Sorcery and magic in Conan Exiles / A Survey of Modding projects

I would like to give you a survey about some Modding projects , which anticipate the hopefully upcoming sorcery feature in Conan Exiles.

As we all know Magic and Sorcery in the Conan books are dark ones, they are about necromancy and demonolgy.

In my opinion this feature could not be dark and scary enough. Conan Exiles is a game for adults, so I hope Funcom will give us a really scary sorcery system.

Lets start with Exiled_lands_ improved by Lexa

This mod was recently introduced by Funcom in last Fridays Devstream. This mod is intended to correct errors, lacks, and the weird stuff of the game. The damage of the weapons are rebalanced, there are more choices in the creation of the character, some materials to craft/repair have been redesigned, some recipes have been added.
But at least this mod is adding a new religion with high end and endgame stuff to the game. The religion is about the demonlord Xotli. You will get Xotlis altar, an enchanting table and you will become the possibility to tame demonic beasts. Also the other religions get their high end weapons with breattaking magic effects on them.

Then there is Acheronian Sorcery 2.5 by Xanthous and skillcheeze

This mod teaches you the secrets of acheronian sorcery. This magis contains the power of curses, elementalism, necromancy and of course demonology. You will get admission to the feats of this sorcery at Level 46.
-Discovery of Ancient Secrets (teaches the basics of Acheronian Sorcery)
-Magical Forge (a special crafting bench used to attune sorceries)
-Acheronian Staff (a staff created with Acheroninan rites from a soul trapped inside)
-Discovery of Magical substances (a stronger form of magical dust used for high level sorcery)

The next mod on the list ist „Fist of essence (magic duels)“ by Krysez

This mod aims mainly on PvP and PVP-RP based servers. The “Fist of Essence” is a weapon available for high level Exiles that seriously changes the gameplay and lessens the chance of Survival for others. The mod also includes some Magic Extras like the Staff of Inferno, the Lava Spit, the Venom Spit and the Web Spit.

All these Mods are frequently updated with the current state oft he game/devkit and are compatible with the most famous mods like Pippi, Age of Calamitous, Glasconstructions and more, Sexiles, Emberlight or Savage Steel and others.

So feel free Exiles to try out some of these Mods or all together. Have fun.

Great post. I think sorcery would be a great addition to the game AFTER they fix the core mechanics.

Yes, like the AI, Thralls, and get Sieges working as they should.

The problem is that these -fixes- have been on the devs so called - upcoming features- since the game was in beta. Instead of actually fixing current content they add more content which causes more bugs like despawned legendary spawns or add paid dlc instead of fixing the core game.

You still can’t craft flawless hyborian slaver armor since the thrall hasn’t spawned since beta. The only way to get +9 strength heavy armour is to buy dlc. Pay to win ?

Or the rubber banding when fighting anything… Instead they add a pet system that causes legendary alchemists to not spawn.

The list goes on of at least 20 core mechanics that are completely broken or bugged.

Beside the discussion of fixing existing Corefeatures, Bugs and other things. This thread is about mods which are bringing sorcery to the game right now. I think they are really worth to look at them and even play with them. And of course it would be great to discuss how sorcery should look like in Conan Exiles. Because also Sorcery is a core feature for this game, not implemented by now. The barbaric world of Conan is a world full of magic and dark sorcery, actually a must have for this game.

Even if they implement fixes for the things it will occasionally cause more problems. That is how coding works and just about every game has had to deal with it - Conan Exiles is absolutely no exception, given what some of us learned from polarbear’s now somewhat less recent video.

I also hope that these core features will be fixed soon, just as much as I am still awaiting some improvements that I have been listing on the wiki but they haven’t been releasing yet. It’s just that I don’t like the forum getting flooded completely with critic posts. I have seen a lot of those posts with demand for these things and I just want to be able to read the forum knowing that there’s problems with patching things, but not constantly having to undergo telling people that I as the reader already know that there is problems with them. I’m sure the developers also know there is issues accounting for the things you just named that were already reported dozens of times. How long it will take until they are fixed I’m not sure, I just hope it’ll be as-soon-as-maybe-at-least-somewhat-more-than-possible, concerning the need for it.

Now, speaking of core features, a somewhat core feature for instance has been the Automoddownloader -as this is about mods-, to which I have replied to the General Discussion post saying I really hope that it will get patched after Halloween as was suggested that it may be. Don’t worry, I also have my demands :wink:

If one of the things you mentioned hasn’t had a good solution suggested or made according to you, you should still mention it on the Suggestions forums. I think that any positive, constructive, helpful feedback still helps more then just the negative or demanding. It may bring some creative ideas from others with it too!
