The Cursed Wall

I didn’t think this’d get heated. :flushed:

BTW, I’m not in total disagreement with you. I do agree that the wall should do something like hum…Like an electrical box. I’m just against changing the visuals because it SHOULD be difficult to see. We are, after all, exiles.

I will concede to the hum though. I guess I’ve never (except once) gotten that close to the wall again to worry about it.

LOL they’re more like helpers. But that’s what is SUPPOSED to work. That’s my point. I don’t need a thrall to fight for me but it’d be nice if they fought when they’re supposed to. The do one time then they stop. Not consistent is all.

I just ran around the edge of the Unnamed City a day or so ago on the road to Sepermeru, and my steel production facility location.

Approaching the wall I see the big towers as I get near it at the one corner of the Unnamed City.

It basically looks like green fire in the air, shimmering. I already knew it was the Wall and not to screw around with it. But honestly most players should have common sense to be careful with approaching it.

The game has been out for a while now. One death to the wall is excusable. More than that are not.

LOL, text doesn’t convey my tone but if it upsets someone, I’m also not concerned. Sticks and stones may hurt but names never do.

You missed the point entirely.

walk into wall, realize it is not friendly, never walked into wall again…gaming is hard.

Enough of them will after a while.

Okay, I’ll give you that however, he didn’t die because of the wall. He died because he wasn’t prepared for the trip. If you’re going diving you bring a breathing potion. No excuse for that. They’re VERY easy to make and VERY affordable. Especially if you’re going to be searching things underwater or gathering things like Brimstone etc.

Not at all.

Surroundings are usually aware of the players too (my exact point put into a simple enough form within a single line). What I gather and wager here is that some players aren’t satisfied of the current level of action-reaction quality. They want the environment to be vivid or lively enough to feel the rush. Seeing a car coming at you in a lethal speed, you feel the rush building while you try to solve the situation to your less lethal benefit (even if it’s not possible). If you don’t see the car coming, you feel the sudden bump, but not the rush.

Point is that there’s no dynamic enough of an action to trigger enough rush as a reaction. Sometimes, to do a proper punishment or hindrance of some sort, one has to make a spectacle.

LOL, is it a bumper car. I would think it would be way more than a sudden bump

Depends on how fast our sensory system collapses, I wager. The longer it can hold on, the more it may register from the event. If we die in an instant (more or less), I don’t think it feels significantly beyond a bump of some sort coz the system doesn’t have enough time to take it all in (unless it goes into overdrive, to which I think the rush is an essential ingredient of). I’m not familiar with the subject much, so anyone actually educated enough may want to wage in on this too.

Edit:

Aforementioned was based on solely (well, mostly) my personal experience of quite unfortunate events.

I will point out that the cursewall is difficult to see underwater. I don’t think there really needs to be a popup message, but some kind of auditory trigger (an electrical humming type of noise that gets louder as you get closer) wouldn’t be a terrible thing to add.

…and they are NOT forever too. You have to watch your breath you know or your trip will end very soon.

There’s a few different varieties, the cheap 60 second one, the 2 minute and 10 minute. There’s also the water breathing mask (gives you Iron Lungs, which extends breathing time), and of course there’s Riptide. Lots of options.

I know this, but in early game we have only one breathing potion. Dagon dungeon is not for lvl 20 or so.

And you are right, with everything except the riptide, you still need to monitor the breathing bar. But you know, some people have never died due to carelessness…the same people who have never been raided, lost a melee, etc…

I agree, underwater needs a more viable way to know you are close. Humming seems out of place, but maybe it should be more akin to ghostly religious sounds.

You don’t need to go there for that. You do know you can drink more than one breathing potion right? I don’t use any of the advanced ones. I just bring regular 1 min breathing potions.

Like you hear the screams and moans of previous victims, implying that the ghost wall is literally made from the souls of those it’s killed? Basically making the Ghost fence live up to its name by making it sound like it’s made of ghosts…
