Skeletal horse question

So the Halloween bundle is out and I know there is at least one of you all that bought it just for the horse…sooooooo

Is this like the Wight horse where no saddle is required since the saddle seems to be part of the skin?

What type of saddle does it replicate?

Following this because I’m curious. I’m assuming the same as the wight though.

Had some extra cash so I figured what the hell. The horse is kind of cool looking. (Admit it. That’s why you’re asking. :upside_down_face: ) And the other stuff isn’t too bad either, IMO.

Anyway, yeah, no saddle slot.

You might also notice that despite being a skeleton, it still has at least some fleshy bits. Pretty sure that was unintended.

Its also a fighter, you cant have a thrall when you use it.

Wait wha? No follower thralls with it? Yeah then I’m not buying it yet. Not till the bugs are out

Hell yeah I want it but not if I have to give up followers.

an answer to this would be nice.

One of the images I posted has the stats. Looks like it most closely matches the warhorse medium saddle if the table on the wiki is accurate.

Could you perhaps show us the nemedian tombstone, unearthed appendage and the cat?

Apparently its not a mount.

Its also worrying this thread moved the topic to Zendesk, which to me feels like they are offering a refund rather than there being something bugged in the skeletal steed…

I would definitely refund if I made the mistake of buying it… We assume a horse is a mount… Especially when its named “Steed”.

Well, it actually is a mount in that you can get on it and ride around. Haven’t tried having a follower plus the steed for myself just yet. Haven’t had any time to play today.

I seem to recall that horses used to function this way at first as well though, where you couldn’t have a follower and a horse at the same time. I also noticed when I was messing around with it yesterday that it seems to default to a more aggressive stance when following you compared to regular horses. Or at least it seemed to be getting in the way a lot more often. That can probably be adjusted in the behavior settings though.

But this is all starting to make me wonder what their intention with this guy was. Is he supposed to be more like a follower? If that’s the case, he needs some sort of attack or something. If he’s supposed to just be a horse reskin and nothing more, then he’s probably categorized wrong in the game files somehow.

Yeah horses used to be able to attack as well. When they allowed both thrall and horse, the horse stopped attacking. This sounds more and more they used the older function of the horse vs the current one.

Wait does this mean we could have an undead/wight horse and a skeletal horse following us around?

Oh, now there’s a thought. Might have to try that when I get a chance. Theoretically should work with a regular horse/skeletal steed combo if it’s going to work at all.

Yea this isn’t pay to win at all

Ok, tried it out and yes, it does indeed work. I had both my black horse and the skeletal steed following me at the same time.

@wittlepickle per request. The cat kept trying to wander off while I was trying to get the photo, which is to be expected of a cat of course.

You can add custom engravings to the tombstone, as you might be able to see in the picture. There’s a 40 character limit, but as you can see in the second image, the text gets pretty small with longer messages.

I’m confused how you could leverage this to gain advantage. You can get a second horse thrall that has 10 inventory items and hits like a wet noodle. Ummm…yea?

True, but on the other hand you’re well on your way to creating an undead cavalry unit.

I don’t do much PvP but to me it sounds like your buying a fighter thrall disguised as a horse. You don’t need the effort of a wheel or tavern just pick up a foaling throw it in the stable add sorcery food and bam you got a fighter/ horse army at your base. Just feels a lot easier then knocking out a thrall to me. Yea probably not much of an advantage but I haven’t fully tested the fighter horses hp at max lvl and horses usually have a lot or how strong its fighting ability is.

Ah man sorry for putting you through all of that. I appreciate you for doing this. Danke! It’s very tempting to buy this set.

Hope you enjoy your weekend
