In the Knowledgebase, under Epic Two Handed Weapons, there is listed a “Star Metal Katana”.
It states it can be built in the Improved Blacksmith Bench.
However, spending the 13 points it takes to learn the Katana, yields nothing.
There is no way to craft it, that I have found. In fact, in single player mode, doing a search in Gear for Katana, there is no Star Metal Katana.
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
Single player Mode, Vanilla.
Any one else have this issue?
I don’t remember it being a problem (but it’s been a while) - have you tried the Garrison/Campaign Blacksmith’s bench? (A lot of these descriptions of where things can be crafted come from before the t3 benches existed.)

It isn’t called a Star Metal Katana in the Blacksmith Bench.
It’s just called Katana.
In the Knowledgebase is is listed as item number 51023 Star Metal Katana
But in the bench it is 51094 Katana.
It just totally confused me, but then that doesn’t take much anymore. 
Consistency in naming would help, but again, I get confused easily so… there you have it.
It’s just a “Katana”.
There is no explicit “Star Metal Katana”, which is very unfortunate.
But at least there is a Katana made of star metal, in the base game.
Compare and contrast to punch daggers/claws. Which have a Battle Pass set that can be in star metal, and have a blood crystal set, and yet the base game simply forgot to include them and they taper off at the abjectly useless hardened steel tier.
It would be very nice if these later added weapon types were fully fleshed out.
