The title said it.
Same as Mad Prophet set.
Ancestral knowledge is just for cash grab items but I doo believe the hunt and prophet rewards should be made permanent in its own section or atleast purchasable/obtainable after the event is over.
I love how northfolk uses words as weapons.
There was a famous quote about that, something about wielding your ignorance like a sword and your stupidity like a shield and thinking you are ready for battle.
Ancestral Knowledge is a section destined to things you are rewarded that are not learned by the internal system, which is in a specific system of the game. It is mostly used for things that you might earn from bought bazaar items, as means to have them, but you cant learn them by simply playing the game and not spending one dime. So they are not “cash grab items”.
The division is not based in any “shady practice”, but in the simple fact that different systems in the game reward skills in different ways, so they must be put in different sections.
Sorcery knowledge not being part of the initial system in which you spend points and not being part of the list of feats, also do not take part in the regular knowledge scheme. And they are not “cash grab” either.
I dislike recent updates as much as the next guy, but if there is one thing funcom is consistently avoiding doing the same crap other games is the way they put the cash shop in the game.
Contrary to games like Diablo, World of Warcraft, and Finan Fantasy, you can earn a lot of coins and items by simply playing the game. What is even more “interesting”, if you admin up, and go around with fully spawned armor and weapons, you still earn battle pass XP.
To not digress too much, the reason to separate where the knowledge go is because the “listing” system is not the same. It has nothing to do with any other “politics” or “rhetorics”.
Event recipes are no different than map recipes and therefore shouldn’t be account wide.
Ancestral Knowledge is a Bazaar and BattlePass paid recipe and therefore should be account wide.
Mad Prophet doesn’t even have a recipe, so that’s a moot point.
Don’t worry Once the event is over they will probably make the hunt vender accessible as a contact in the tavern system and allow teeth to drop from the werehyenas in the den so players can still have access them.
So its not linked to the account and the event is not there to stay… this is not something we may want to complete, gf crashed in the fight against a champion… this is annoying, we never know when we invest time on a new feature if it will work properly or not…
Talking about which, where can I learn this Mad Prophet Armor? I can’t remember at all! thx
Mad Prophet Armor was a in game reward from an Event that is no longer available. It didn’t have a recipe associated with it. Therefore if you didn’t get it during the event, you can’t ever get it.
It was an event during AoS
Ok ok. Now I kinda remembered.
Was it a random reward from handing in Magi Skulls to the Sorcerer Hunters (men working for Mekamosis)? Can’t believe this feature is totally gone for a year.
bro I am absolutely not going through this egregious amount of grind for stuff that’s not even account bound. ngl.
P.S.: and judging by what I see on my server, a fairly populated privately owned open one, nobody is.
Close, you could exchange obalus coins to a merchant at different carriages (same place you exchange skulls) to get pieces of the prophet Armor. The recipe was never implemented but could be admin spawned.
Then don’t. It’s completely optional.
I thought it was dragons and dragonborn.
But yeah, things you get by playing, you get by playing. Just because I swing a pick at a rock on one character doesn’t give rocks to all my characters. That’s kind of the point of different characters and different playthroughs.
Things you get by paying should be account-based, ie. accessible to all your characters. Not every game even does this, making you buy the same cosmetics repeatedly. I’m glad Conan Exiles doesn’t do this.
It seems I’m the one with a hot take here I guess. Still, I think it’s obvious that there’s a huge difference between some mined stone going to all your characters and a piece of potentially missable craftable gear doing so. Let’s compare it to something a little more like what it is: Twitch Drops. They are both effectively missable content, craftable, but in this case at least the Bestial Regalia is a BIS for certain mixed builds.
Fast forward: Just because I decide to try a different server in a year means I’m not entitled to an unlockable recipe even though I took part in a limited time event a year ago? Again, while not 1 to 1 comparable, Twitch Drops act the same way in terms of a timed event effectively being attended.
If anything, I hope you’re onto something here since I assume there will be no other change.
The skelos cult master armor was once an exclusive outfit as well, WAS! currently i believe it can either be learned from a journal lying on the ground near the top of the stairs heading up to the shrine of the oracle or from a recipe (master cultist Armor) which has a 50% chance to drop from T3 sorcerer.
This same outfit and recipe was an exclusive to a Halloween event that happened I believe during the age of sorcery ( maybe earlier) with the sorcerer in a bubble and you had to destroy 4 pillars. This event is now one of the In game random events.
past they have made in game event rewards obtainable in other ways (if only just once). Even tho I can’t see the hunt becoming an in game random event they could from this point on begin tying reward vendors to the new tavern system.
As to why they don’t have a headhunter sitting at the bar selling prophet armor For ancient Obolus coins is on Funcom
Just found a pixel cave vid that can emphasise what I’m saying
Another “should” without an actual explanation. But it’s alright. I did only ask a question. I’m not asking them to do shit.
But I am letting them know with this post that my feeling is that it should either be an account bound item, or, the grind shouldn’t be as ridiculous, and/or, it shouldn’t be time limited. Not if they want some meaningful engagement and for players to not feel spit in their faces. But hey, again, I just don’t participate.
Love this idea. They need to do something again with Ancient Obolus. You know lots of players are saving them. I know I am.
Account based stuff is one of the many things that makes MMOs garbage.
Imagine for instance the hell that would be official servers if someone needed to only unlock things in one character to have them in them all.
Even if it was “account based in a server basis”. Imagine “full account wide”.
Being a survival sandbox game on top of all, account wide unlocks has no place near this game.
IF one talks about account wide only in “solo” game, there is thing called admin access. You go there and give yourself anything you deem you should have. You can spawn the cooking and brewing recipes, as many knowledge points as you like, armor recipes, set up your level. A “Evil Roguelike forgery”.
