So I’ve been meaning to do the Kurak dungeon to get the new armor recipe but I’ve seen comments in different places about it being bugged?
Therefore:
Is the dungeon still bugged?
What is the best strategy to do it? I’ve seen that somehow when you die you keep your gear but can lose your thralls? If so, should I just bring a golem or actual thrall?
I’ve gone through it a fair few times and never had any problems whatsoever, and I have a potato of a computer. But it gets boring very quickly. Watch a video on Youtube as to best prepare for it then dive in.
After I got the outfit and a bunch of crystals, it didn’t matter at that point. Once they patched it to where I was no longer able to quickly level thralls, that was the nail in the coffin. I didn’t need to keep playing a broken dungeon for nothing but more crystals. I haven’t played it since the patch.
My base is close to where one of the crystal bosses spawns therefore getting crystals is no problem for me. I’m just in it for the outfit. Just curious if I risk losing a decent thrall or not. Debating to bring one of my golems in instead but honestly I’ve only used them for harvesting for which they are more a pain to deal with vs just harvesting myself… No idea how they’d perform in an actual dungeon.
Worth a shot. Regardless, if you got a decent thrall and not just a low tier or exiled thrall or something, you should be fine if it glitches out. Idk if you can still remove bracelet to get out if it does get stuck though (your thrall will follow and you won’t lose anything). I think so, but might need confirmation from anyone that’s done it since the patch. If it works that way still, your only danger to losing a thrall is really if you stay in the dungeon until the time runs out. Otherwise, it’s not too difficult if it works, so long as you’re not wasting time and smelling the flowers (I totally get it though, sometimes you just wanna look at the place and admire the surroundings. Yeah, don’t). As mentioned before, check YouTube to see what you’re getting yourself into and prepare accordingly. You can also test in single player (vanilla settings preferably) to get a feel for the dungeon before going in on your regular server.
It is worth doing even bugged, for you can collect the blood crystals on the golems you killed before it gets bugged. We only managed to complete it twice with my clan mate, all the other times were bugged, yet we still farmed like crazy.
Put your bed outside.
When nothing attacks you anymore for about 10 seconds after you killed the spiders and golems, it is safe to say it is bugged. Just go to the settings > remove bracelet. It will kill you and teleport you back to your bed with all your gear and inventory intact, as well as your thralls.
It only happened once when my clan mate’s thrall stayed in the dungeon while mine was teleported just fine. So he had to go far from the dungeon, and let his thrall return on its own to the base after 15min.
The only problem I’ve had is with the thrall getting stuck in there after completing it; I’d zone out, the thrall would stay behind. Not catastrophic, I’d just have it stop following and eventually it will find its way home. It is a nuisance though.
I’ve used an Iron Golem with a sword to kill one of not-so-hard World Bosses in the IoS (helping him with Snake Arrows - my favourite tactics in Authority build). Golem was not so bad and lasted for “two and a half” bosses before it was killed at last. Iron Golems are cheap as dirt so I’d try it if I lived in EL. By the way try to put your gathering Golems on guard near your base. Each time you (or any other player) come into rendering distance they begin working so you’ll get a decent “passive income” of base materials. Stone Golems are good enough for it, just empty their inventory in time. I’ve made some with shining heads - they look nice
If you’re worried about your thrall, have a ten-minute timer running on your desk or something. That way you can decide whether to suicide before the Blood-Moon Beast appears or try to complete it. That’s basically the only way to lose your good thrall in there.
I died in there once when I was careless and ran out of stamina while sandwiched between the last sorcerer and the fire-breathing dragon. My thrall teleported next to my spawning point. Haven’t encountered the dungeon-breaking bug yet, but then I’ve only been down there three times.
We ran the dungeon 10 times when we encountered the bug during the Golem round. What we discovered, is if you kill the golems too quickly, the sorcerer does not come down from the platform, and there is no way to finish the round.
We figured this out after I had done it alone with no problem. I went with a friend, and we killed the golems fast. We couldn’t get through, because the sorceror was still on the platform. We went through a second time, killed three golems, and just dodged and half fought until he came down to join. After that, it went as it was supposed to.
We did it 10 more times. We killed the golems quickly 5 times, and never progressed. Five times we set our thralls to ‘Guard Me’, took our time killing golems, and when the sorceror attacked we let loose and went right through with no issue.
@Wak4863 has a great tip in his video of placing a few wisps down in the combat area. Throw them out before dropping down to initiate the battle which will both provide a source of light for the first wave, and the wisps last 10 minutes giving you an easily visualized timer of sorts… You don’t need anything but the staff and I personally bring some cleansing brew to heal the corruption.
It will probably stay. My bet is we have another map where the story continues. It would make no sense to deny new players the story Exiled Lands has developed so far.
Ark continued the story through multiple maps and I bet Funcom is taking the same path, logical next steps for any survival game that has lore in it.
This is a wild speculation, but Conan, King of Aquilonia statue that was shown during the anniversary video, could’ve been used as a pitch to shareholders, for the future of Conan Exiles. Game Companies usualy make statues and panels to sell an ideea better during presentations.
I could also be wrong about many things, but without further information, all we could do is speculate.
Edit: Worth mentioning that the first chapter of any Age counts as a major update, with several new features to be deployed. A new map doesn’t sound too far from what’s possible.
