In particular, I could use a gaming rig to not be left in the cold
Gifted Steam Deck’s for all console playes?![]()
Yup, me too. We should all win one. ![]()
I just need a recent GPU ![]()
I’ll take a fully functional game.
I know I know mine is the least likely to happen. ![]()
if this post about your specs is true : Unreal Engine 5 - Um - #7 by DeaconElie
then you need more than just a recent GPU , from the 2000’s series and onward the architecture has changed and you’ll need a different cpu , meaning a new motherboard as well , and at that point you may as well buy a new one !
Actually it’s a 7 year old i7 4.0.
I have played a few games on UE5 beta testing, not worried about it.
And right now what hardware I may or may nor need or want is moot. data centers have made it all 5X what is was last year.
I wasn’t saying that he needs it to play the game , i was warning him that most of 1000 series pcs were built with cpu that can’t exploit the full potential of the 2000 and onward series so when he wants/will upgrade if he was in that case scenario (which he just cleared that he isn’t) upgrading only the gpu would not be ideal since the older cpu would have limited the capacity of a better graphics card and so would be the new bottleneck of the pc .
What new GPU, I’m talkin 30 series nvidia, may be 50 because right now a 50 series 6gig is cheaper then a 30 series 12gig. I watch the prices all the time. Gettign an up to date strip down rig is fairly cheap. But ram and GPUs have skyrocketed.
Want has nothing to do with it.
Personally I don’t want a PC W11 wants to install on. I’m of the opinion W11 is the worst yet, and for some reason practically every next version od window was worse then the last. I just need an OS, not a ton of bloatware and a personal assistant.
And I’m Curious why you are not taking my word for me already having betaed a few UE5 games and not had an issue. You’re setting there telling me my PC wont run UE5 well, when it has a few times. Can I set my graphics to ultra? No, but I haven’t been able to run games at ultra for about 5 years.
I want to upgrade, but I want this cataract removed, I need a new starter in my Jeep, my furnace miraculously made it through another year, my fridge has been dying for a couple years; but keeps hanging on. I have a list of things that are a higher need the a new PC. Ya feel me?
Would be helpful to know if the 8 gigs of video ram listed as a requirement is actually what it will take. Dune runs fine with 6 and most other new’ish games list 6 as the minimum.
As someone who’s done hvac and refrigeration for quite some time if the condenser on your fridge is underneath it with a fan to force air across the coils then it may just need a cleaning. Unplug it first and always wait at least five minutes before plugging it back in btw. Compressed air is ideal though expect a helluva mess. Otherwise a soft brush and be gentle so as not to break, bend or gouge anything.
No promises obviously but that’s something that you can try yourself and if it’s the problem then you’re set. It’s something that everyone should do really every year or two. Especially if they have pets in the house.
I never said anything like that I am myself on a 1090 , and played several ue5 games myself. I was just reacting to what you said cause if I want to upgrade myself to a 2000+ series well I’ll have to buy the hole package since my cpu is one generation before yours and can’t exploit the full potential of an RTX card . I though you might be in the same case and wanted to warn you if you didn’t knew the architecture changed that’s all.
