guessing game.
PC players have had this exact system I describe for years. Its time for this QOL to be base line.
Let me correct this for you. PC players who chose to play on private servers which happen to have a specific mod installed have had this exact system for years. But PC players on Official servers, or on unmodded private servers, or who just play solo / offline and chose not to mod have not. They have the option to be able to use this system, if they even knew that it existed, but that does not mean that they A), knew that it existed or B), were able to use it (aka online official server exclusive player).
Personally, I am not that fond of the whole colour picker option. I would much rather have the ability to craft sets of dyes to use, and be able to trade them with others so if someone else does not want to go through all of the trouble of going out and harvesting the materials to make all of the dyes and creating that gigantic arse bench you can just hand over a set of 5 or 10 (however many you want) of “X” colour dye to them to use. Even trade them for something else that you might want instead.
However, I would gladly take your system over the one the devs forced upon us in Chapter 4 any day of the week!
Disagree very much so - it should go and dyes should go back to the cauldron where they used to be (so that it useful for more than a handful of things) - then revert the dying system to how it was.
Likewise (as I’ve mentioned a few times before). Even in purely SP, with no relevance of trade, I prefer the separate dyes over any color-picker. I almost always have the options available in my playthroughs - I choose not to use the color-picker precisely because I prefer the separate dyes. But that’s all under the old system. I’d rather have old functionality (and no level locking) and accept a color-picker than be stuck with the current system. Currently, it feels more like yet another element of the game that has been in effect removed.
It is yet another example of the Devs of a sandbox game forcing their players to play a very specific way that they want you to play instead of how you, the player, want to play. Which goes in complete oposition to the very nature of what a sandbox game is supposed to be!
I would like to be able to rotate the armor while dyeing it. There are some colors that I have no idea where they are going because they are on the rear. PS5 cannot rotate.
I would also like the color to show up when we highlight the slot, so we know what that odd color is that we used before
One nice thing about separating dyes from the cauldron is you don’t need to wait for your steelfire, alchemical base, or stone consolidant to finish cooking.
I think the bench should stay too, but it use needs to change. Being able to place a full set of armor on the bench and then allow us to see the visual model of the armor on a screen.
So I have no clue if they are planning on making any further changes to the dye system, but I noticed in one of their latest twitter posts that a thrall walks over to interact with the dyer’s bench. Maybe we’ll have an auto-dyeing system, but that’s just my hopeful speculation.
