Server Finder spikes itself checking server pings and never re-checks the ping values again

Ping numbers for servers in the server filter list are higher because it is attempting to ping every server simultaneously, thus spiking network traffic temporarily, causing ping numbers to be higher for each.

Worse, this ping number is determined only ONCE, not continuously, thus it never updates. This is undesirable, because if your determined ping is higher than max_allowable_threshold then you have to rejigger the filter to make it re-check or you have to ESC back to main menu and try again.

Desired behavior: game would update the ping for displayed servers in realtime.


Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Open Game client
  2. click PLAY ONLINE
  3. Leave default setting = Internet
  4. observe client attempting to get ping responses for thousands of servers simultaneously
  5. search for specific server
  6. record ping for that server; observe that it is high, quite possibly higher than the max_allowed_ping threshold.
  7. change filter from Internet to Official
  8. watch client re-filter and re-ping available servers meeting criteria on the now-smaller list
  9. observe new, lower ping for the specific server you searched for
