SM_BountyHunter_pot is crashing my game

My game stop crashing with the SM_bountyhunter_pot error message. I’ve even interacted with the pots and no problems. It started working after a small unlisted update this past weekend. SP server, restarted fresh many times, etc., same as before without the error now. I have run all around the Island.

In CExiled land (where I hadn’t really encountered the error) I went to one in Sepermeru. This was a reported crashing area mapped out above. I interacted with a pot there with no problems.

The ONLY other thing I did was install the current Pippi mod, mostly helpful for public server games. I guess it’s possible that the mod fixed it, so not sure now. I have NO other mods loaded and I did not have it when I was encountering this constant game crashing error.

Might be worth a try… where to get pipi mod or just Google?

I got it out of the steam workshops. It was the second most popular mod. The mod only shows up in the admin panel, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for that… i also noticed a patch was downloaded late last night, so im going to give it a try and see what happens…

no joy on last nights patch…

so the title of the error dialog is “The UE-4 ConanSandbox Game has crashed and will close”.

UE-4 - Unreal Editor v4

Google “cooked packages” - first hit is:

Unreal Engine
Content Cooking | Unreal Engine 4.27 Documentation

Entering this link shows a definition for the error in the dialog ‘The platform requires cocked packages’, the definition being:

Unreal Engine stores content assets in particular formats which it uses internally, such as PNG for texture data or WAV for audio. However, this content needs to be converted to different formats for the various platforms, either because the platform uses a proprietary format, does not support the format Unreal uses to store the asset, or a more memory- or performance-effective format exists. The process of converting content from the internal format to the platform-specific format is referred to as cooking .

Now we have it… The devs have omitted something (bounty hunter pot) in Unreal Engine… Put simply, the game is broken. It always will be until Funcrom actually does something about it and there’s nothing we can do about it with the exception of abandoning the game until such a time that they fix the issue…

As Funcrom have not even bothered to comment on this thread for 6 weeks (not even to say they will look into it), we need not hold our breath until a fix appears… Their silence speaks volumes…

€40 not so well spent. To say im disappointed is an epic understatement…

Where were you when it crashed? going to log in to see if I can repeat what happened to you in that spot

Never mind I recreated the error. At least coming out of the NW corner of the map and heading down the river towards the Sorcerers Cave. It fatal errored the bountyhunter pot again. Glad you posted to keep me checking because I was going to start building again.

  2. Dafari camp with birds
  3. My camp

I have an archer thrall that im trying to get to lvl 20 on a journey. At location 2, she dances on the spot, then the crash. It also happens at location 3 - I havnt noticed if the archer is dancing.

Either way, I dont think any of that matters as the error dialog points to bounty hunter pot, wherever that is… The fact the error message states game item mesh bounty hunter pot, tells me that it is a resource game item and nothing to do with what we are doing. put simply, it will not go away untill Funcrom fixes it and there is nothing we can do about it.

Now I have gone to playing Stranded Deep and Farming Simulator 22, as there is little point in playing conan exiles. All that time, effort and money I have wasted - Its so dissapointing…

If I am not mistaken Sorcerers Cane id in E5? 2 clicks west of where I am. I have visited it as part of a journey (I’ve done lots of journeys…). It did cross my mind for a second that maybe this is an issue, but on 2nd thoughts, I think not - the bounty hunters pot would not be in the sorcerers cave.

I don’t recall meeting a bounty hunter anyway, a few slave traders looking for magic knowledge maybe…

Maybe if it was a case that there is a placable item issue at a bounty hunter we had all interacted with, I might believe it could be avoided, but now we are reaching and I don’t remember meeting any bounty hunter…

Sorry Lodd, I hate to sound so negative, but I think its more of a dev issue and a ticking time bomb that makes the game unplayable.

Searching through the Ch3 update thread I saw Dana of Funcom.

I just sent her a message inviting her to come look at this thread or pass the issue to someone able to look at this thread and help us all.

Lets see where that goes…

Thanks for the replies and map. And I meant the starting spot in the NE corner in Siptah (not NW) heading inland towards that cave. I’m not going to invest any time or money with it only to get locked out of what I’ve built. I have noticed the error eventually does that in SP. It locks you out of it, so you have to just restart the server. It doesn’t usually happen but can at any point. I’ll keep an eye too thanks and to any who keep trying. I really like the game, disappointing.

Still waiting for a fix!!!

Let us consider that. It’s a sandbox. Everything will break while the game executes its instructions. It’s not the spirit of the law. There is a spoken gist about this.

Okay.

Quite simply, if the game keeps crashing with a fatal error and it cant be played, broken is just what it is…

I have attempted to look further into this as you will see from previous comments. The game engine is having an issue with resources and is pointing at a development issue…

Now, we all expect bugs in games to some extent, those games are still playable (though it may not always look pretty). Fatal errors, spanning from development issues, making the game unplayable is something else entirely.

This post has been up for the better part of 2 months now and there are a number of users suffering over it which will be a percentage of folks that are suffering over it and actually taken to the forums. The very least the devs can do is to keep contact, letting us know they are doing their best to deal with it - thats the minimum they could do. Or, they could just ignore the issue completely, which from the look of this post is exactly what they have done…

Remember that folks have paid good money for the game and the end user, us, that have paid for the game deserves better than silence and a game thatbis impossible to play.

I have taken to Steam, to ask what their view is on this kind of behaviour of developers, as this behavior will reflect on them…

Final analysis: if you are a developer, you dont just take the money and run, then stick your head in the sand when there is serious issues with your programming. Thats not a great business model for a software development company…

I’m just web developer now. Personally, I have remade forums and apps to status quo and metabeyond :+1: I mean I’m thinking of the UI. I know you want the 3D genre. We want one that allows us to do foveated rendering. In the apps, however, the headset should be able to do that rendering.

Should.

“Take the money and run” happens. It’s kung fu. Can’t change stupid.

All due respect to you sir, but i see no reference to rendering here - it doesn’t state “cant create renderer”. What this tells me is that theres a problem with a placable and its collider and references a particular line of code - line 463 if memory serves…

“It happens, its kung fu” is hardly a good excuse. Are you saying we should all pay hard earned cash for something and be ripped off over it? Do you feel that is the right way to go about things?

In a couple of weeks, this post will be over 2 months old, with no input from devs and people left out of pocket. I know that l for one will be going to steam and flagging this game along with its devs and i invite all here to do exactly the same if they dont like the fact they have bought something that is clearly broken.

We may be only the end users, the little people, but we should have rights too and steam has flagging for that reason. That would be our kung fu and i believe that if the devs are going to ignore this we should all take this issue up with Steam and that is what i advise folks on here to do. Theres power in numbers and if we all got on to steam, they would have to act for the sake of their own reputation…

And the reason im saying 2 weeks, is that i am not a fan of raising cases on others, but after 2 months they have had more than enough time to at least contact us on the forum and then we will know for sure nothing will be done - thats when users should get together and do something…

Okay, well, I have to visualize these error messages on a time line. Expect a little back and forth here.

Meshes are stored in graphic terms, so that part about the pot is included here? There are standards and nobody agrees how to convey the terms. (“Colada”?) I think a basic understanding of kung fu puts it into perspective. It’s like a double edged sword. It can be fun, virtually, to let it play out. [The XML descriptors in COLLADA is what I’m pointing out here.]

Well, my base hasn’t been wiped, so I know i can say this much. (“say” because there are voices that can be heard and maybe originated from).

P.S. This developer prefers American English. I was tired.
