Platform: Xbox Series X
Issue Type: Framerate
Game Mode: Single Player
Server Type: N/A
Map: Exiled Lands
Server Name: N/A
Bug Description:
When entering the jungle biome (e.g.: around Xel-ha) there is a consistent, noticeable drop in framerates compared to the rest of the biomes. This is on a Series X, so if there’s a framerate issue with this console, I imagine it would be even more pronounced on the Series S and One X.
Bug Reproduction:
Go to Xel-ha and move around the area. You’ll notice a significant drop in framerates if you’re looking at anything but the ground.
Even with a 4090 on PC it’s pulling 100% GPU usage and 400+ watts so it’s just a very demanding area. I don’t know if they could optimize it further with this engine.
This wasn’t an issue though a couple patches back. I lived in the jungle in AoS chapter 2/3 with no problems except the standard drop when approaching a base initially. It’s only been in more recent patches that performance in that biome is just always bad even when there are NO bases.
My main base is located in the islands and jungle area on PlayStation. I haven’t seen much framerate drop, but I’m noticing semi-frequent abrupt crashes of the game. Idk if this is related, but it’s only been happening as of the patch this week. I’ll randomly get kicked out of the game entirely, followed by an error code and error report submission. I can’t say for certain if this is happening in other parts of the map as I’ve been building a new base the past couple days, so I haven’t done much exploration beyond my bases.
Do you have a bartender in place? I’ve noticed semi-frequent crashes as soon as I installed one. After removing the bartender, the crash fiesta stopped.
It is happening to me in the north jungle as well. It seems to be related to the time and weather: Rainy days cause heavy frame drops, clear sunset is always perfect. Optimizing sun/moonlight and rain could go a long way.
